  1. Hi, From the download page for Helix Native: “Compatible OS: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10” I know some people have reported using Windows 11 without issue, but being an early adopter is likely to make you prone to this sort of thing. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Hi, It’s a big help for us to know what computer, operating system and DAW you are using. The only report of this error code 8103, that I could find, was someone mentioned having encountered this way back while using HX Edit v.2.71. The solution was to download and perform a re-install of the software. Have you tried opening the same files using HX Edit? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Really? It’s only software that needs to be updated - the hardware performs just the same. There are probably lots of things that you have bought that have been in a warehouse for quite a while. Your warranty is not affected.
  4. I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go - yet again. You don’t mention what computer and OS you’re using but I’m going to guess Windows. Also, because of the “Boot Failure” message, I would expect that you are updating a firmware prior to v.2.8 when the main Core changed. The install may look as if it is happening twice - this is when the core swaps and fully documented in the 2.8 release notes. You could try restarting your Helix while holding down foot switches 10 & 11 which will rebuild your presets to the latest format. If this doesn’t help in this situation follow these next instructions to the letter. Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HELIX then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Mac or Windows OS from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, the click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.11 for your HELIX. Then you will also need the Firmware 3.11.0 Flash Memory. On this page you will find the Line 6 Updater version 1.23 - you will need this too. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Then: Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Now run the HX Edit installer, this should now install the latest drivers for your system. Quit the installer and restart your computer once more. Make sure to turn off the power to your HELIX. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HELIX. Disconnect your computer from the internet and ensure that no other audio functions, or background applications are running. In fact do not have anything running that may interfere with the install process - do not allow your PC to enter sleep mode. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you have your HELIX reconnected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down “FS6 & FS12” while turning the power on. This will put your HELIX into Safe Boot Mode ready to reflash the firmware - You may see a black screen on your hardware, but keep going. Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HELIX and the current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it concludes you need to perform a Factory Reset. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.11 software and you should be good to go. Here’s a list of reset options for the unit. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense
  5. Ensure you make a backup of your stuff before performing a factory reset. THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL USER PRESETS AND SETLISTS!
  6. Hi, Not sure if this helps, but… https://beatbars.com/en/trs-extension-reversed.html
  7. Nice work there HO. I guess someone has to be a test pilot for this stuff. I had envisaged this Windows 11 becoming the same sort of issue that Big Sur was for Mac users. I’m a Mac Jockey who became wary of Apple’s continued push to upgrade every year, but I have also seen lots of bad reviews of Windows 11. I think most of the gripes are coming from folks (gamers) using one particular chip that’s is suffering somewhere in the region of 15 to 20% drop in processing speeds. Thanks for being up for it, sir, well done. Five stars!
  8. Hi Ben, That seems very odd, but the first thing to check is to see if you can swap loop2, that you currently have on FS5, to FS4. If that works, you can now check if loop1 functions as it should. If not then clear everything from that foot switch and re-apply the loop. Also have you tried to recreate the preset in a new slot? See if you can get the foot switches to work just on their own in an empty slot. It’s a process of elimination. Hope this helps/makes sense .
  9. Hi, First thing to check is that both In and Out on your Helix are set to “Multi”. Further information on USB Audio connection and working with a DAW can be found in the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English - Page 68. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hmm… I was expecting that you might have found that the issue was a bad connection on the XLR. That’s usually the source of speakers “popping”. Don’t know what else to suggest now. File under “mystery”.
  11. Hi, When you go to the software download page for HX Edit, then to the drop down menu under “All OS”, you will see that there is no mention of Windows 11. Likewise on the specific HX Edit download page for v.3.11 it states: Compatible OS: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 Oops! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Earlier in this thread there is a comment that this is a known “bug”. I would appear that this is still not fixed, therefore I will re-state what was posted by “soundog” - “I suggest you open up a ticket with Line 6 and give them the specifics:” The more people contact Customer Service, the sooner it will be resolved. Hope this helps makes sense.
  13. Hi, There is a “pinned post”, three down from the top of this forum landing page - it is entitled: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, In the lower left hand corner of this screen is a white question mark inside a black dot. Click on it and it reveals various help routines, one of which is this. It can be found under the heading “Common Product FAQ” > “Hardware Reset Procedures”. HX Stomp: Turn unit off and then turn back on. Hold Footswitches 2 and 3 as the unit boots up. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, Yes, that would probably be the best place - that way your backing track will not be affected or distorted by the amp section. Your HX Stomp is essentially working like a mixer then, simply blend in the backing audio. Possibly the only thing that could be added after the looper is a reverb, which would be used to place all the sounds into the same "sonic space", but if it's a fully produced backing track it is most likely unnecessary. Have fun experimenting.
  16. Hi, Let's see if we can clarify a few points here. I have a Boss RC-30 Dual Looper (among others) that I can use with my Helix Floor, and as your HX Stomp is the little brother things should be very similar other than you will only have half the DSP that I have available. Therefore, you simply need to patch your RC-3 into the send and return sockets on the Stomp. You really should consider that stereo is the best way to take full advantage of both the units in conjunction with your headphones, although if this restricts your use, for example by running out fo DSP power, then use mono - there are no rules when it come to this stuff - use what works for you in any given situation. As for positioning the RC-3 in the signal chain, once again it's where ever you would like it, but bear in mind the the best place is probably at the end after all the other effects. That means that should you have the looper playing back a drum loop, you probably don't want that running onto a delay block - or maybe you do. As noted there are no rules - experiment. Any effects that you want to send into the Looper place them before the FX Loop block. Regarding streaming music to the Stomp, I guess you mean playing a backing track, or generally jamming along to, via USB from your computer? That's perfectly normal as any audio playing back into the Stomp on USB 1 & 2 bypasses all the internal processing and effects. The best thing to do is play around with the Stomp to see what works best for you. You aren't going to blow it up or electrocute yourself. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Here's a video of a guy patching in a Jam Man Looper to a HX Stomp.
  17. Hi, IIRC, these are 25 feet long Variax VDI cables. https://www.amazon.com/Line-Variax-Digital-Interface-Cable/dp/B000JLMXSC/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=line+6+vdi+cable&qid=1634829776&qsid=142-3679790-3122147&sr=8-1&sres=B000JLMXSC%2CB000JRECI0%2CB00864E760%2CB072L343B7%2CB01MZ81SB3%2CB08WRQH82Z%2CB00YOSA85Q%2CB00PML35RC%2CB07QM5GKDD%2CB07JYXYSSL%2CB01KRLYPNE%2CB075FRMSDG%2CB07QLXC6QR%2CB015OW3M1W%2CB0001Y8UC0%2CB0824H8F8J&srpt=ELECTRONIC_CABLE Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Well he has said how he does it - why not give it a try for yourself?
  19. Hi, When strange things start to happen the first thing to try is a factory reset. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. You said that you have only had the Helix LT for 3 days, and it’s not very clear if you have tried to update the firmware and it hasn’t completed successfully. If you were trying to update from a version of the firmware prior to v.2.80 you should know that there was a major change to the Core operating system in the Helix family of products at that time. During the Core change over it could look as if the hardware had encountered a “Boot Failure”. O.K. Try this. First restart your Helix LT while holding down FS9 & 10, then restart once more while holding down FS10 & 11, to see if that clears the fault. If this doesn’t solve the problem I suggest that you restart the LT while holding down FS6 & 12 to put the hardware into “Safe Boot” mode and try to re-install the latest firmware again. Note: it is a big help for us to know what computer and OS you are using when you are asking for assistance. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Thousands of very happy Helix users out there and firmware updates always seem to be the biggest area of problems. It is a lot easier now than the first updates, but there is always room for human error and misunderstanding of the process. Even though this sort of stuff can be a little disconcerting, very rarely would an update issue turn your hardware into a very expensive boat anchor. There are many debates on here regarding commercial presets and generally you are better rolling your own. That way you can get a better idea of how all this stuff reacts. You can see demo videos if this stuff on YouTube, and you will never sound quite like them - many factor are involved, even using the same guitar, pickups, strings, etc. It will be different. Luckily some, such as Fremen’s are a reasonable starting point to work off. Good luck with the recording.
  21. Not that stupid then - got there in the end! Glad you got it fixed. Enjoy your new toy - it’s quite a leap from v.2.71
  22. From the Mission Engineering page The Mission SP1-L6H connects to the Line 6 Helix Rack or Rack controller with a single TS cable for expression, and a single TS cable for the toe switch. For use with the HX Stomp, a TRS cable is required. The toe switch function is only supported on the Helix Rack, Rack controller, and HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL. Other Line 6 devices do not have a toe switch input. The switch output may be left unconnected if this function is not required. The Mission EP1-L6 is recommended for other Line 6 products where a toe switch input is not available.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. A nice movie might help - here’s Uncle Chad from the Facebook Helix Family group doing a walk through for the bewildered. https://www.facebook.com/groups/line6helixusergroup/?multi_permalinks=1918718714978459 34,000 users - must be a good sign. I think it was originally a POD Cast and can be a little long winded, but stick with it and you should have it mastered. Start from 1:30 to avoid the tedious intro. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Ah ha, a Mac and Big Slur. You may be inadvertently opening an alias back to and earlier version of HX Edit. Solution - Delete all, the Line 6 software that you have already downloaded and restart the MBP. If downloading using Firefox it may be malfunctioning and keeping the old downloads and confusing the hell out of everything. Download the whole thing to your downloads folder and unpack the installer - don’t let Firefox do it. Now simply re download and perform a clean install of HX Edit 3.11 and let it do it’s stuff.
