  1. that's what i use and it's extremely versatile. it will take some learning of course... but the results will surprise you... even more than the amp itself already has.
  2. there are just people that don't accept modeling as an option... and as such never took the time to learn about the DT50 it's far more capable and better sounding than what they know... because well... they don't know.... many tone snobs instantly think 15watt 99$ spider amp when you mention line6... their loss.
  3. no, JTV alt tunings are relative... it does not have to be tuned standard... but it is going to be a different experience vs a physically detuned guitar.... string tension etc.. and then you are also comparing magnetics vs piezos etc... not 1:1 doesn't mean either is unusable. i prefer consistent string tension myself... but i'm not the alt tune target demographic... i use it more for some basic capo type stuff or maybe dropping it a step or a half step here and there.
  4. 30 day return... you can get the money back. ilok licenses can't use model packs anyway... just FYI for anyone reading that may have a standard ilok pod farm license and be considering model packs. support can generally be contacted through the support ticket system: http://line6.com/support/ for many things though, the community here can help faster.
  5. you'll want 2 main programs gearbox which is the editor and interface for the x3 hardware. and pod farm 1.x which is a plugin for recording. you don't have to worry about model packs at all with an x3, since it comes with all of them completely unlocked! if you decide that want upgrade your software pod farm 2.5+ is an option... adds some more capabilities to pod farm (midi, 64bit, multiple of the same stomp boxes, flexible effects chain, standalone usage, and hardware independent operation) don't worry if those extras don't make much sense to you now... once you start using pod farm and having questions they will make more sense. both pod farm and gearbox will work with custom tone downloads.
  6. no, its download only... the license is pre-installed, all you will need to do is download by itself or let monkey download it for you... then authorize it using the license manager (part of monkey).
  7. nice! comes with pod farm platinum 1.x too.... nice piece of gear.
  8. none of the model packs come with presets... and the metal addon is already part of platinum... so you really don't need it.
  9. 100% positive that there will be updates coming. I can't be any more specific... but there will be updates.
  10. if it were a true firmware, as in hardcoding to internal chips that would make sense... but when you view it more like a midi sysex dump... those aren't always as straight forward... and although i don't have any sort of confirmation that this is 100% the way it is... i strongly suspect that it is... other device behave the same way when a midi update gets interrupted... seems logical to me. would be great if it weren't that way... but it's worked too many times for too many people to discount it as a valid troubleshooting step.
  11. always try the things that don't cost money first... plus getting that possibility out of the way can save you alot of frustration if it were to work... maybe tired of hearing it... but i still think that's one of the appropriate early troubleshooting steps.
  12. Here's a link to the actual product you're proposing.... 49$ http://www.ddmf.eu/product.php?id=3
  13. the m5 came much much later than the m13 from which the effects were taken... meaning that all the updating etc took place on that platform long before the m5 was released. there are no updates... and there are no known issues... whatever volume issues you are experiencing are likely considered normal operation.
  14. this is how it should work.... those parameters are the equivalent of having an amp tech monkey around with your amp... you'd never do that on the fly.... if i come to the conclusion that i need to adjust one of these... rather than go and actually adjust them... i seriously consider if i might be better served choosing a different amp model. they exist to be used... sure... but they also exist to be mostly ignored IMO.
  15. i'm with the other 2 replies... you're asking to fix an issue that noone but you has... not saying that others haven't had to make adjustments etc because of their desired volume... but there is no inherent issues with the outputs on the HD500
  16. new/old... doesn't matter... ASIO4ALL essentially fakes with software what a real ASIO device uses hardware for... any latency reported etc.. is all a big fat lie... because it isn't getting the information from a hardware clock.... any pro level audio hardware that has an actual hardware addressing ASIO driver available should use that.
  17. i've heard of it and even used it... back in 1996/1997 when i was too poor for a real ASIO card and my cheap consumer card had no ASIO drivers... i was able to use it to trick my DAW at the time... (cool edit pro) worked great for a poor guy with no supported drivers..... having said that... if you have access to real genuine ASIO drivers... USE THEM! a world of difference... i don't recommend ASIO4ALL to anyone that has real ASIO drivers available.
  18. have you tried adjusting the pedal? not sure if that will affect how easily the foot switch depresses or not... but you're using that to push the switch... so i'd try the old allen wrench just to see if it made any difference.
  19. you have to go into the settings and make sure that the access to the mic is enabled.
  20. worst case scenario, you have to call support or open a support ticket... they can usually take care of it for you.
  21. you don't "HAVE" to register it... you generally can... just keep in mind you won't get any extra licenses etc.... only the pod farm 1.x software, monkey, and the drivers... if you decide you want model packs etc... then you would need to register...
  22. depends on what position too.. the 2 and 4 position tele are now wide range (72deluxe/or thinline style) pickups
  23. the line6 power supply is AC power... a generic is usually DC power... you may have possibly damaged your unit... seek out an AC power unit.. or the original line6 PX2 power supply.
  24. No users have solutions for you. Line6 doesn't do support on the forums. You might try opening a support ticket v
