  1. Hi, If you are going to use the M-Audio EX-P with your unit (I have 2 on my Helix floor and one on my controller keyboard), a couple of things to note are: Turn the small grey knob on the left hand side fully anti-clockwise. Flip the switch on underside of the pedal to “OTHER” In the Global Setting ensure the polarity option is set to “Inverted”. Have fun.
  2. I have HX Edit rigged to connect to my Line 6 account when I open it. Today it told me the update was available (I don’t use HX Edit on a daily basis), the download failed at about 90%. First time that has ever happened, although I blame myself for this, as I clicked onto another active open window, and that may have caused the failure. I usually try not to do anything that might mess up downloads. However, I didn’t try to do it again, and I simply went straight to the download page and grabbed it without problems. I had to go to downloads to get Helix Native anyhow. I was wondering if you had a chance to take a look at the new version to see if the problem of extracting individual presets from backup files is fixed? I should have checked before I locked up the studio for the day. Doh!
  3. Who reads a manual in 2021? Oh, we have already covered that elsewhere. ;-)
  4. Well, in case you hadn’t noticed, and as most people don’t seem to bother visiting the dedicated HX Native section - Helix Native v.3.11 was released on June 1st, with very little fanfare in these forums. It has been noted that it fixes the Big Sur issues of “sluggishness” etc. The two bullet points state: Improved stability and performance on macOS Big Sur. Other minor improvements and bug fixes. Also, a new updated HX Edit v3.11 is available. Improved stability and performance on macOS Big Sur. HX Stomp/HX Stomp XL: Renamed snapshots would not appear in HX Edit's command center window. HX Stomp's Input block could show as "None" on rare occasions after restoring from a backup. Other minor improvements and bug fixes. Hope this helps/makes sense for all those who were troubled by the previous version. Go get it.

  6. Hi, Here we go again - this comes up quite a bit, or variations of it.. Check this link to see if it helps - or maybe buy a cheapo M-Audio EX-P that does the job just fine. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, O.K. Things have gone slightly mad, BUT you are not really giving much information to work with here. You simply say that you “messed up expression settings on HX” BUT what HX unit? There are half a dozen variants. What expression pedal? On board or external, if external, what make/model? Following the manual? What did it say in the manual that could screw up something as simple a setting a volume pedal block? Mmm... “cycling through presets non stop - whether expression pedal connected or not!”. That’s insane! When weird sh!t happens - perform a factory reset. I would tell you how to do that, BUT you haven’t said what unit you’re having trouble with? Hope this helps/make sense. Oh, yeah - have you tried turning it off, and on again?
  8. Yep, you count me in on that one - I have no idea what they really mean. Maybe i've spent too much time being a studio rat (yes, right back there with reel to reel tapes), and because almost everything now is digital - that's become "normal" - whatever the hell that is? Maybe" digital" means it's all too clean? I don't know - but when you consider the hours people have spent trying to record a clean signal. We're in a different realm now, not like when you had to do a mix to a cassette tape so the band could listen to it in the car - terrible idea, but... Then when doing a mix and writing directly to CD arrived, people complained that it was all too pristine and clinical. Whatever happened to that "tape eater" effect that Line 6 had in the old stuff. If they put that into Helix - well, who knows...
  9. Hi, Have you tried adding a Retro Reel block at the end of the signal chain? It should put you into the realm of analogue tape saturation. Oddly, it is actually a digital emulation of a reel to reel tape machine. Check out Jason's video for dialling in the Retro Reel. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, You might want to look at this. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, That is the way to do the firmware install when using the Line 6 Updater, rather than HX Edit. To Re-flash the Helix Rack. O.K. go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select Helix Rack, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as is, now select your PC/ Mac Operating System from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, then click the “GO” button. From the next page you can select the Firmware 3.11.0 Flash Memory for your Helix Rack, then below that you will need the HX Edit 3.1. Now scroll further down the page a get the Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these bits to your PC/Mac. First, install HX Edit 3.10 (including the required drivers) and if you have made any presets that you wish to keep then they need to be backed up using HX Edit before updating the Firmware. If everything is fine then proceed to next step. Next - disconnect the USB cable from your Rack and the computer. Boot the Rack using ENC 1 & 6 to enter update mode. Now reconnect the USB, do not use a hub - some front ports on a PC can act as a hub so use one on the rear. Ensure that no other apps are running in the background - also, it may be advisable to disconnect from the internet. Now launch the Updater and select “Offline Mode”. Your Helix Rack and current firmware version should show in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select the local file - point it at the Flash Memory file that you down loaded previously and let it get on with the update. When the update completes, the Rack should reboot and start to rebuild the presets, it may take a few minutes. If it doesn’t do this you can perform the reboot to rebuild the presets by holding ENC 1 & 3 while turning on the power to the Rack. When weird stuff starts to happen, reflashing the unit should help, if not raise a ticket with support because anything else is probably beyond the scope of any assistance that can be given here. Hope this helps/makes sense EDIT: PLEASE STOP CROSS POSTING THE SAME ISSUE - IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE ACROSS MULTIPLE THREADS!
  12. Hi, HX Effects Reset Options HX Effects Button Combination Description Holding FS3 & MODE Will clear all Presets and IRs Holding FS4 & FS5 Reset Global Settings Holding FS5 & FS6 Reset Presets only Holding FS6 & TAP Factory restore (reset, Globals, IRs, and Presets) Holding the right arrow ">" Will put the unit in a fail safe update mode. Use this when the HX Effects is in an un-recoverable state Don't Panic - It is very rare that a glitch in the firmware will actually turn your device into an paperweight. You mentioned that you were updating your HX Effects to the latest v3.11.0 firmware, but didn't say what version was already installed. The reason I mention this is because, IIRC, with firmware earlier than 2.8, when the main system core was modified, it can cause the unit to appear to have suffered "Boot Failure". It seems to me this usually happens when trying to update from firmware versions prior to the core change and also an error message appears on screen. You didn't say if this happened with your installation. Also all updates should be run from within HX Edit, but in this case we need to by bypass that because your HX FX isn't showing on the USB. - NOTE some front mounted USB Ports on PC's can act as a hub. O.K. Let's try this and see if we can "kickstart" your hardware into update mode. Remove all Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Make sure to turn off the power to your HX FX. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HX FX. Hold down the right arrow key ">" and the turn power on and when Helix logo appears, quickly release both foot switches. Leave it powered up. Download the and install latest HX Edit v. 3.01 (with all the drivers) ENSURE THAT HX EDIT IS CLOSED BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE NEXT STEP. Reconnect the USB cable to HX FX and computer - DO NOT USE A HUB. Find and launch the Line 6 Updater and re-install the v.3.11.0 firmware file Hope this helps/makes sense. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn't work, raise a ticket with Customer Support.
  13. Hi, Check this thread from a while back, to see if there are any clues, which may help you fix this.
  14. No, I cannot say that I have ever had that happen. As I mentioned in the earlier post, I have never had any issues with all 3 of my pedals. Have you checked for a faulty connection?
  15. I have 3 M-Audio EX-P pedals, one on my Arturia KeyLab61 controller keyboard and 2 connected to the Helix Floor on EXP2 and EXP3. Never had an issue with any of them. Just make sure the small grey knob on the left hand side is fully rotated anti-clockwise, and the switch underneath is set to "OTHER", then set the Globals for both my external pedals to inverted polarity otherwise they sweep from 100% at the heel and 0% at the toe.
  16. AFAIK, according to posts that I have seen on this and other forums, the update for HX Native is being worked on. See the post from “phil_m” above, he is probably in the best position to know. That’s all I have on this.
  17. Hi, You might want to check this thread and follow the links - save me from typing it all out again. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  19. That would do it. Anything before the looper goes into it, that's why I leave delay and reverb until after the return. Have fun!
  20. If you go back and check what “silverhead” actually stated, which appeared in brackets as an after thought to actually supplying a solution. (btw..... consulting the manuals is always good practice when wondering about something.) That looks like perfectly valid advice to me - certainly not aggressive, rude, or RTFM, as you have suggested. Frankly, I fail to comprehend why you have decided to take offence at a post from February 2019 and in your first two posts you have managed to contribute absolutely nothing but annoyance. How to make friends and influence people? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, From the menu at the top of this page select "DOWNLOADS". Then on the next page click on "All Software" and from the drop down menu select "Helix Native". Click the menu item ""All OS" and from the drop down select the correct Operating System for your computer - next click the button marked 'Go". On the next page you will be presented with the info for the latest version of Helix Native which explains some of the new features. Scroll down the page until you see the blue button marked "GET DOWNLOAD", Click the button and you will be taken to the next page which is the EULA where you simply click the "ACCEPT AND DOWNLOAD" button. The software will download to your computer where you can proceed to install it just like any other plug in. Just follow the on screen instructions. Hope this helps/makes sense.

    Big Sur

That is a perfectly valid thing for Line 6 to claim - it is Mac compatible - all my stuff works just fine on a 2016 iMac 27” 5k Retina with High Sierra. Although, there are quite a few posts on here that state everything functions on Big Sur and I have seen comments that people have Native running on the M1 Mac Mini with little or no problems. Many report that running with Rosetta is the way to go for the time being. Furthermore, Line 6 are currently working on this stuff.
  23. Maybe I started to flap? Plus it would only have upset him more if I had said that many people, such as you and me, have been using HX Native for years - without issue.
  24. Well, thanks for that, but the thing is, this is a user forum - nobody from Line 6 monitors the posts on here. As you seem to have discovered a genuine bug in the software, maybe you could raise a ticket with Customer Support to make them aware. It is likely to be fixed a lot sooner if you let them know. FYI - I am not being a d*ck, simply trying to help - so before you judge me, better make sure that you’re perfect. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Where did you see “packaging” emblazoned with that? All the software that you are complaining about is downloadable - it doesn’t ship in a box AFAIK! Get a grip on reality.
