  1. This is not an amp from the old days, special knowing and skills are required. It gets too involved, expensive and time consuming for self repair. Too may things can go wrong. It will have to be properly evaluated and troubleshooted by a Line 6 authorized service center or Line 6 Repair Dept itself. Those are the two choices for this one.
  2. Helix queries,... I'll move this to the correct topic heading.
  3. " Does anyone know if there is a reason for this? "--- being that you got it 2nd hand, I can't attest to whether or not you have the original springs in there. Spring tension, like the rest of a set-up, is a balance of tensions and geometry. " I don't *think* the narrower spring spacing would affect that but I"m no luthier/phycisist. "--- Oddly enough, since I'm the guy at Line 6 that services these guitars, I'm a bit of both.
  4. Could be the power mange circuit in the battery box on the guitar. Solder point or program glitch could send a "false battery low signal" to the main board, which would keep it from turning on. And don't use any of those cheap 3rd party batteries, use the correct Line 6 versions. Have had a number of problems with other batteries from other sources. Have the JTV-59 checked out at your local Line 6 service center,.... https://line6.com/find/service_center/
  5. Back-ordered,... hmmm,.... read trade journals about how a number of countries are up-ing their RoHS requirements to the third revision level. So I would think Customs Enforcement is creating a bottleneck in the flow. Then there's the Tariff Tiff with China not helping much either. Old African saying,... When two elephants fight, the grass under their feet suffers. Check with Customer Support through the ticketing system through your account. Getting a Return authorization to send it to me with a note in your account to expedite the repair might be an option,... check with Customer Support on that when you log a Support Ticket. And I have my own stash of parts for doing repairs with, so there won't be any waiting time in that regard. Best not to do this yourself, as there can be pitfalls wiring this up. Has to be done correctly or it can create even more problems. These are not the usual passive circuit guitars that everyone is used to.
  6. Wasn't a recall. Probably some customs related stuff extra checks and such, with all the politics between countries right now. Shipping slow down, created a bottleneck in the flow. To a retail store, maybe they thought of it as a recall, since it would have the same affect. Arrival dates,... I'm a service tech, sorry but, arrival dates would be a logistics thing that I'm not privy to.
  7. Jack assembly or 5-Way toggle, or the pot itself. --- It needs to be properly troubleshooted by a Line 6 authorized tech with experience with our product. This is one of those "don't try this at home" situations.
  8. "How can I force the Workbench HD to detect the Variax Standard? "--- You can't, the board needs to be re-programmed. It has the wrong program in it, and it is not a user programmable feature. Log a support ticket.
  9. #1- Keep the pick-ups DC/Bulk Resistance (DCR) between 6k-Ohms and 8k-Ohms. Pick-up companies will have that spec in their data sheets for the pick-up product. #2- Same piezo, but I think they are in ghost saddles, we switch to that for the Standard, if I recall. #3- What cruisinon2 said.
  10. Make certain the volume control retainer nut is snug and tight. Foil on the under-side of the pick-guard acts as a chassis/shield. Another reason would be if there were an intermittent contact or solder point on the jack plate of the guitar or the power wedge. From guitar to the power wedge, be sure it's a cable with TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) plug on it. Could also be a dirty pot,....
  11. HD150 is by definition a head. Check the manual for how to hook-up speakers to it. https://line6.com/support/manuals/spiderivhd150
  12. Assembled in Korea, some components are made in China. The flow to the UK and EU,... not certain what the hold up is there.
  13. " ... left handed Variax under the custom order banner. "--- 1) It would be US built, and if you've seen what those go for, then that would give you an idea. 2) Re-routing wiring and custom cable lengths would complicate things. These are not symmetrical bodies like a Gibson SG, where going right or left would be less complicated. " Isn't it Yamaha that builds the Variax? "--- No, just the Variax Standard (the Pacifica looking one). JTV and Shuriken models are built elsewhere. " ... it would have happened years ago. "--- It did. The Variax 500 Electric had a lefty version. Having done some custom jobs (including lefty conversions for Carlos Rios) as a favour for the top people here, as a favour for artist endorsers like Carlos Rios, a lefty conversion is a whole other kettle of fish. Do'able, but not as easy as you might think. And unfortunately, we don't have a custom shop.
  14. When was the last time the tubes were changed?
  15. Something intermittent in the 5-Way switch. Contact cleaner won't fix it. Will need a service center trip.
  16. It will need to be serviced at a Line 6 authorized service center. Not a self repair thing.
