You "can" run it in studio direct with a cab. But you still will have to Eq the tones to match the cab and a closed back cab should have some thump to it. :)

The 80s are a decent speaker my man loaded with some good midrange. I like GT12s but that is besides the point. You have to dial in the HD for the system you have for stage. If you dial in a patch with a FRFR speaker it probably will sound like mush through a guitar cab.

Hey Skipper D! - it was Russian, the castaways even hatched a plan to switch one of the vodka bottles with water so the cosmonauts would pass out, (but they wouldn't) so they could stow away in the capsule, when the sub arrived. I am not going to ruin the ending for you! :D -B

Yes, if one displays talent for longer than 4 hours please consult a professional. :)

Been flying solo for a few years now myself. The only time you will feel lonely is solo time if you are used to a rhythm guitar behind you. If the bass is on you can hear how the tonality will change depending on where you guys are at (root note vs scale choice). The only thing I consistently do is pop some delay at 220 ms and gently mix it in. You want it in there but not "out" there. It is a great way to find out about the rhythm section too. If ole pickle fingers is really in sync with ham fists. :P A tambourine, a shaker - any rhythmic noise make you can get the singer to jangle helps.

It still had the classic logo D! The power was being taken off that alien space ship hidden in the swamp. Ironic as it seems, I watched Gilligan powering up a Russian space capsule via his trusty exercise bike generator yesterday. Der ver only three men and a Gilligan!

Now that is vintage (word has it that they found an old Peavey amp in the back too - just a rumor).

Would the Boss LS-2 be of any help in this?

Midi is only for control or patch editing. You need to pick up an audio interface where you can plug one of the Pods outputs into. Then the interface's usb will make the connection for you to have audio in. Or you can try and get a 1/4" to 1/8" cable to plug into the sound card's line in (but the interface is better and more useful IMO). -B

If you really think that is the case, you could take it apart, give the switch a shot with DeOxit it (contact cleaner) work it a bit, give it another shot, then reassemble and see if it works. The PS is the DC3g btw.

Things look grim, aside from trying a different power supply and/or repeating the above with nothing plugged in (aside from the usb cable) it might be time to submit a Support Ticket.

I am not a Hard Gate Master \m/ but in general (off the top of my bean): Think of it sort of like a garden gate and the people (good and bad noise) want to come in your garden (for that kickass yard sale of gear). Thresholds: what will trip the gate to close/what will make it open Hold Time: How long do you want the gate to pause before closing Decay: How fast do you want the gate to close Its tough to chuck out #s as it can be different depending on your goal/gear. Thresh open: you want the gate to open when you are playing and this is the one. Play softly and adjust until you get that point where it isn't choked off. Thresh close: This will be where you set your "I can't take this background noise" anymore level. Tight, fast - metal - decay 0 ms. With a Strat you probably are not doing that so a gradual decay would be better .5 - 1 ms - the longer time allows for a bit of breathing in there instead of slamming the gate shut. Explains your "chop, chop, chop" :) Keep open > close, and the longer the decay the less abrupt the sustaining notes will sound, hold is a big (eh?) at times and I get that puppy mixed with the decay times (longer hold vs shorter decay or visa versa). Just starting the gate out you do need some noise going through so try: open ~ 60 and close ~ 40 & decay = 1 ms, Then like you thought: Open, Close, then Hold or Decay. Hope that helps. :D

Pod XT Live with Duoverb
BillBee replied to chadbpalmer's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
The XTLs do send program change values out via midi so you might have to break out the manual for both. The Duoverb has the midi ref in the manual section 5-1. Only drawback of an XTL vs say Art X-15 or FCB1101 would be programming specific CCs as the midi values are not configurable AFAIK on the XTL. But there is no reason it can't bark its present values at the head. :) -
The X3L can forward midi changes but the question is "does your Spider IV have midi in port"? I haven't seen one that did but there are quite a few Spider Models I haven't seen. :) The FBV is the way to go for the Spiders btw.

I've used the first link quite a few times for jam tracks in the past (I dump the tracks to a looper) and 2nd the recommendation. Thanks for the heads up on the other link B.

Call me crazy but shouldn't your nephew at least try the HD first? If he hasn't created one tone yet or has settled on an amplification method its putting the "cart before the horse". I've been running IRs through a GSP1101 and yep some sound great but some sound like lollipop. IRs can expand the tonal possibilities but if you can't create a decent tone to start with they are not going to magically fix things. IMO of course. ;)
