  1. I am going to play around with that "lead hold" idea, maybe with a reverb right after the delay to smooth it out a bit. LOVE IT! Nice job Mr. Scott.
  2. If the CV out is 0-5VDC, then your scaling to 20-60 is correct. I looked all through the manual and did not find where the CV is 0-5VDC though. I could have missed it.
  3. UPDATE. I had my receiver base powered up this weekend. I let my transmitter fully charge, then just pulled it out about 1/4" until the LED went out. After a couple of minutes, the receiver base started blinking red. I put the transmitter into my guitar and started playing, all was good. So, my unit does the same thing, but all is well. I am not sure why it didn't do that during my test last week.

    weird or normal

This^ You leave the pedal on, then bypass the send/return loop in the Helix when you want the effect off.
  5. Man if you found a way to put your Nintendo in one of the Helix loops, you have to share. I'd love to trigger some Mario tones.
  6. I do initial preset creation on FRFR to better match the system I am playing through every week. I play direct to FOH, with IEMs for the mix. I monitor through IEMs on stage, but I DO NOT make tone adjustments to make them sound better in the IEMs, because I already know my tones are good in the PA. I practice at home mostly through headphones using the same presets I have already created. I DO NOT make tone adjustments while on the headphones because I already know it sounds good in the PA. I play the same one venue, so I do have an advantage there. Even if I didn't, I would probably use the same approach, but use the global EQ for venue adjustments so you don't have to touch the presets.
  7. I would think that during the process of producing speaker IR files, the speaker frequency responses would be duplicated and thus react with the amp models as such. I really don't know much about making IRs, so I could be off base.
  8. Yes, take some time to adjust the height of your pickups to balance out the volume. That's a part of guitar setup that is not talked about very much. You just have to go by ear on that.
  9. If you stomp on the switch, it just turns that effect on/off. If you just touch the foot switch with your finger (or toes) it will show the parameters.
  10. You already have the patches created, so you just need to plug your Helix into the L1. I don't have an L1 but it looks like there is a 1/4" and XLR inputs. Go 1/4" or XLR out of the Helix into the L1, and that should be it. Set the volume on the L1 to about 12 o'clock, and use the big volume knob on the Helix to fine tune on the fly if necessary. Turn up the volume on the L1 past 12 o'clock if you need more volume. Are you singing as well?
  11. Start a support ticket with Line 6. That sounds like a hardware issue.
  12. Correct. Just use the left output and you are good to go.
  13. Yes, if the micro switch on the transmitter is depressed, it will be in "sleep" mode. Sleep mode does consume power from the battery. After it is completely charged and you turn off the power to your rig, pull out your transmitter about 1/4" so the micro switch is not made, then the battery charge should last quite a while. I have had mine unplugged for a couple of weeks and it was still good to go when I put it in the guitar.
  14. It does. I have my main presets set up as stereo, but currently only go mono to FOH at church. If you are uncertain or just want the added comfort, put in a mono simple EQ block at the end of your chain with it set flat. That will sum your signal to mono before it goes out.
  15. You may want to start a support ticket with Line 6. Sounds like a hardware/connection issue.
  16. This is a great extension option for amps with no effects loop. Paul Glover has a great video utilizing these extension cabinets in a wet dry wet scenario too.
  17. Stereo effects use much more DSP than mono, so you'll run out of DSP much earlier running stereo. Keep in mind, mono is not an option for reverbs. If you are running mono, use all mono effects. If you decide to run stereo, use all mono effects before your amp and cab/IR, then stereo after that.

    Helix FAQ

I didn't know anything about these. This looks like a FANTASTIC option for anyone wanting to use an amp without an effects loop. You go out from the speaker out of your amp, to the Laney, they from the Laney to your amps speaker. Wow!
  19. I am not a DJ, but I use USB 3/4 as an input and put effects on that input, then output to XLR. I have some pads in MP3 format that I play on Path 1A with some delay and reverb on it. You can use the returns in the same fashion.
  20. Yep, buy from Sweetwater. I've had mine about a year, and I am still finding new things to improve my sound. Find someone in your area that you know that may be willing to sit down with you and play with theirs. I did that recently at home with a guy at church that is interested. It helped him out greatly having me show him around on it.

    Helix Effects

Quite a few people looking for ambient land up putting a pedal or two in the loops. The Helix reverbs and delays are good, but there aren't any engineered specifically for the ambient crowd. You can combine reverbs/delays in different configuration to get some good results, but it's definitlely not drop in and go. If you already have a Big Sky, just put it in the loop and you are good to go.
  22. Every guitar seems to be different in this aspect. I notice this even between strats and teles.
  23. ...and in the Helix, all you have to do is move the blocks around on the screen. It's a beautiful thing.
