Right, none of use will know until its released. But what is the point of having an independent global setting if a preset can overrule it. As far as we can tell from what we've been told... what was said above tells the tale: Set your patch eq's the way you want them to sound, and then use the global eq when you change rooms and need to adjust the overall tonality.
-
GLOBAL it means that its a setting that blankets everything. Regardless of what is set in a patch, a global setting will also be in play. If you want eq on individual patches, put an eq in your patch. A global eq won't even make a difference for me, because I plug straight into the PA. The sound man does eq-ing, not me.

trial and error. That's how you find what is good for you.

I don't suggest anyone do anything to void a warranty. Plus, I thought they fixed this on the X. This can be exasperated by being on a soft floor, like carpet, or when on a desktop being moved by hand instead of foot. But there are some units that have a hard time engaging the pedal because the rubber stopper underneath is too big. It prevents an ugly metal on metal clang. But it can also prevent being able to push down enough to engage. What people have done in the past --- once they determine that this is the problem --- is the shave off a little bit of the rubber. This allows the pedal to go down enough to press the button.

Each time you hook up Pod and EDIT, it does an entire sync. So, yes, it would be 20 minutes each time you hook up, plus 15 seconds for every change your make.

100% feel your pain. Luckily, for me, the 'rock' music that requires feedback is still using floor monitors... stand on them, make poses, be cool. I would love to see what people have to say for a solution.

Travel cases are a separate issue, because some people's travelling needs are different. A 'gig bag' tossed in your back seat is fine for some people. Others, not so much. But as far as gigging goes... Again, depending on your setup... I don't see it being that hard to have a custom made board/box. Then you can have all of accessories - expression pedals, wireless, power strips. etc - put exactly where you need them to be. Get on stage, open it up, and everything you need is just where you need it to be. Just hook up to the main power and main sound, and you are ready to go. Places like Lowe's, or even Wal-Mart, make access to supplies a snap.

The amount of noise on my L6 does not (to me) replicate reality. Its loud, obnoxious, uncontrollable, and entirely overpowering. It is my only complaint about my unit.

custome tones want to open in reason instead of hd500 edit
pianoguyy replied to deucethesoundman's topic in POD HD
OK, that is basic computing knowledge. I understand that part. But from a user standpoint... What is the benefit of opening a file with EDIT? Currently, when I want to put a file into EDIT, I open EDIT. I drag-and-drop a file or I use the menu in EDIT named FILE and choose OPEN. What happens if you set your associations and just click a file? -
LOL He said Garage Band.

I don't think "they won't". I just think that it is too cost inhibited to produce their own wireless transmitter for the express purpose of hooking up outdated products for the 75 people that would want one, when the next generation could just as easily have it built in. So, yes, give up on wireless connectivity. You don't want it due to speed limitations, and you aren't going to get it anyhow. But, now that they are working with Apple and Google devices for some products, I am still holding on for an android app equivalent of "EDIT" for my Pod HD500. Once they make it for one, adaptation for others is easy.

as with your other post, and previous replies... modeling is an effect. it is turned off by default. when you create a patch - do not add an amp. when using an already made patch, turn the amp off if there is one. there is no 'global' setting for amps, ALTHOUGH... I may be wrong because I am no expert on this (someone with more knowledge, correct me if wrong, and explain further details if I am correct), but I believe that the converter program can change the amps of patches. So in theory, you could change it no 'no amp' and change all of your patches in bulk.

a good place to start is the preset acoustic sounds. You can scroll through them and see what you like and don't like. And then do your own editing to see what works and what doesn't. From experience, there is a difference in using a mic and using a pickup. and even the different types of pickups make a big difference. So, whatever gear you use to make your sound, that is what you will need to use in the future.

1. I would set it up the same as you did your 500. There is not that much of a difference between the two that you would need to re-learn anything. 2. Line 6 puts out updated guides when things need updated. As long as you download the right pdf, it is up to date.

And even if firehawk replaced the hd series... do we need to rush out and buy it? Does the hd shutdown and become inoperable immediately when firehawk hits the market? But to answer the question... NO. Firehawk is no "next year's model" for the HD Series.

Acoustic instruments are more obvious to tonal changes. BUT, the casual listener will miss it. ALSO, cheap $200 guitars, no matter what wood was used, will not show a difference. Higher end models is where you can tell. Otherwise, why would we ever need to buy a high end guitar? And even those 'scientific' youtube videos. You have to take in to account the microphone used, and the video quality. That type of demonstration is different that what the human ear is actually hearing in a live setting. But electric instruments are mostly about electronics. Strings. Pickups. Cords. FX. Not wood. That's how you can go to youtube and see logs or toppled over trees being used to make tremendous guitar sounds. Add a pickup, a fretboard, and something to hold the strings. The wood may change things like sustain, or the playability of the guitar, but it has less to do with sound because of the electronics. There is also a difference between the player and the listener. Because the player comes into physical contact with the guitar. So any vibrations will travel into the player. Woods make a difference to what you 'feel', which could in theory change what your hear. Its sort of like making your body a vibrational speaker. Which is the same type of effect that happens if you are sitting at your desk playing guitar, and you have the headstock touching the desk, or the body touching the arm of the (non-padded) chair. Those things "become" part of the instrument and help provide sound.

Bluetooth is sooo 2007. Its very slow. That's why I have always asked for wired support. It shouldn't be that hard to make a 'mini-edit' instead of a full fledged edit program that is compatible with cell phones and tablets. In case you need to access it when away from home. But what everyone said is true. In the 500/500x devices, you cannot do thumbdrives or other power-dependent devices. Nor can you do bluetooth or wifi. The hardware is not there. I do believe, though, that they could design a firmware update that allows certain transmitters to be plugged in to the USB. But it would have to be limited to a few transmitters because driver support for every device out there would not leave any room for effect processing. But why would you want a wireless transmitter? It just seems silly. When you are at home, you are three feet away and you are stationary. Cord it up.

I don't want to end up hijacking the thread... But, you are doing nothing but making excuses. People are walking all over you and getting rich while doing it. Laughing at all of the gullible musicians that believe 'I can't afford to pay you tonight'. Which, instead of you paying out $1500 for sound and lights and splitting what's left.. if the house is providing those things, then you you can say you got paid $1500 but had $1500 worth of expenses. But it still doesn't change the fact that, if the sound guy is that bad, he is ruining YOUR business. You need to take control of the situation.
-
I may not be an entry level player in 2015. But in 1983 when I began this journey... Always be in control of your business. You can use 'house sound', but if he ruins your sound --- 200 people at the bar (who have never seen you before) are not going to say "That band was great, too bad the bartender's boyfriend's brother ruined the mix." They are just going to remember how horrible you sounded and won't want to ever see you again. So, make the choice. Run it like business and prosper. Or play for pizza and beer, while some college kid runs your sound on the weekend so he can pick up chicks and drink underage.

and what happens when someone designs a patch and gives the patch to someone that does not have the same "pack". You may want to consider adding a spot on Customtone for people to notate what bonus packs were used. Also, these pack purchases, are they mine to keep forever so I can install on a future machine I buy or install on a backup machine that I already own - or are they assigned to the individual pod (by serial) so that a future owner of each unit can get the same bonus packs.

custome tones want to open in reason instead of hd500 edit
pianoguyy replied to deucethesoundman's topic in POD HD
1. l6t files are not hd500 files. Are you sure that you have the right 'search' criteria set? 2. I don't use a Mac, but... I wonder if I set my file associations - if clicking will on a pc will do the same? Someone, in the know, please explain. 2a. Not that I want to get in the habit of click-to-open. I like drag-and-drop. I just like knowing all possible options. -
Luckily, for me... I haven't even looked to see your screen name. Which means the next topic that someone posts, I won't need to watch my "p's and q's" in fear of upsetting you again, because I have no clue who you are. HOWEVER... Can the same be said in reverse? You have admitted to paying attention to my name and my posts. That's a compliment! How's that for narcissism. You know me. Yet, even though I have engaged in conversation with you, I have no clue who you are. And the next time we speak, it will be as if its the first time we have met, because its not important enough for me to pay attention to your name.

why limit it to 7 strings. 8's and 9's are the in-thing

custome tones want to open in reason instead of hd500 edit

please explain this more. I don't understand why we are double clicking trying to open an h5e. Is this another feature that I have yet to discover? -
Unfortunately, there are way too many people who don't see it as a joke, they see it as a lifestyle. They blow off the expense of sound and lights and think they can do it themselves. All they're doing is destroying their own careers. And any future readers (because responses aren't viewed by just you) that come around next year (because posts don't have a 48 hour time limit) will see your 'joke' and the 'right way to do things'. NOW... As to the rest of the post: After 30 years in the business (and two Grammy's), one would hope that I know a thing or two. But I listen more than I talk, which is one way to learn. I also don't want to see music die, which sometimes means ya gotta help the next generation learn. And how do they learn when no one is going to telll them anything in fear of being ridiculed? The only people that will tell them what to do are the people that are trying to line their own pockets --- anyone in the business can tell you - that is not always the best advice. Furthermore: I have a touch of the Autism. Highly intelligent. But I lack social skills. Particularly one that some call the Mommy-syndrome. I just refer to it as asskissing. If you ask a question, you get the answer, you don't get an emotional hand holding with someone stroking your hair saying "there there". I am no one's mother, this isn't grade school. Your time of being coddled is over.
