  1. Ok guys... that's far enough. Please refrain from the personal insults. Thank You.
  2. you do realize that the update doesn't apply to use with line6 hardware anyway.... its only applicable if using the fbv with computer programs... updating it will not affect the way it works with an amp.... of course i concede that the update should work... just saying it's not that important to everyone though.
  3. that would be a bad idea.. seeing as how some presets from older firmware can cause the logo loop... they haven't had many significant changes... but if its worth it to you... go for it.
  4. was added in July: http://line6.com/support/forum/69-dream-rig/
  5. they've never even said that they are working on one... don't hold your breathe.
  6. you do have to assign the effects to specific footswitches... and not just change the mode. (you probably already knew...)
  7. the express is extremely limited... by default you can only change presets.... if you change the FS mode to 5-8 then you can assign and toggle individual effects.. but only within the single preset as you will lose the ability to change presets in that mode.
  8. as others have stated... you simply won't be able to use your pod 500x as a variax interface... you can use the port to power and play... just won't be able to use the software to modify your variax without buying an older pod or the interface...
  9. what software are you talking about? what hardware are you using? there have never been any confirmed statements regarding any android releases whatsoever... so you're most likely not going to get any information here. i have heard them say a number of times that they are "looking into android" for a few things... but that's far from a commitment to release anything.
  10. i'd call or submit a support ticket... http://line6.com/company/contact/ tell them what you do know and they should be able to get you sorted out.
  11. in short, you can't really... it would need to go to an authorized service center. they often come up missing if the board or something else was swapped out. to my knowledge there is nothing a user can do to fix a security chip issue. feel free to contact line6 and get a second opinion: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  12. Have you had it worked on? Looks like the security chip is missing or bad.
  13. is it possible that you simply don't own the expansion packs, and the tones just aren't supposed to work?
  14. the included VDI cable is only for use with the included interface... by design... meaning... you were never supposed to use it live anyway...
  15. no thanks.. sounds like too much work for me... not sure i'd want to play any plank that i built.... i prefer quality :D
  16. however.... I've often seen the 89F advertised as a "limited edition". not sure what it means... just throwing that in the mix.
  17. which means that it's not ASIO compliant. which means that they'll be some trade-offs... I've been in the same boat and ASIO4ALL worked for alot of things. but it is a reverse engineered "driver wrapper" that essentially tricks your system into treating your card like an ASIO card. unfortunately as you are experiencing, it's less than perfect.
  18. no, you can only access user presets and not factory presets... you can however save the factory presets to a user preset location and then you'll be able to access them from the FBV.
  19. the FBV mark I and mark II are just dumb controllers... where and how you store presets is dependent on the device you are plugging into... there is never going to be any store on the FBV type deal... i imagine that the display size was changed to accommodate the additional buttons... and the mark II footswitches are the same as the ones on the HD500... its what they were using at the time.
  20. Yeah... thats because ASIO4ALL are not real ASIO drivers... so its a real shocker that it doesn't work well with FAKE ASIO.... seriously though... you should use the software with a real ASIO interface with native ASIO drivers as it was intended. you can't expect good results if you're not willing to run the software with supported drivers.
  21. almost certainly NO. they've not done anything bass specific in a number of years... i would gladly be wrong... as i too would love to see this... but realistically it's pretty unlikely.
  22. for that price difference i'd go for the 500. the x is not worth double! some nice to haves... but no deal breakers, in my opinion.
