  1. Not from the USB cable, so my guess it's part of the POD's USB port. You might want to look at getting it repaired.
  2. You might also consider bypassing the 18i20 for recording the HD500X. I would install the Line 6 drivers, connect the HD500X to your PC via USB, and select the HD500X's ASIO driver in Sonar as your source.
  3. A few things to check . . . Make sure that the UX2 is selected in the Hardware section in Preferences. Try a different USB port Do not use a USB3 port Try a different USB cable Other than that, I can't help.
  4. Your packs are tied to your user ID, and can be used on up to four devices simultaneously :) You can save your presets to your PC and import them into your other POD. You'll need to run either GearBox, or Line 6 Edit (not the HD Edit, but the original one) You will also find that your tones will sound different live than they do in the studio. Prepare to do some tweaking. I'll leave your FX loop question for those more experienced with this setup :)
  5. To each his own! I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it satisfies your quest for tone :)
  6. Try moving the mic back away from the keyboard more to get the keyboard out of your mics cardioid pattern. Additionally, condenser mics, like your At2035 are typically sensitive to sounds, even a bit outside of the cardioid pattern. If moving the mic doesn't work, you might try a dynamic mic, which should be less sensative.
  7. I leave mine plugged in and turned on all of the time. No problems.
  8. I'm not familiar with the Blue Yeti, but it depends on whether the Yeti uses an ASIO driver. POD Farm 2.5 needs to see devices via ASIO. Note that you will still need to have the UX2 plugged in, as your copy of POD Farm depends on your UX2 for licensing.
  9. One more thing to check . . . Open up the "Mixer View" tab in POD Farm 2 and make sure that the inputs are set to "Instrument"
  10. Unfortunately, there is no single pedal that will work with both the old and FBV Line 6 pedal systems. You could try to pick up a used Line 6 FB4 (4 button controller), or a Line 6 Floorboard controller. There are plenty of them on eBay.
  11. Sorry, but it's been years since I tried the Elixirs. If I recall correctly, the plink was less with new regular strings. Again, if I recall correctly, DR coated strings seemed to work well on my VAX300.
  12. You can select the inputs without opening POD Farm by selecting the your UX2 as the ASIO input from within your recording software. After you do that, there should be an option for ASIO configuration (it's called different things in different recording programs) on the same screen. You can select the inputs from there.
  13. The quest for the right strings isn't uncommon. Over the years I've found that I've grown to like different strings, depending on the guitar and pickups. For example, I like GSS 10-46 Boomers for my HSS Strat, but I like D'Addario ESX110's for my LP. I've tried just about all of the brands, but these are what I've settled on, based on my own playing style and preferences. I've stuck with the D'Addario ESX110's on my JTV59, because it has a similar feel to my Les Paul. I'm still searching for the "right" strings for my Taylor 814. Currently I'm using DR Snakeskins, but that will probably change. I also have an old Variax 300 and I did try Elixer's on it. I found them to bring out the piezo "plink" too much for my taste. I haven't tried them, on my JTV59, since I'm happy with the D'Addario's (so far).
  14. Make sure that the ASIO driver for the UX2 is set so that one of your inputs is set to "MIC" By default all of the inputs are set to use the instrument input. Have you read the manual yet? It has some good tips for setup.
  15. A few years ago Line 6 made a change in the licensing structure so that your licenses follow your Line 6 account. If you get a replacement POD XT you should be able to use your previously purchased licenses.
  16. Can you please show us a screen shot of the hardware panel from "Preferences" under the file menu?
  17. Have you run Line 6 License Manager? After that I'm out of ideas, other than a reinstall.
  18. Open "Preferences" from the file menu, and go to the "Hardware" section. Make sure that your UX2's ASIO driver is selected. I was able to duplicate your issue. I had the driver for another ASIO device accidently selected.
  19. Make sure you are installing from the latest versions of software. You can find them here http://line6.com/software
  20. I do not believe that it is anything special for Variax. You can give the transmitter pack a name to make it easier to find with the receiver. It looks like Line 6 simply named the transmitter pack in the photo "Variax +"
  21. The HD500X is the current, shipping, POD model, so it is definitely supported. That said, if you are going to purchase ANY product from ANY company, consider buying it for what it can do NOW, and not what the company may add to it in the future.
  22. The HD500X has amp/cab simulations, but you will still need powered speakers to hear the output. Unpowered speaker cabs will not work without a power amp. Another option is to run the HD500X directly into a PA system.
  23. Great topic, and certainly timely for me, as I'm considering taking my JTV59 with me on a flight for the first time next week. Sounds like the soft bag as a carry on is the way to go. Thanks.
