I've got the app and tried playing several songs I loaded to my iPhone by downloading the mp3s - purchased through pledge music. The less obscure songs do find tones using the tone match. No streaming as no BT device but it plays through my iPhone speaker while it finds a guitar tone.

If you'd only be buying the amplifi as a speaker then for your needs some separate speakers may be the best option - unless the amplifi gives you the HQ FRFR stereo speaker system at the right wattage for less than the alternatives. That all said - personally if it were my choice Id have rather paid a bit more to have HD amp models. But I still think for the target market L6 will still sell lots to people who will just hear that it sounds good and not be bothered that its X3 tones. Cheers Andy

Good idea there, I totally hadn't thought of that. Basically the Amplifi is just seen as a bluetooth speaker as I understand it so yeah that should work fine Cool!

Perhaps my previous statement fits my own personal situation more than it does for the majority of people. if that's the case then my opinion is valid to me, just as your opinion is valid to you. But I still stand by what I said and how I meant it (perhaps I didn't word it very well to convey my actual meaning :wacko: ) - I'll try to clarify my opinion further: I personally do this, and the majority of my friends have at least 1 iphone or ipad in their household, and for most people their iPads are shared with partners and kids. So why would it be so wrong to use an ipad that's available in your house to dial in your 4 presets (perhaps over time - it doesn't have to be a set it once only) and then use those 4 presets directly on the amp. If you want to play music you can use any Bluetooth device or anything with a 1/8" output to connect tot he Amplifi's aux input. I don't know many people who don't have am MP3 player or phone with MP3's on it... Like I said, this is my opinion. I'm not trying to defend the product to the Nth degree like a Ninja :ph34r: , I'm trying to suggest that it's still a useable product for some people who don't personally have an iOS device, but may have regular access to one. Perhaps I used the word friend to describe this earlier, and of course I don't expect you to keep asking a mate to borrow his iPhone for a few days - I agree with you, that's never going to work - but if you have android there might be an app later in the year (this isn't confirmed by L6 though). people with Android and iOS devices do make up a large proportion of mobile devices, so that should suit most people (assuming the android app does happen). The point I made separate to that about only needing 4 presets... Well think about this: how many people have the lower spider amps (4 presets only) and other makes, like Roland Cubes, and marshall tube amps (hell just about most tube amps) which have 4 channels or less. If it's impossible to use just 4 channels as that's not enough, why do some of those other products sell so well too? Again, this wont fit everyone, but a lot of people will be fine with 4 presets and those who want more can get more with iOS and soon (hopefully) with Android. Oh and yeah I'm on the line 6 payroll, they pay me for each post I make by giving me a truck load of AMPLIFi's and each post I make that people disagree with gets me a bonus AMPLIFi HD (doesn't exist before anyone asks). Yeah that and having the words expert under my avatar make me think I am a demi-God... Yeah srsly! Oh wait... that's all in my dreams :D Just trying to help out here and suggest ways to make Amplifi work for people who may on the face of it think "well I don't have an iOS device, so I can't use it"... a little out of the box thinking may mean you can. The draft manual I have seen shows either a keyboard, mixer or mic going into the aux in, hence why I feel anyone with a pod HD or multiple instruments and a small mixer can use it to amplify whatever you want it to. So you could still jam with backing tracks played from any bluetooth device streamed to the amplifi or use a small mixer into the aux input to feed other media players into it if you don't have a bluetooth device. This amplifi had lots if potench for flexibility. For anyone wanting to know more about how the Amplifi works, or what the iOS app will do - download it from the App Store for free and take a look. When you start the app It starts with a few tips and info slides which are very useful for understanding what it's all about and then comes the app itself. Once those few great tips slides have finished you enter your L6 account and then it drops you into the app which initially shows you your music library. Pick a track to play and straight away it downloads some presets that are suitable from CustomTone. Press the menu icon top left and you can get to the tone editor and really start to see how easy this will be to use with an Amplifi and even on an iPhone screen the icons are big enough for larger fingers to use easily. Give it a try even if you're one of the few initially thinking this product isn't for you - you might like it Cheers Andy

Amplifi 150 + pod hd500x = already gives you what the OP is asking for, well almost. The tone management would be on the pod itself or a PC editor. Need more power? Well use a pair of amplifi 150's one for the left and one for the right output from a pod HD. All that said, I feel this new product is great for more of a beginner market or certainly for those who don't 'have to have' HD tones, and who want a simple way to jam at home to their music library. 75% of my playing is at home jamming to my iTunes library... So for me although I rarely use anything but a pod HD, and occasionally a sonic port, this amplifi would give me a great and simple practice utility and stereo for playing my music. Cheers Andy

And with deep tone editing on iOS and hopefully later this year android (unconfirmed). And it's portable, and it's a mini PA, and it's got a shed load of high quality amp tones (inc lots not available in HD yet - x3 tones were at a higher sample rate than XT).... You can also store 4 presets in the amp once downloaded or configured on an iOS device. You can then tweak some standard amp controls on the amp itself (drive,bass,mid,treble,reverb, and one fx parameter) and restore the settings on the amp. An fbv mkii express or SB can then recall those 4 presets on stage. Hope this helps Andy

That's my understanding too, as in the Andertons demo video they mention 6000+ existing tones on custom tone. Also I think the number is amp models and FX listed suggest its the full x3 amp and fx list - which includes all the PF Platinum models (same as XT + all model packs). Cheers Andy

I don't have the weight specs for the amplifi but I do have a couple of thoughts about how the amplifi 'could' perhaps fit what you're after. Check this video: That's Andertons review video and here are some things that I picked out: It's loud - you mentioned 200 watts, well would the Amplifi 150 be close enough? The captain was holding on his lap an amplifi 75 for a long time in that vid. If it were 30-40lbs I'm sure he wouldn't have been comfortable enough to do that - hence I think it may be light enough for you. You mention the L6Link missing as an issue. Well in my opinion there's no big benefit you'd get from it. The amplifi does no power amp switching like a DT25/50 or daisy chaining like a StageSource PA speaker. So basically you would use it as a line input and the amplifi already has one of those. Just set the pod HD to studio direct and get a stereo adapter cable and rock out!! It wouldn't fit everyone's needs, but for some people who only use a few tones or who want to use it more as a music player, why not? How's about the number of people who use amps with 2-4 channels. That said I was meaning more borrowing an iOS device from someone you live with. Sure that doesn't suit everyone, but for some it would just fine. If it doesn't suit you then that's cool, but it will work for some. Peace Andy

Just to help clarify a few things: Android app is due later in the year. But bluetooth should work with anything, it's only the app that needs iOS at the moment. You can still dial in sounds on the amp to a point and store them in 4 preset locations on the amp. Perhaps those without an iOS device can still have one and use a friends phone to setup some presets and then the knobs on the amp can tweak the preset fx too. many people who I know who don't have an iOS device have someone they live with who has one so the market is still potentially huge. The handle is built into the top of the units The 150watt version has a 12" guitar speaker built in - should be good enuf to gig for smaller venues and mic that main speaker for the guitar tones for big gigs. The other 4 speakers I assume will be used mostly for the high freq sounds from the recorded music played via BT. I doubt Yamaha would have had enuf time to influence the branding. Hardware is usually signed off months before a release so factories have time to start production. Yamaha has only been the owner for 1 month. I think its minimal branding is so it isn't obviously a guitar amp if you have it in your living room. The tone matching sounds a great idea to me, as does the portability. Sure line6link would have been great, but none of the switching that the DT amps and L2/L3 PA have are in this amplifi. So why add l6link just to carry sound when an aux in is already provided. Just plug in and select studio output on the pod HD. L6link wouldn't give you anything more. Would I have liked HD sounds? Sure. But the x3 sounds are still good, and I guess my fav the 5150 will be in there!!! YAY Do I think there should be a line out? Would have been good for sending out to the FoH board. Do I see that some people who want a lower cost solution for a good home audio system and guitar amp will buy one of these. Hell yes!!! Cheers Andy

I don't believe it does have a looper , but you can always add a looper between your guitar and the amplifi input

The express or shortboard MKII can select A,B,C or D preset (stored in the amp), control tap tempo and tuner, and also expression control of assigned parameters. Cheers Andy

Id try reinstalling the firmware. Go to www.line6.com/software and download line 6 monkey. Install it following the onscreen instructions and selecting the right pod drivers during the install. When that's done connect your pod to PC using USB, let the driver install which should happen automatically, then laugh the installed line 6 monkey. Update if available or just reinstall the existing firmware/flash memory. Then do a pedal calibration (search on this forum for the link). Does that fix it? If not I'd boot up the pod into the same mode as pedal calibration but instead do the button tests (search on here for instructions for hd500 test mode). That may flag an issue. I guess if it's still faulty, return it to the store for assistance. Cheers Andy

Yes that's right. Here's the important line in the specs for the behringer: 2 programmable, relay-controlled switch jacks Those are for switching amp channels which need simple on/off switched jacks, and I think from memory if you read the manual they can be set for different modes to suit different amps. Perhaps normally open or closed, latching or momentary. But check the manual and specs for the amps to confirm compatibility before buying. Cheers Andy

I have no doubt it would work - but with a couple of things for you to consider as to whether it will work well enough for gigging: Let's take for example the line 6 wireless systems. The user guide for the G30 specifically mentions connection the output to pedals or an amp input. So if your amp had an fx loop that can send and receive at instrument level (-10db) then that should work ok. Also your pod should be set to amp output level etc. No guarantees but it may work ok. You could also think about hiring 4 wireless systems to try it out before blowing a lot of cash on something that in theory may work - in practice sometimes surprises us. Hope this helps Andy

I know Andertons had a couple of batches of B-Stock JTV's (various models). they seemed to suggest they came from Line 6 as factory B-Stock items with tiny visual blemishes on the finish, but functionally perfect - and many of those blemishes apparently polished out so you got a great guitar for 50% off! There is also new lower pricing of JTV's anyway and I seem to recall that was £100-200 off previous pricing. whether they have been discontinued I have no idea - but the above is all I know. the specs of that supply look ok to me. "I've heard on the internet that Pocket Pods can get damaged or break if they don't get the correct charger" That's true of the majority of all electronic/electrical devices in the world though so it's always worth checking. cheers Rowbi

in the DT50, the additional 12AX7 does this boosting - as far as I know, it's done in DSP in the DT25, but I'm not sure whether it just boosts by the same multiplication factor for the audio signal, or whether it emulates a 12AX7 for the boost. it's something that PODs can control as part of the amp models - as some of them enable the boost and others do not - by default. I think it's likely that it's just a simple vol boost in the DT25 as it's not done via a tube, so that you could likely achieve the same result with a studio EQ FX and leave the levels on flat and boost the gain/vol.
