  1. for sure regular pod farm unless you paid extra for a license... the older redface toneports did not ever include a pod farm 2 license.
  2. I believe that the "fix" would require an update to the original workbench software which is legacy and will not be updated. 500x will work with the older variaxes just fine... simply not as an interface to the old workbench software. you can get the standalone interface, or an older pod to make changes. for me making changes the models was a rare occurrence, to others maybe not... if you were to eventually get a JTV it comes with the interface that the jtv wouldn't need because you have the pod... but you could use it for the older variaxes.... although if you had a JTV you'd probably find yourself messing with the older variaxes less and less.... unfortunately i don't think any of that's the answer you want... but for clarity... the older variaxes can be played 100% with the HDx models.... just cannot be used as an interface for the workbench software.
  3. the biggest things i'd worry about is that the nut is properly filed for your strings, and that the adjustments are uniform, meaning that everything is adjusted like you want it and "tight"... additional vibrations from anywhere can get picked up with the piezos so a saddle that's loose on one side could cause artifacts etc...
  4. they do all have separate firmwares, so it can easily be assumed that the differences are taken into account on some level. can't say i know what the difference is in this case, but i can agree that there shouldn't be a difference.
  5. they ship with 10's. i used elixir polyweb's for years on my older variax, so elixirs won't be a problem. you can use any gauge or electric guitar string you prefer as long as you have it setup good. the variaxes can be a little finicky if the setup is poor...
  6. the black SSS has a maple neck... the SSS models came later and are newer... (so early issues were fixed before they were made...) the Korean ones are solid. the factory setup is generally reasonable... whether or not you need a luthier would depend on how YOU like it.... but generally i'd recommend it.
  7. pretty sure that pod farm 1 would work on windows 8, despite the documentation not being updated.
  8. there is no harmonizer on the x3. (topic moved to correct area)
  9. (topic moved) You need to run the line6 license manager that is part of windows. this will authenticate and unlock your model pack. make sure that you log in with the same account in which the license was purchased.
  10. can be found: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  11. just get standard.... model packs are the only difference. stay away from the ilok version.
  12. I've seen these come up once or twice, really nice looking really rare... don't think they ever went to any kind of production status and never for sale to the general public.
  13. yes its possible... go to downloads link at top right of page... select the correct criteria and download the flash memory file... then in monkey select flash from file and browse to the downloaded file. i think you might do better checking the output mode and the input z settings before downgrading though... because the next update may have features you want, and you'll have to deal with it then if not now...
  14. it's not a FLAW... its by design... all pro level audio interfaces REQUIRE the same hardware for input and output to deliver the best quality.... it's simply not what YOU want... but it is 100% correct and would be the same for any interface manufacturer. when you select the correct drivers in your recording software it will NOT allow this.... if you use lesser drivers, WDM, etc... some will allow that... but you give up the quality. as i said... google apple aggregate audio devices... you can make it do what you want on the MAC.... it's not the correct way... but it is possible.... but you need to do what i said... quit looking at your DAW settings... or the Line6 settings.... and google aggregate audio device for mac.
  15. No, they used to do that with the earlier pods, but not the HD's.
  16. that's not how it is supposed to work... from your description it's running correctly... for best quality you want the same hardware controlling both the input and output... this controls latency and avoids potential digital artifacts... you can do what your asking if you don't mind the quality tradeoff.... it's of course, unsupported... but look up aggregate audio devices on the mac... it's not advisable, or preferable... but some people just want to do it anyway...
  17. there has been no announcement even confirming that they intend to make an android app. at this point the date is never... although that's pretty unofficial and they could announce/release one at any time... i'd advise against making any purchasing decisions based on an android app though.... you're wait could be considerable if it comes at all...
  18. Did you pay for a pod farm 2 license? You may need to use the latest pod farm 1. Some ux1s did not come with pod farm 2. Also the red face model does not have a license for the plugin.
  19. No... you want to do the updates... this person was particularly unlucky... not normal... the updates are generally trouble free and worthwhile.
  20. ouch even the digital pickup looks amateur.... love me some Gibson... but literally looks like they just butchered what could have been a decent LP (although not with that awful blue finish)
  21. I've already asked them to check on you... probably won't get the message until monday.
  22. you still have to change the input to mic? you may have it set globally to over ride... but typically it's per preset.
  23. Line6 is aware of the vibration issues and a fix is "imminent" At this point i'd advise against attempting any home grown fixes. I can't define "imminent" and do not know any details of the forthcoming fix... just passing on what i do know.. and that's it.
  24. its not currently possible to do anything with the usb port.
