  1. There was no version 2.01.0 Helix firmware. Please confirm the firmware version installed on your Helix. Based on the installed firmware version you will need to download and install the compatible version of the Helix editor/app software in order to back up your current presets/setlists. For instance, if your firmware version is v2.10 you should install Helix editor version 2.10. Then, as you say, you can follow the instructions to install v2.21
  2. With Helix you will be able to recreate your sound, but you will also be able to improve on it. If all you want to do with an upgrade is reproduce the sound that you are already completely satisfied with..... why upgrade? Iyou can't transfer the Pod Farm tone files directly to Helix, but after a little time you will be getting far superior sounds from Helix. Yes, Helix Native is to Helix like Pod Farm is to the POD XT/X3 series of devices. It provides the Helix DSP engine on a computer, allowing for direct transfer of your studio tones to your live gig, ad vice-versa.
  3. Your Pod Farm Platinum would continue to work with any replacement Pod Studio device. If you need to replace the Studio GX you could purchase a new Studio GX (or UX1, UX2) and your PF Platinum license would still be valid as long as any Pod Studio device is connected to your computer. It will not be locked.
  4. I think the guide should be called 'FX for Dummies'. It applies to anyone who plays guitar, whether using analog or digital FX, live or in the studio. Your average analog pedal board player needs the same understanding as a Helix user, and vice-versa. I'm sure such guides exist, whether separately or as a conglomeration of websites. Google? EDIT: Google the term 'Guitar FX for Dummies'. Have fun reading!

Should access to the tuner be password protected? ðŸ¿
  6. You need the POD HD500X Edit program. Once you have the HD500X device and run Line 6 Monkey it will help you download and install the editor. However, you can download it now from the Downloads section of this website. Select POD HD500X Edit in the middle (software) field. You can even run it offline, before you get your HD500X device, to get a feel for its operations. You can find the editor manual online as well.
  7. Yes, and that's exactly what they do in the banks in which they highlight Variax settings in the presets. I think you'll find that many of those presets include alternate tunings as well as simply the Variax model assignment. So they focus the 'sales pitch' in certain banks of presets. But for general inclusion in all factory presets - no. Just not worth the effort imho.
  8. I expect the banks named Variax will include the model assignment in the presets. Note, too, that only a small percentage of Firehawk owners also own a Variax. While including a Variax model assignment in factory presets doesn't do any harm to non Variax owners, nor does it add any value. Extra effort for very little return. Accordingly it's not generally done.
  9. Further to hurghanico's comments, Pod Farm has nothing to do with the Pod HD. If you just downloaded the software without purchasing a license you will find that it does not work. If you did purchase a license and now realize it wasn't what you thought you can obtain a refund. Contact Line 6. If you purchased a license because you plan to use Pod Farm independently then that's different and you should be happy with it.
  10. Generally the presets do not specify a Variax model. You should expect to have to do it yourself, preset by preset, based on your personal preferences. Sometimes a preset will include a specified Variax model but you will likely find this to be the exception rather than the rule. This applies to both factory presets and the cloud presets.
  11. Of course, what you experienced shouldn't happen. It's fortunate that you have the skill and knowledge to fix things yourself. I think you should open a support ticket and point them to this thread. Not because it will necessarily help you but it may help Line 6 identify and correct some production issues so that future purchasers may not have to experience what you did. And who knows - you may even get an extended warranty out of it in case something else goes wrong.
  12. Another consideration is the editor platform. The HD500X editor runs on a PC/Mac and requires a USB connection; there is no mobile device option. The Firehawk FX editor runs on an iOS/Android mobile device and uses Bluetooth; there is no computer based editor. I've seen many users express their disappointment about this after purchasing either the HD500X or the Firehawk. They realize too late that the editor platform they chose is not the one they wanted.
  13. The feature does have merit, just not in the context of a firmware update. For general purposes it's the fastest way of doing a full backup of all setlists. Just don't update the firmware before restoring the bundle.
  14. No - Helix LT and regular Helix presets are fully compatible. There must be some other reason. What is the filetype of the file you downloaded? If it's not *.hlx rename it.
  15. Have you checked your Global Settings -> Ins/Outs? Experiment with the Output settings and see if changing from the default settings helps.
  16. The UX1 does not provide phantom power so you need to use a dynamic mic, not a condenser mic. Check your mic specs. Also, make sure that you have selected the Mic as the input in Pod Farm (see Mixer page).
  17. The update process involves a global parameters reset. This can affect the sound. Review your global settings, especially your output settings, and restore to your preference if necessary. Also it is quite common for Line 6 to modify the factory presets - adding some, removing some, and adjusting existing ones. This usually results in improvements to existing presets. But it's possible that changes to some presets are simply not to your liking. Perhaps there's nothing to resolve other than tweaking those presets to try to get the previous sound that you liked better, or reloading the old presets if you have saved them.
  18. It kind of depends on what you mean by 'stay at the same level'. If you mean the same numeric volume and gain settings you're still not going to get the same overall volume levels because of the differences in the physical amps. A Hi-Gain amp and a Clean amp, at the same numeric level settings for vol and gain/drive, will almost certainly deliver very different output volumes. Similarly, if you mean the same level in terms of the overall output volume that can be achieved in different ways since the Gain/Drive and Vol settings interact heavily. You can get the same overall output level with a relatively clean tone using a low drive and high vol setting, or a dirtier tone with a higher drive and lower vol setting. Line 6 can't know your preference in this regard, and certainly can't meet everyone's preference. The reality is that if you had a roomful of the physical amps and tried to compare them, each time you plugged in to a different amp you would have to adjust its individual settings, using your own preferences and perceptions of overall level of clean vs. dirty tones. And once you had done that for a certain overall level setting (say relatively quiet in a small room) you would have to do everything all over again if you wanted to compare them at a much louder level in a bigger space.
  19. You can set the level to your preference in Global Settings -> Ins/Outs. Experiment. Here's what the manual says: Choose "Instrument" when using a Send/Return pair as an FX loop for stompboxes; choose "Line" when using a Send/Return pair as an FX loop for line-level rack processors, or as additional inputs and outputs for connecting keyboards, drum machines, mixers, and other gear.
  20. You should be able to download it. What happens when you select Workbench (not Workbench HD) in the middle (software) field on the Downloads page?
  21. The AMPLIFi app for mobile devices is available in the App Store for iOS devices. Search under Line 6. Not sure about the android compatible app, but same principle -get it wherever you usually find android apps.
  22. Go to the Downloads section of this website (see top of this page). Select Helix in the leftmost (products) field. The next page will display the latest firmware v2.21. Use the Get Download button at the bottom of that panel to download the firmware file. Note that you will also need to use the latest versions of the Line 6 Updater program (v1.11), the driver (v1.86), and the Helix Edit program (also v 2.21). Follow the installation instructions carefully.
  23. Yes. The Firehawk as an audio interface has 2 channels via usb . You can record the stereo output from Firehawk directly into your recording program.
  24. Did you do the global reset after the firmware update, as per the instructions? That should delete all previously installed presets and install the new factory presets.
  25. I presume you mean v2.21 of both firmware and editor, not v2.12? Yes, it would be good to always have the firmware and editor releases synchronized in terms of release numbers. I suspect that the lag this time was due to a driver update required to fix a bug with the editor and Workbench HD running simultaneously. Since the driver is packaged with the editor, they didn't want to release the v2.20 editor package until the driver was available. Nor did they want to delay the release of the firmware until the driver (required only for Variax owners) was updated. So the v2.20 firmware was released when it was ready and the v2.20 editor release was delayed. But that's only my speculation, based on the driver v1.86 release notes.
