  1. it's not really that self explanatory... as there's alot of helpful data missing... what version of OSX? have you downloaded and ran monkey? http://line6.com/software/ how are you setup to monitor things? (your speakers/headphones need plugged into the xt)
  2. you can switch tones... not independently..... but just build and save the tones how you want them recalled, it's pretty simple. unless i'm misunderstanding the question.
  3. the flextone III will work with the FBV pedals... same ones that work with footboard enabled lowdown models!
  4. Just like my 600, i thought you could do alright as long as you controlled the picking... picking too hard takes the bass feel out of it... if that makes any sense.
  5. if you're trying to use an older generation 1 variax with any of the HD-X models it won't work..... just FYI, it's not something that you can fix... they just aren't compatible.
  6. toaster is the transplant king :) whatever he did with them... i'd guess it's purple! :D
  7. windows drivers: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=5598
  8. great video, i think you need more volume/dynamics on the solo! going from that ringing 12 string straight into it seems a little challenging for sure.
  9. I've used an HD500 with an M5 in the loop... hooked up the midi cables and the m5 presets change and save with the hd500 presets. was killer! offloaded some DSP intensive stuff.... and of course i had a DT50... so I've essentially done what you're looking into to some degree... was killer as an experiment... not my everyday setup.
  10. you will always have to specify the name if you use "save as..." not sure if that's the case here.... i generally save the entire bundle and not individual banks or models unless i'm sharing them with others... and i would just use the date as name so i can keep track of my backups.
  11. not to be overly simplistic... because this one simple thing has tripped me up in the past... but after you change the name in workbench, you have to hit enter... may or may not be the case here.... but if you move to the next preset without hitting the enter key it will not keep the name...
  12. yes... you need to manually adjust the volume to taste and then save the tone again. there is no automatic way.
  13. try this: To uninstall the Line 6 Drivers from a MAC OSX computer, use the Line 6 Driver Uninstaller that is located on the computer at following file location: Applications/Line 6/Drivers/Driver uninstaller If you have used the Driver Uninstaller and still cannot succesfully install drivers or Monkey is not recognizing them as being installed, you will need to remove the remaining driver receipts using the Terminal application that is located on the computer at the following file location: Applications/Utilities Launch the Terminal application and type the following commands at the prompt: sudo pkgutil --forget com.line6.driver.xtaudio.package (then press the enter key) Enter your Mac OSX account password. Please Note: you will NOT see the cursor acknowledge any characters being input; you will need to type your system password correctly and hit "Enter". sudo pkgutil --forget com.line6.driver.xtmidi.package (then press the enter key) After entering in all of the commands above, close the Terminal application and restart your computer. Upon restarting the computer try again to install the latest version of our drivers available from our software page at: http://line6.com/software/ After the computer has restarted, reconnect the Line 6 hardware and open the Line 6 Monkey application again to check and see if your drivers are detected and up to date.
  14. you don't have to get a line6link specific cable.... look for an AES/BEU cable or even a DMX cable... they are basically digital versions of the standard XLR microphone cable. in many cases a decent quality XLR mic cable will work as well.
  15. you don't need to "save preset as".... send the preset to the variax, and then it will overwrite the name on the variax and in the local cache.. and a simple "save" should use the name given.
  16. electronics fail... the x3 was released nearly a decade ago. you may not have had it that long, and your may even be one of the later ones manufactured... but electronics do fail over time and all manufacturers have a pretty standard warranty for this reason. unfortunate that this happened... but it's hardly a line6 specific issue. the external PX2 unit alone goes for around 30$, an internal repair for only 100$ sounds like a good deal. if it's not worth 100$ for you to fix your processor (that sold for like 600$ new) then put the money towards another product and keep rocking... best of luck with your choice.
  17. they are basically the same thing... only the one has an amp and speakers.... the pedalboard to control the amplifi is the FBVMKII (shortboard or express) the express is limited to 4 presets in a single bank.... the shortboard is currently limited because the amp is limited... but the hope is that more preset locations will be added in the future... at which time you'd need the shortboard to access them.
  18. sometimes you can get a bad preset... or just one made with an older firmware that causes the issue... it will not damage your pod.
  19. I have 3 strats, all sound good and I play them all occasionally.... more for feel and their distinctive inspirations... for recording or general playing i find the variax in all it's variations and firmwares to be more than good enough... and perhaps even better than the real thing in some aspects. no harm in loving strats, and modeled strat sounds... it doesn't have to be one or the other... i wish it was, because if all i wanted was the tones the variaxes would rule them all... between their stock tones and their workbench abilities... but i have around 30 guitars in the stable, and they all feel and inspire differently... and yes i have a short list or about 10 more that i want! :) i'm insane... but dropping in to say.. just go with what inspires you... end of story. :D
  20. I had the same setup, I used the SPDIF out into the other interface... but that depends on your interface....
  21. yeah it wont say ASIO should just say drivers. you might try googling slimdrivers, run that it may find some missed driver updates that could affect performance.
  22. Sound quality, latency, additional digital to analog conversions, possible noise introduced by cables or lower quality sound cards in the signal path. A few quick examples. It's really not worth it to avoid an occasional volume adjustment IMO
  23. There really isn't a good way to use multiple sound cards. You can do it if you're willing to make some compromises. Most including myself are not.
  24. If you save all your tones at a similar "channel volume" then you should primarily only have to deal with the master volume. but yes, that's the way it works.
  25. ASIO4ALL is not supported, use monkey and get the Line6 ASIO drivers.
