You need to go File>Restore from Backup. There’s no need to use the Import function.
-
Can you explain what you mean by that? Why do they need separate input level controls?

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. You say you updated HX Edit to 3.0 but you don’t see the HX Edit on the update site? On the Downloads link at the top of the site here, just leave the first menu blank and set the second pulldown to “HX Edit”. The latest version will show up on top of the list.

Do you have the midimittr app installed on your iPad?

There’s no reason to not buy the promotional version. I don’t even know why Sweetwater is offering the non-promotional one at the same time.

It’s a very DSP intensive effect. Like the other polyphonic effects, it uses about half the available DSP of one processor path.

Your presets make it through the update fine. The reason the instructions tell you to do the restore from backup is just to make sure global settings are back in order. If you want to, you can deselect everything else but the Global Settings category when doing the Restore from Backup.

Well, there’s a few things that I know about that I’m excited for...

I actually like the idea, but I don’t know how much of a chance I think it has of being implemented. The concept of layers like this isn’t new, really. Yamaha digital mixers have control layers. I just think once you go down this road, calling them snapshots starts to make less sense. To me, the concept of a snapshot is your saving all parts of preset as something that can be immediately recalled. Yes, we have the option of excluding blocks at the moment, and that in a sense is a departure from the concept. Really, there’s no reason you couldn’t have more than two layers if you got down to it. It just makes it harder to get the concept across to people who aren’t familiar with it.

Poly Sustain is under the Delay menu. It’s mono only.

You can turn the input pad on under Global Settings>Ins/Outs. What type of guitar/pickups are you using when you’re experiencing the clipping?
-
You most like won’t need to buy anything new, but you probably would want to... Needs generally have little to do with it.
-
I always forget that you can assign a command to it in the Command Center, but even then, the LED doesn’t light up, and you can’t change the scribble strip label. What are you trying to do?
-
You say you don’t want to use snapshots, but snapshots are the way to do this. Remember that as of the 2.90 update, you can assign snapshots to stomp switches in the Command Center. So even though you’re using the 4 Stomp/4 Snap view, you can still assign any of the snapshots 5-8 to your Stomp switches.

You haven’t updated HX Edit. The number at the bottom of the screen refers to the firmware version on the hardware, not the software version.

There is no LED under FS 6.

You need an internet connection to authorize Helix Native (and to run the trial). Once you authorize, you don't need an internet connection. But if you no internet connection at all, that will be a problem.

This came up during the beta. According to Igor (the main DSP developer) this is how the actual pedal behaves.
-
It sounds like it could be a corrupted preset. If you power up while holding FS11 & FS12 down, that will clear the current preset. If that doesn't work, you can do a factory reset by holding down FS9 & FS10 while powering up and then do a Restore from Backup.
-
Yes, I suggest searching before asking a question... :-)

I think like pretty much all of these types of effects, what you get out of it is highly dependent on your playing style. To me it sounds best with arpeggiated picking or lighter strumming. If you try to use it with aggressive strumming the effect sort of gets lost.
-
They all can do that, actually, but the dual processor models - the Floor, Rack and LT - will give you a lot more flexibility as far as what you can do.

I’m not totally understand what you’re saying the issue is. Line 6 changed the factory presets this go around, so DSP usage is going to be a little different. As far as things sounding different, you should do a Restore from Backup after updating to get your global settings back to the way they were before updating. Several of those can affect gain staging. Also, make sure you’re replacing kind for kind when doing your comparisons here. Was the original flanger block stereo?
