  1. Actually, any of the controllers with FBV in their name will work with the Spider V. The old FBV Longboard will have some switches that don’t do anything, but it still works. The only controllers that won’t work are the really old “FB” series (the original Floorboard and such). How they all work with the Spider V is detailed pretty well in the manual. The FBV3 gives you the most information because it allow color coding of footswitches. The other thing is, though, that the earlier FBV switches are set up so that you can only have one of each type of effect in a preset. With the FBV3, none of the effects switches are set except for the Comp, so it makes it easier to keep track of what effect is assigned to what switch.
  2. Is the Deranged Master the first block in your signal chain? I believe the volume knob interaction you’re talking about is related to its low impedance input, which the Helix can replicate. If you have it as the first block and have the Input Z setting on Auto, the input impedance should be set to the lower level automatically. If you have another block as first in the chain, it could interfere with this behavior.
  3. One scribble strip will always show parameters in Stomp Mode as it shows what the knobs are currently controlling.
  4. Still one. That’s probably never going to change. From what I understand, changing it would require some major architectural changes - akin to rewriting a lot of code from the ground-up.
  5. You can install the update without creating a backup by using Line 6 Updater instead of HX Edit.
  6. If you’re not connecting stereo from the XLR outs, you could always use the XLR outs on the Powercab. You can control that level from the Global Settings menu in the Powercab itself.
  7. Yes, connecting anything to the AES/EBU - L6 Link connection disables the S/PDIF out, but the L6 Link isn’t AES/EBU. It’s a proprietary connection that’s similar to AES/EBU. The Digital Out Level parameter in the Global Settings menu has no effect on the L6 Link level, as you’ve seen.
  8. When you start Monkey, it should ask you what device you want to connect. You should be able to select the JTV from the menu there. If Monkey still isn't seeing your JTV, you may want to try a different VDI cable.
  9. Make sure you don’t have Line 6 Updater open.
  10. If it’s an IR you bought from the Line 6 Marketplace, you have to be signed into your Line 6 account in POD Go Edit for it to load. Click on where it says “My Account” in the lower left hand corner of the screen to sign in.
  11. Yikes! Well shutting down HX Edit before it was done was bad… You probably need to do a factory reset to get things working again. When you say we’re importing the wrong bundle, it implies you thought you had a right one saved. You don’t have one ? As far as a backup, have you ever updated the Helix firmware? You should have a backup from that. Beyond that, I don’t have good news. There isn’t any sort of automatic backup with Helix presets. Once you overwrite them they’re gone. You need to export them in one way or another to have them backed up.
  12. You should be able to use the HD500X as an interface for Monkey, and you should be able to update the JTV’s firmware through that if you need to.
  13. So how do you have the Walrus Audio Slarp connected? It had independent ins and outs for each side, doesn’t it?
  14. I think I read your first post too quickly… Have you tried swapping the leads from the Y cable?
  15. Go to Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Return Type and set it to Return, not Aux In.
  16. If you’re talking about the amp models, they haven’t really. I believe that some of the most DSP-intensive amp models are still some that were included in the 1.0 firmware. The polyphonic pitch effects that were released with the 3.0 update were DSP intensive, but that’s just because of the nature of what they are.
  17. Lol… The Headrush isn’t outselling the Helix. I doubt the others are, either. The QC is still not in stock anywhere. The Kemper might in Europe just because it has some pricing advantages. Speaking of the Kemper, its hardware hasn’t been updated since it first came out in 2011 (they, of course, came out with the floor version a few years ago, but it uses the same processor and firmware as the original).
  18. They certainly wouldn’t release an amp model that required all the available DSP… What would be the upside of that? Anyway, yes, Line 6 is always going to be releasing new products. I just don’t think with the Helix they’re particularly worried about doing it just because of the date on the calendar, especially since the hardware is still selling well. The current climate isn’t too hospitable for releasing new electronics products, so certainly that could be in play as well. I mean, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, and eventually you’ll be right. The thing is there were people two or three years ago calling the Helix outdated, too. So it’s like anything. You buy a product based on what it does for you now. If you can wait, than wait. Some people actually use this stuff to create music and pay the bills.
  19. I’ve tried following what was going on in this thread, but I’ve honestly given up… At one point I read something about 7 wahs, I think. That’s too many wahs… :-D

    POS GO

First of all, if this the first modeler you’ve used, you going to have to be a little patient. It’s generally not to hard to get the hang of it, but there’s going to be some learning curve just to understand the UI bad concepts around it. All the software you need to download and install comes in a single installation package with POD Go Edit. It can be found here: https://line6.com/software/ You can actually turn off the tap tempo LED if you like by going to Global Settings>Switches/Pedals and on the last page of that menu, selecting Off or Tempo Panel for the Tap Display parameter. You don’t need to buy any premium presets or IRs to make things work. Those are really just shortcuts, or ways to get particular tones. But they definitely aren’t a requirement. All of the real names of the models can be found in the manual. They aren’t permitted to display them on the unit itself for legal reasons. Basically all the Marshall models have the word “Brit” in their name, though.
  21. What product are you talking about? There’s different strategies to do what you want to do, but it varies depending on the hardware.
  22. I don’t think there was ever a functionality that allowed you to paste the same presets into multiple slots at the same time. It’s like Excel - you can only paste into the same number of slots as you originally copied. If you want to paste the same preset into multiple slots, you just have to use the Paste function multiple times. It might be some buggy behavior around that, but basically you’re trying to do something it wasn’t designed to do.
  23. I don’t think that was the thought process at all… For one thing, Native is a lot more full-featured than S-Gear or the Neural plug-ins, so there’s just far less to control in those plug ins. They can have things like fixed CC mapping because they have far fewer parameters to control. Beyond the MIDI PC thing (which does work with. AU version on Macs, btw), how would suggest the MIDI implementation be different on Native?
  24. My understanding is that it works in the AU version, but for some reason the way it needs to be written to work in the VST3 version is different because of the Steinberg spec. So I don’t know if it’s something they’ll change or not.
