HD500X for a JTV/Standard/Shuriken with v2.00 or higher. XT Live, X3 Live for anything earlier than that. POD Beans won't connect to Variax at all using the VDI cable.
-
It's a 500 electric, the pick-guard is the giveaway.
-
Best way, better data flow, less chance of interruption. Newer floor effects are not backwards compatible with earlier Variax and Workbench. A JTV with firmware v2.00 or higher should connect to Monkey and Workbench HD thru floor effects units. Though more direct thru an interface goes more smoothly. Unplug any USB hubs when doing this. Check the OS compatibility on the Downloads page on the Forum.

Need an interface. Going direct with an Interface device is best.
-
Interface is the best way. More direct. And don't have any USB hubs plugged in when doing updates thru Monkey or using Workbench HD.

connecting UX2 to Otari MX5050 B-3

Single channel balanced, pin-3 is the ground/return according to AES/EBU standard AES-14, which is what we use at Line 6. -

-Yes, keep the DCR (DC/Bulk resistance) between 6k and 8k Ohms. -Yes, AlNiCo, I forget which curve. -String-to-pole spec for stock magnetic pick-ups,... finger the highest fret, Lo-E= 3mm from bottom of string, Hi-E= 2mm. If there's any warbling with the new pick-ups while in Models mode, then adjust as needed to remove warbling sounds. Stick to the wiring diagrams, nothing fancy, this is an active circuit guitar, and unforgiving of certain mods. be aware. Altering the functionality of the guitar can void any warranties, so be care how far you go.

High pitch sounds/echo/chime when playing chords.

High pitch sounds/echo/chime when playing chords.
psarkissian replied to JaPPa's topic in Variax Standard
Sounds like it's mechanical in nature, a secondary vibration, from the string nut or bridge end. Something is fret rubbing somewhere. Should be gone over by a Line 6 authorized service center with the proper service info. Non Line 6 techs won't have the correct set-up info. There can be interactions between piezo and magnetic pick-ups that non Line 6 techs would not know to be aware of. Set-up needs to be done to Line 6 specs. -

Yes,... D'Addario Xl-110, 10-gauge set is factory. Sounds like something with the set-up. Line 6 dealer is okay, Line 6 authorized service tech is better. -

Probably the set-up, fret buzz, string nut slots or pick-up height to the strings,... needs to be checked out by a Line 6 authorized service tech. Did you change string gauges on it? -
Hope it didn't damage the output transformer. Never power up an amp without a proper load on it. It should be checked out by a Line 6 authorized service tech.

I've pulled the grille and bracket on these, but you have to have the right tools and the right experience.
-
It's a plastic label mount on a metal bracket, that mounts on the rim of the grille frame. There are foam strips along the edge for good sealing when the frame is mounted. If those seal get damaged, the grille frame will rattle. Best to leave it alone.
-
So people, please follow the recommendations I provided on this, so we can keep your amps safe and off of my repair bench.
-
Confused regarding Tolex vs Grille cloth. The logo on the Spider Valve series is screw into the grille cloth frame, no Tolex involved.

"... unless it comes with auto-biasing and can take different tube types, you always need to ensure the tube selection meets the performance requirements of the amp. "--- yes, as always. "... that if you know what you're doing, you can select alternate tubes to potentially achieve some changes in the amp's tone. "--- unfortunately, not with these amps. Some of the blown ones that came back, were from competent techs who knew their stuff, and got in over their heads. The digital and analog sections of these amps have to talk nice to each other. These are not forgiving amps of even the slightest of modifications,... including tube swaps. Unless people have a curve tracer, other special gear and know how to re-bias along a different load line,.... then please don't go there. I'm trying to keep everyone's gear off of my repair bench.
-
If recall, it's all part of the grille frame. I'll check further on that.
-
Is the amp a Spider IV MkII, or a Spider Valve MkII??? Also, the "edit" software,... if it's not on the Downloads page on our site, then it may be a 3rd party software like the DT Edit. So you may want to check that as well.
-
Correct, need a MIDI to USB device.
-
Flyers_V88,... with an all analog amp, I would agree. But using other brands, incorrect biasing and not know the hard/medium/soft of the tubes,.... it has resulted in a number of these amps ending on my bench. These are not all analog tube amps, the digital section and analog section have to talk nice to one another, or things go wrong and they end up on my bench. Normally I would agree with you, but in the case of these amps, the correct tube IS the issue in this case. So to everyone,... use the specified tube and bias, and have a Line 6 authorized service center do it. Seen too many blown amps for this reason. So please don't do that. I'm trying to keep everyone's gear off of my repair bench.

Don't do that. Shock hazard is too great. -

Needs to be serviced by a Line 6 authorized service center, not a self repair thing that you can do.- 5 replies
