Yeah they're worth it - they're very inexpensive. I bought them and returned them. I wasn't looking to change but wanted to see if it was something I needed. That's the great thing. You can try them out and if you don't like them, return it. I think you get 30 days, if I remember right.

Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai I guess are cheaters. I personally don't use a Sustainiac but if you want to do string tapping, nothing is better.

Get a Sustainiac pickup and you're done.

Not that I'm aware of. I occasionally, while performing live, switch presets back and forth with my footcontroller to make sure none of the knobs accidentally modified the preset before starting the song.

The PODHD is not a bunch of miniaturized amp pieces stuffed into a box. It's code stuffed into a box. They did the best they could, which I'm very happy with. But there's a few idiosyncrasies' such as PreAmp and Cab. My guess is they couldn't separate their code modules in a way that would easily allow a PreAmp without cab. Or they just plain forgot to make it an option. Or it sounded like crap...

Plug the HD500 into the FX return of the Mesa and see if the noise is gone.

and make sure input 1 is guitar and input 2 is variax,
-
On the bean it's Input2 to Mic. Also try reducing the Input Impedance, such as 32k.

It's going to be hard to out-do the AXE FXII for half the money. Not saying it's impossible but that's going to be a tuff one. If it's any where close, which I think it will be, that will definitely hurt the competition and help Line6 gain a bunch of recognition and revenue.

Hmmm, a Helix Jr. for $500 to $800 would be interesting. Maybe a bean version of the Helix...
-
And that's what I was trying to say too. The second amp didn't sound like it was recorded right so it was hard to compare.
-
I liked the first one better but mostly because the second one needed some EQ. The second amp was a little too bassy and boomy.

Your bandmates will eventually get used to it. For now it's just different.

Which Delay are you using ?

Pulse with multiple notes using my 500X pitchglide
joel_brown replied to CipherHost's topic in POD HD
I'm just going by what I read on the forums about it not being Polyphonic. Like I said, it works for me and others too. But it also doesn't work for a lot of other people. It's a topic that's been repeatedly discussed and I've never seen it resolved. Wish I had a better answer for you. -
Doesn't someone usually make a post by now that says "Tone is in the fingers"...

Pulse with multiple notes using my 500X pitchglide
joel_brown replied to CipherHost's topic in POD HD
Lots of people have said they have this problem and others, including myself, say it works fine for them. The PitchShift FX is not Polyphonic so don't hold your breath for a fix from Line6. I guess some of us were just lucky to not have this problem. btw - thanks for uploading the sound sample. I've been wondering what people were complaining about, since it works for me. Yeah that's unusable. Most of the music I do is hi-gain metal but I did tests using a clean sound and 7ths and 9th chords. It never sounded like that. -
I've used the pitch shift in the PODHD for changing standard E tuning to D# without any problems, although some people have reported it didn't work well for them. It worked great for me. It won't do drop tunings though. I bring a second guitar with me for drop tunings. I have the same problem as I also have a Floyd Rose bridge.

It's frustrating at first, but in a good way. Some basic tips: 1) Set Input 1 to guitar and Input 2 to Aux 2) Try different Input Impedance Settings, lower number is a darker sound 3) The 4 Cable Method can work on the Desktop but I would first try Studio Out into the FX Return of an amp or Sound System. Then experiment with other methods to see which one you like the best. 4) Be prepared to spend a LOT of time learning the different ways to configure and tweak everything. You WILL find something you like the best but there's so many different ways to configure this thing that it will take a while. 5) The presets kind'a suck. Don't let that discourage you.

You can still find them new on eBay. I bought a second one off eBay that said B Stock new in box. I've never used it (or registered it) other that turn it on and put it back in the box. I'm considering selling it if you're interested.

I personally think what this person needs is the Amplifi device. Simple, easy, and sounds good.
-
Sounds like you are using a corrupt or old version of the PODHD Windows driver. Re-download the Driver from Line6 and re-install it.

I have a Squire P Bass from years ago. Plays really nice but the tone sucked and was very weak. Stuck a DiMarzio pickup in it and made a huge difference. But that's one of the first things they cheapen up on copies or low end guitars is the electronics. Usually with a good setup you can get them to play fairly good. Keyword is "Usually" not always.

Good question. I spent a lot of time tweaking my patch with my other pickup to get what I wanted but could never quite get there. I was starting to think that maybe the PODHD with my rig just wasn't capable of giving me what I was looking for. Maybe I needed to go back to an old school setup, maybe get a Helix or Kemper. Different pickup and it came alive. I'm happy and thought I'd share that info and maybe see what other people use and what their experience's are. It may end up helping someone. Like your article about changing magnets, that may help some people in the same situation.

I've tried a lot of pickups over the years. Seymour Duncans, Dimarzios, Joe Bardins, EMGs, and of course various Fender and Gibson pickups too. For a long time I settled on the DiMarzio Super Distortion. btw - Even though I play in a Black Sabbath Tribute band I just go for a high gain tone, not trying to tone match. I use Jackson Guitars and Marshall Amps with the PODHD acting as a PreAmp into the FX returns. A friend brought his Epiphone Tony Iommi Signature SG to one of my gigs and asked if I would try it out. I did a quick level check and made sure it wouldn't squeal then we kicked in. Wow - was the only thing I could think of. The pickups were friggin' amazing. Turned out they were the new Gibson Tony Iommi Signature Pickups. I did a little research and from what I could find, Gibson was working on a new set of high gain pickups then as an after thought they named them the TI Signature pickups. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is all the little things I didn't like in my tone were gone. I now had what I'd been searching for. Thick, rich, sustainy tone and no unwanted feedback or micro-phonics. And no hint of fizz either... I'm not trying to tell anyone to use this particular pickup. What I'm trying to say is maybe you need different pickups than what you have if you can't find the tone you're looking for. Also the capacitor values on the tone knob can make a big difference too. But that's another topic and this one is already too long. What pickups do you use ? What type of tone do you typically use ? Hi-gain, Blues, Clean, Country, Jazz ? Not the best recording but gives you an idea of the tone. https://youtu.be/r0ZRJ9tKzfQ
