  1. Before someone else chimes in, I found none on Full Compass. They have other 300 electric parts, but not a main board. Make certain the guitar is registered in your account, then log a support ticket. It should be evaluated by a Line 6 technician or authorized service center to determine if it is the board, or something else internally failing.
  2. Good. There are only a few of us who deal with this. It's not the usual service and repair issue. It has to be serviced in a special way.
  3. Plug into Monkey, does it come up as a Shuriken, SR250 or SR270? Also double check that the serial number on the head stock and the serial number in your Line 6 account are the same. Use the interface device to connect to Monkey. In Workbench HD,... what is the label in the top left corner? Does it come up as a Shuriken, or something else. Flash v2.23 deals with Workbench HD display labeling. ... double check that you have the Shuriken Bundle (aka- Shuriken Model pack). Some of the first Shurikens didn't have that, so the link was for loading the bundle. Some early users preferred the standard JTV models, so it started out that way.
  4. " Is repositioning of the pot/control a simple fix? " ---- No. If what I think has happened, has happened, and the encoder bracket underneath has come loose, it will have to come back to me at Line 6 for servicing. Log a Support ticket with Line 6.
  5. It's still there on the Line 6 Downloads page under Variax Workbench. It comes up for Windows 7 and Mac OS 10, but it apparently doesn't come up for Windows 10. I don't know if or when that will be updated.
  6. PX2 is the one for the XPS and several of our floor effects prior to the HD500 series. Best use the PX2 for the XPS.
  7. Yes. Line 6 products are optimized for that. We can't vouche for another company's specifications. It would be a use at own risk situation.
  8. For original Variax piezos,... https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/114557-line-6-11-11-0001-piezo-pickup-for-variax-300-500-700
  9. " whether there are different sounds available for the 300 / 500 / 700 etc "---- If you mean outside 3rd party sounds, maybe. For JTV/Standard/Shuriken,... yes. For 300/500/600/700, there is Workbench, that allows you to create your own model patches and save them. Check the online manual for that. For the later JTV/Standard/Shuriken, that have Firmware v2.00 or higher, use Workbench HD. String gauge plays a part, only in regards to how well the mechanical energy is translated into electronic impulses for the circuitry. 10 or 11 gauge sets are best. 9's tend to be light and the signals tend to be thin. 12's can be intense and can wear on the piezo element. "I don't know the in's and out's of the system." --- There are online operations manuals here on the support forum.
  10. Changing the magnetic's height to the string can cause warbling, and that can be magnified when models are engaged. And even worse with Alt Tune engaged. And what hurghanico said. Both Tobacco Sunburst?
  11. JTV-69, with a custom neck. Plays really good. Been on my bench a couple times for servicing. nice guitar. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=jennifer+batten That photo of her on the left, slung over her shoulder. Just chatting with a pal of hers last night at a post NAMM dinner. Nice guitar.
  12. 4.8k,... brighter tone, much lower can get tinny. Don't go too much lower than that for current pull reasons.
  13. Log a Support Ticket. Both the 500 and the XT Live will need to be checked out.
  14. Old Workbench and HD products are not compatible. You should used the VDI-to-USB interface accessories device.
  15. Was looking at your serial number,... log a support ticket. There may be something under lying that, it should be checked out so that it won't become a future glitch.
  16. 16k Ohms will be a very dark tone colored EQ. Going higher than 10k Ohm will have a darker tone, 12k gets to be much (ask Richie Castellano about that one). 16k Ohm is way too dark of a tone for most. It's all about impedance matching. Impedance is a function of frequency, it's how filters and EQ works. telengard,... I hope the SD tech is reminded that these are not passive circuit guitars. Can't treat these electronics the same way, or modify them the same way.
  17. Whoever their supplier for parts are probably supply more than one company, then assembled here in the US by Graphtech. Our 89F guitar bridge is assemble for us by them, for specifically for the 89F. I chat about this each year at their trade show booth, with the guy who assembles our 89F bridges. I'm not certain if they supply us the saddles or if we use the same source they do.
  18. Grejam53,... it will need to be serviced at an authorized service center in your area. This is not something that can be solved by a user. The authorized service tech can contact us through the service tech system. Log a Support ticket in your account. Stigney Audio Repair Servicing: Electronics,Guitars 8400 Eastwood Rd. Mounds View, Minnesota, 55112 763-786-3156 rstigney@hotmail.com Good Guys Inc. ,The Servicing: Electronics,Guitars 1111 Grand Ave. St. Paul, Minnesota, 55105 651-292-9165 goodguy@goodguysproaudio.com Your issue will require parts not available to end users, only authorized technician. I already checked with Full Compass, for those who might chime-in on this.
  19. Early ones didn't. Check the notes in the Downloads page, there was supposed to be a firmware update to allow that. The last Flash updates, I see it shows preset switching capabilities, but nothing about using the HD500 as an interface for doing updates. So I would say no, not the HD500. The update capability came out at the same time the HD500X, so they didn't add that update interface ability to the HD500 features.
