Does your band play isolated at church, or do you have amps/monitors on stage? Was your Vox mic'ed and went to FOH through the mains and monitors? Just a couple of questions to better answer your concerns. I use Helix at church, and we are isolated on stage. No open amps and we use in ear monitors. Helix does that well, and it will also work well if you have amps/monitors on stage. You can even build your "normal" Vox tone with the Helix. At home, I play though a couple of JBL Eon 610s. If you need an amp/speaker on stage with you, just connect one or two to the Helix, and you are ready to go.

It does kind of, but it won't hurt anything to do so. However, you won't be able to do anything with it since you don't have a Helix to connect to yet.

No measurement, just a padded guesstimation. I am experiencing less than a half second on my large presets, so I just round up to a 500ms as my worst case. In any case, I can still find room musically to change presets if necessary.

Yes, you can.

Oh no man, not at all. You would be surprised. There are lots of great contemporary Christian artists putting out some great music, and some really rockin' stuff as well.

Great sound! It just goes to show that a Marshall model and a bunch of drive pedals is NOT too heavy for church. Love it! My church chain is one or two deluxe compressors, Timmy, Minotaur, Plexi, modulations, and parallel reverbs/delays. I can go from super clean ambient sparkle to a soaring lead tone, and everything in between. There are occasions where I have the amp model cranked out and the Timmy and Minotaur both on. Love getting my worship on with my guitar!

I change patches mid song sometimes, but I find a place musically where it is appropriate to implement (yes, with the 500 ms gap). That's what we have to do as musicians...find a way to make music with the tools we have with the capabilities that they have. If you can't find a 500ms gap musically to change patches, then don't change patches mid song. If you are letting the inability to change patches mid song squash your musical creativity, then maybe you need to venture outside the box a little more.

definitely start a support ticket with Line 6 so they can dig into the code on that amp model. It makes me wonder if other amp models will do that with the bass/mid turned to zero.

You may try other USB ports on the machine giving you problems.

That is great! I may do this and keep my guitar specific patches segregated by 1-10 = strat, 11-20 = tele, etc...

$0.99...really? Well, I can't pass that up. I'll check it out.

Something cheap and easy like this will work https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ISOBLOX

I don't even bother with anyone else's presets from customtone either. Drop in a compressor and a preamp block and go out to your power amp and cab. There are also some bass specific drive pedal models as well if that is your thing. If you find a tone you like, then you can start adding some effects before/after your preamp block.

Cool, let us know how it turns out.

volume pedal before the delay and reverbs. Sounds like you have it at the very end of your chain.

I submitted in ideascale a while back having two "layers" of snapshots. Basically, two independent groups of snaps to be assigned instead of just one. This would allow one group of snaps for tone shaping, and another group for time based control.
-
True. I have my snapshot edits set to "discard", so when I hit a snapshot, it loads up what was originally saved. My stomps on the bottom row will toggle on/off effect blocks. However, my snapshots are saved "dry" so that they only effect amp and overdrive pedal parameters. So if I am playing on my "clean" snap, turn on a delay, then hit my "crunch" snap, the delay state reverts to what was saved for that snap. There is no one particular work flow that works for everything. If you are wanting to make dramatic changes in a single preset, then snaps is perfect for that. If you want the most flexibility within a single preset, I am finding 10 stomp mode works better for me. I have many stomps programmed to change multiple parameters. Etc... Your needs will vary.

Does it happen on a particular preset, or does it happen on a variety of presets? I had an old preset built on 2.00 that for some reason would lock up the Helix upon loading that preset. I rebuilt that preset (the best I could from memory) and deleted the old preset. The issue went away.

Keeping direct sun off of the Helix is a must in my opinion. Just putting a fan on it, but leaving it in the direct sun light is futile.

You can open up a support ticket with Line 6, and they can walk you through the process if it can be done. I don't have a Spider, so I am not sure.

Your guitar pickups are picking up some electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic noise, from something in your surrounding area, in the same room perhaps. I have guitars with "noiseless" pickups, and I still get noise from EMI from some nearby LED lighting fixtures I have in the same room. When I move to the location that I get the most buzz, I can rotate my body 90 degrees, and it goes away for the most part. Noiseless pickups are engineered to remove 60 cycle hum, but will still pick up EMI. If you can, move your helix rig to a completely different location in your home or studio to get your guitar away from that area. Or if you have a wireless, even better. You can then move your guitar away from the area to see if your buzz goes away.

Yes, you can do this. Remember, snapshots only change parameters that you assign to snaps (parameter will be in brackets). Everything else can be independently controlled by the stomps on the other row. I have quite a few presets set up like this.
