It would seem that you would need the specific algorithm that Helix uses to alter the wav files. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll include file conversion as part of the new and improved IR file handling in future EDIT updates. It might be something that can be reverse engineered by comparing an original wav file and one that has been imported/exported with the Helix. That's a data/digital engineering topic though, and not my forte.

^ what PH said ^ You won't want to get rid of one of your signal paths just for that anyway. What board does your church have? We use a Behringer X32 and we use the P16 in ear monitor systems on stage so everyone has their own IEM mix.

Check your MIDI settings in Global. When you do a firmware update, all global parameters revert back to factory default.
-
As long as your transmitter goes into sleep mode after about 4 minutes, then you are most likely on the latest firmware.

the 3 band compressor is pretty handy for tightening the bottom end and leaving the rest of the frequency band alone if you don't want to effect mids and highs.

What frfr speaker/amp do you guys use for at home and jamming?
jbuhajla replied to spearmint95's topic in Helix
My at home is a couple JBL Eon 610s, which translate presets well over to QSC K10 based PA system. -
Give it a try since you already have them. Keep it simple at first. I don't know what kind of playing you do, but drop in your favorite amp model, your favorite cab or dual cab model (try two different cabs with two mics and two different early reflection settings), and throw in a reverb after the cabs. My current favorite with my strats/teles is Brit Plexi Brt amp (don't change any parameters on it), Dual cab: 4x12 greenback 25 R121 Mic 25% early reflection, 2x12 Interstate R121 mic 100% early reflection, Cave reverb after the cab dwell at 1.5 seconds high cut at 1kHz and mix at 30% or so. Plexi cleans up really nicely with the guitar volume knob. Sounds great on bridge humbucker on my HSS strat too.

If I ever have the need to switch presets mid song (very rare), I always find a 500ms gap musically to make it happen. I know the hardware can't be instantaneous, so I will make it work on my end.
-
In that case, a powered speaker may be useful for your application.
-
Be careful, you may never go back from FRFR once you try it. I don't play through any "real" guitar amps any more. Just a couple of JBL EON 610s at home, and through front of house/in ear monitors everywhere else where possible.

That is exactly what you are doing, the reverb is "going around" the delay. There is not a right and wrong way, they are just different. When I want to have my delay repeats defined and not get washed out by the reverb, I run them in parallel. When I want a more washed out ambient type of effect, I run them in series. For even more ambient effect, I run normal reverbs and delays in series, then run Particle and Octo verbs in parallel around those. It all depends on what is appropriate for your particular piece of music.
-
Open up a support ticket with Line 6 and they will get you taken care of.
-
I also do a high cut in the reverbs at 1kHz with the mix no more than 50%. That takes some of the high "shrillyness" out of them.
-
I usually run reverbs and delays in parallel paths so that my delays maintain definition and do not get washed out by the reverbs. If I want a more ambient/synthy sound, I run them in series so it all gets kind of mixed up together.

Just a UK power cable. The Helix has a "universal" power input (110-220VAC, 50-60Hz)

I just submitted an Ideascale entry for having the option to turn the cursor scrolling (pac man effect) off. I am writing a manual for Helix for visually impaired users. I am finding that if cursor scrolling (pac man effect) could be turned off, a visually impaired user would be able to reference the cursor to the input of path 1A with a few clicks of the joystick, giving them a home reference of their signal path screen. This allows them to know where their cursor is and can navigate easily from that start point. Without having a know start point for the cursor, you really don't know where the cursor is and how to figure out where it is. Try covering your Helix display and try to figure out where your cursor is. I didn't find any other entries pertaining to this idea on Ideascale. Vote it up! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/901810

I don't think the Altos have the "monitor mode" switch built in to them, rolling off some bass response if used as a wedge. Not that it is critical, but Yamaha and JBLs have that option. -
I would return it from where you bought it for an exchange.
-
Philip Bynoe uses Helix primarily.
-
Agreed on both points.
-
What I do when I have a question about a parameter on a specific effect is look up information on the original effect that they modeled. The parameters in Helix usually follow the original. That doesn't work for the Line 6 original effects. That just takes some intuition and/or experimentation.

Using powered mixer to passive speaker or using a powered speaker will give you the same results. Just be sure to set your EQ flat on the mixer, and you should be good to go.
-
Search for Helix 4 cable method, there are many videos out there that can step you through it.
-
The manual is on the USB memory stick. They don't include printed copies.

Are you talking about using the factory presets? If so, I don't recommend using those as a reference. There is a factory preset already set up for 4 cable method. Preamp models are going to play differently when ran with different real guitar amps. When you run it into the front end of your amp, you are essentially running through two preamps, then to your power amp section. When you run into your return, you are running the modeled preamp into the power amp section of your H/K. Some preamp models may not as good as others through your power amp section. You will just have to experiment. I would start with the 4 cable method and go from there.
