How to make mono tracks with POD Farm 1.1?
BigChas52 replied to filipfrei's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
It is not automatic. In POD Farm, pan the output hard left, and in reaper, create a mono track with the left input as the source.- 2 replies

Just going by history. Line 6 releases a new model every 3-4 years. The HD x series was a face lift, mostly because they could no longer get all of the parts for the HD and were forced into a new series of the same thing. I could be wrong, but the HD and HDx series is old enough that I think we'll see a new product before seeing new models.

If a particular amp model hasn't shown up on the HD series by now, it's a good bet that it will not ever show up. That said, make your requests know on ideascale. Perhaps they'll add them to the next generation of PODs.

Some tips: 1. Do not use a USB 3 port. Use USB 2.0 2. Make sure you are running Monkey in "Administrator" mode. Right click the Monkey icon and select "Run as Administrator" 3. If those fail. Download the firmware update directly from http://line6.com/software and use Monkey to install it manually.

There are a few sims on the X3 that aren't in POD Farm. Dimension is one of those.

Nether the Pro X, nor the Scarlett 2i2 contain an amplifier. JBL 305's are passive speakers, thus you will need to plug the Scarlett into an amplifier that in turn powers the JBL's. I can't help you with how to get your computer to record from your Scarlett 2i2. Perhaps reading the manual may be in order.

Hope this doesn't violate forum policy, Dream Rig FS
BigChas52 replied to NoelEiffe's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Thinking about this topic, there are a few points worth mentioning: 1. Not everyone hears, or perceives, things the same way. Some of us are more discriminating than others. If you aren't getting the tonal quality you like out of the "Dream Rig" then it probably is not for you. Like Chuckie, I hope you find the gear combination that satisfies your ears and soul. 2. Electronics gear often comes off of the line with defects that are not exposed during the manufacturing, or even the quality control process. Sometimes it takes a bit of time and "burn in" for these defects to begin to show up. That's why Line 6 provides a warranty period, during which time, the device can be repaired or replaced at no cost. Advice: During break-in periods (and even after), have a backup plan (see #5 below) 3. In my opinion, the JT Variax as well as the HD500/x are consumer grade gear, but fun and versatile. The guitars aren't even a pale shadow of something like a Les Paul Custom Shop. The HD500/x's are a bucket full of compromises, and at heart are computers, that will most likely die, or become obsolete in time. It can also be argued that the POD will not match the sound quality of a well crafted, expensive, tube amp, or even higher end modelers, such as those from Kemper, or Fractal Audio. The HD PODS are also A LOT less expensive than the others I've mentioned. If you've got expensive ears, and a wallet that can indulge them, by all means, go for it! :) 4. The DT Amps, to me, are the high point of the "Dream Rig" in terms of sound, versatility, and quality. However, being high voltage electronics devices, they can be susceptible to heat, electronics failure, and tube wear. These can sometimes fail as well during a performance, as can almost any amp. 5. I only play out with my rig about once a month, and I have had no failures in the last couple of years of gigging with it. That said, I always have a fallback if one of the elements fails. For my JT59, I can fall back to the mags. For the HD500, I can plug my guitar directly into my DT25. For the DT25, I can plug my HD500 directly into the PA system. I keep a set of "Pre" tones for using my DT25, and a set of "Normal" tones for going PA direct. Is this ideal? No, but it will get me through the show. If your performance demands that you have full replacement ability and exact tones for every song during a show, then bring replacements for everything. I would find it hard to believe that high paid professionals don't bring backup gear "just in case" By the way, I'm not making these points as a "Line 6 Expert," but as a regular guy who likes to play, enjoys the flexibility that the "Dream Rig" offers, and finds the tones to be easily good enough to sit nicely in the band's mix. My $.02 USD Cheers, Big Chas -
Miguel . . . Might I suggest that if you have had the same issues on 2 separate PC's, multiple USB cables, and multiple ports, then the issue may very well be a defective HD500X. Can you return it to where you purchased it and get a replacement?

Also, as I mentioned previously, do not use a USB 3 port. I also noticed from a couple of your screencaps, that the ESN is not coming up. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the ROM chip in your HD500X. Monkey will not respond nicely unless it can see the ESN.

Are you using a USB2 or USB3 port? USB3 ports are dodgy with Line 6 stuff.

How are you listening? Unless you are using the GX's headphone or analog outputs, you will have latency.
-
Make sure you have the latest version of Monkey installed. You can find it here http://line6.com/software When you run Monkey, make sure you are running it as an administrator (right click the icon and select "Run as Administrator") Update all drivers and programs from there.

TonePort UX2 has no Sound? And Recording issues?
BigChas52 replied to chrisaa92's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
1 & 2 - The way I do it is to connect the 1/4" analog outs to my PC's AUX input. That allows me to monitor in real time. Adjust the volume controls to suit yourself. 3 & 4 - In Reaper, set the UX-2's ASIO driver as your input. Create a track. Mute the track to avoid latency echo. Arm the track by pressing the red "record" button. Press "play" to record. After you've recorded the track, remember to unpress the "record" button, and unmute the track. 5 - Read the UX2 manual. It has good information -
The problem you are having is that analog-to-ASIO tends to add latency. There is little to be done for that. By the time the signal gets to your recording software, there is so much latency that what you hear is pretty much useless for monitoring purposes, although you can still record effectively. The solution is to monitor the guitar signal before ASIO4ALL gets hold of it. Many input devices allow for low latency monitoring at the device level. For example, Line 6's UX1 uses "Tone Direct" monitoring. You plug your headphones, or monitors into the UX1, not your PC. Unfortunately, Tracklink Guitar does not give you a way to monitor externally.
-
The only difference between PF1 and PF2 is that with PF2 you can put the effects in any order. No additional effects unless you purchase the model packs, which could also be used with PF1. There is no difference in tone between GuitarPort and UX.
-
Some folks find milliseconds of delay to be objectionable. ASIO can be quirky as well. 1/2 second is possible. Still better off doing as I suggest for live play :) Cheers
-
Even using the POD's ASIO driver, you will still get a bit of latency for live play. It's OK for recording, while monitoring through the HD500's headphone out, XLR outs, or 1/4" outs, but most people find the delay objectionable for live use when using USB/ASIO on a PC.
-
Using USB for playback pretty much always creates a lag situation. A better alternative is to plug your headphones into your HD500 and monitor from there. If you need to, temporarily change your computers "speaker" setting to the HD500 and play your MP3's through there as well. An even better way is to patch the HD500's 1/4" outs into the AUX/MIC input of your PC's sound card. I've been doing that for years with great results.

No signal on my Pod Studio UX2
BigChas52 replied to jorgenahr's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Are you licensed for POD Farm 2.57? You might want to check the license manager. In the mean time, try installing POD Farm 1.13, which does not need a license to operate. Also, when you look in the "Mixer" tab, what are the inputs set to? -

Also, when you run Monkey, start it by right-clicking, and select "Run As Administrator" Line 6 hardware pdates often fail on Windows 7 and 8 unless you start Monkey as an admin. -
Can i Hide Presets I can't use?
BigChas52 replied to edkilpatrick's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You'll find the tones in your Documents folder (Windows), under Line 6\Tones\POD Farm 2\ You can manually move them somewhere out of the way.
