Well, the cable is the easiest thing to troubleshoot. I'd start with seeing what happens with another cable first. I wouldn't be surprised if it is that.

Hmmm... You're definitely justified in feeling frustrated! Do you know what firmware you're running on the amp? If you can get the USB installer to work, that's probably what I'd focus on first. Have you tried different USB cables? Does the Amplifi show up on your computer at all when you connect it via USB?

I forgot about that. But, yeah, I believe they left that off simply to save space on the front panel. I don't think most people would ever miss. All that does is act as a control to whatever effect parameter you assign to it. It can only control one parameter at a time, so it kind of has a very limited use in the first place. With the TT being something designed to use at home or in the studio, there's probably not many situations where you'd use it without having the app open.

They are the same units other than the form factor. They both have the same amp, cab, and effect models. I think what you're seeing is a difference in the way they have specs called out on the two product pages. On the FX100 page, it says: Over 200 amps, effects and speaker cabinets On the TT page, it says: 70+ guitar amps, 100+ effects and 20+ speaker cabinets I don't know why they changed the way it was written for the TT, but they're both exactly the same as far what you can do with the signal chain. The real difference between the FX100 and the TT is that you have the expression pedal on the FX100, and you can access all 25 banks from the hardware itself. On TT, you can only access one bank without connecting with the app or having an FBV Shortboard. You also have an optical digital out on the TT.

The modeling is based on the POD Farm/XT/X3 modeling, so in that sense, it's older than the HD technology.

I don't ever remember seeing such a screen when I turned on my M13. I know the PODs do that, but I don't believe any of the M-series pedals do that.

Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you aren't the best person to be working on the guitar. It sounds like your client would maybe benefit by having the guitar looked at by an authorized service center. The one string not working could be symptomatic of a failed piezo, which isn't all that uncommon with the first generation Variaxes. But it's something that a service center could take care of.

They're definitely not no load pots. I don't know if it would be feasible to use those or not because of the way the tone control interacts with the digital portion of the guitar. It would probably take some relatively tricky rewiring. Changing out the pickups is actually not all that different than changing pickups in any electric. Quite a few people have done that.

Nope, there's not really anything that will allow you to do that sort of polyphonic shifting. There is the Bender effect which a monophonic pitch shifter, but it will glitch out pretty quickly if you try doing anything but single notes.

If you're talking about one of the original Variax guitars, I don't know how much difference a buffer would make anyway. They have low impedance outputs, so I would think that there would be less high-end roll off than with a traditional high impedance guitar output. That being said, I would be surprised in the XPS AB switch wasn't a buffered output pedal. It's an active circuit, not just a passive switch.

You can search for tones manually still in the remote app, though, even if you don't have the songs actually in your library. So it would be possible to stream from Spotify and then still use the tones that come up in a manual search. It's not as elegant as the internal tone-matching, for sure, but it might work for what you want to do.

You need to use the Pitch Glide effect instead of the Smart Harmony to do this.

I don't think that's going to happen. There would need to be recording of every tone, and that simply doesn't exist. Also, a sample recorded with a guitar other than your own is going to be pretty meaningless.

Are you sure you're using the latest version of the app? I haven't had any issues with crashing in a long time. It was only this particular update mentioned early on that seemed to be corrupted. Line 6 resolved it rather quickly.

There's not really any way to do it, at least on a PC. On a Mac, you might be able to. When you use the HD500X's audio over USB, it becomes your computer's soundcard, so that means that input and output are taken care of on the same device. You need to either use headphones connected to the 500X or get some monitors you can connect to the 500X's outputs.

What do you have the input for Path B set to, and do you have Path B muted in the mixer block? It sounds to me that perhaps you have the input for Path B set to same, and could possibly still be sending a signal through path B. That might be why you have the weird sound when you put an effect after the effects loop. You might be getting phase cancellation from the two signals not matching up with one another. That's the one thing that comes to mind.

Have you tried changing the input Z parameter at all? That changes the actual impedance of the guitar input, so that may make a difference in how your guitar reacts.

That's why your guitar has tuners! :D Or in my case, that's why I have a Variax. Seriously, though, the HD500(X) doesn't do polyphonic pitch shifting, and I doubt that such functionality will be added.

Not that is matters at this point, but I've never seen this claim anywhere. I don't think they do any sort of inspection in CA. It's probably not technically feasible for them to do that. I imagine all QA is done at the Korean plants. Personally, my only experience with the Korean JTVs has been with the ones I've seen at GC, and other than some early ones I saw with sharps frets edges, they've seemed to be OK. I have the US version of the 69, and I've never had any issues. It's been my main guitar for a few years now.

Well, the PC command that's associated with the patch you're bringing up will be sent automatically when you select that preset. There's no way to change the mapping of that, though. Also, the 500X will send out CC commands whenever you turn effects on and off within a preset, and that may lead to some unwanted behavior in the device you have connected.

There's no such setting as far the amp parameters go. You can only edit them on a patch per patch basic.
