Battery Not recharging
psarkissian replied to ricmus's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Frankg111,... it may be a case of an intermittent connection, the battery box circuit might be sending a false low battery signal to the processor board. -
Has there been any hardware updates to the Spider Jam?
psarkissian replied to razcob's topic in Spider Jam
Register the unit so I can check the serial number. -
SPIDER JAM 75W ALL TIME CLIPPING (NO CHIP OVERHEATING)
psarkissian replied to markyglam's topic in Spider Jam
Local distributor or online (Full Compass doesn't ship to outside of the USA), so online would be a third party. -
SPIDER JAM 75W ALL TIME CLIPPING (NO CHIP OVERHEATING)
psarkissian replied to markyglam's topic in Spider Jam
Check under that amp board, if the circuit trace is burned near one of the pads, then you will need a new amp board. Jumper-ing it won't work if the trace is broken, will be too hot for solder to hold. -
Don't do that. Use the correct primary to secondary. Don't use a substitute.

"They sound great, but I don't think they work reliably in these amps. "--- Correct. JJ's are good tubes, just not in these amps. They are not all analog tube amps, so you can't go tube swapping like we used to do back in the 1960's and 70's. I want to keep all your gear of of my repair bench. So use the specified tubes, please.

If it is a 120VAC transformer,.... yes. Can't go mixing and matching. Everything has to conform to the voltage of the region.

variax JTV 69 tremolo bar (in Canada)
psarkissian replied to seratone's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
" Is there a generic or other brand Trem arm that will work - like PRS or Fender? "--- afraid not. It's internally threaded and has to be the correct threading or the threads will strip. https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/231975-line-6-30-51-0381-line-6-jtv-tremelo-arm ... for a 69 Tremolo arm from Full Compass. -
Realistic Bundle
psarkissian replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Be careful with 3rd party model patches, as the amplitudes between patches can be overly normalized and contribute to what's referred to as "plink tone" or "klang tone" with some of them. Have had discussion about this earlier this year with users while at NAMM. Some now being aware of this are now double checking their patch sets before releasing them (and some aren't). Be aware of that. Have heard that some of these are pretty good. Rock on!!! -
Have the Set-Up checked by a Line 6 authorized service center. More than likely it's the piezo saddle height and/or the intonation adjustment on that string needs to be dialed-in a little bit tighter.
-
" I have never experienced that with any other amp that had a simple tube issue. "--- This is an amp has a digital stage as well as an analog stage. These stages have to talk and be nice to one another. An all analog tube amp is different that way.

JTV59 sound intermittent.
psarkissian replied to Ludie's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
"... needing frets soon so I may send it to our glorious moderator and top drawer Line6 tech when pulled outta daily service. I'm certain he would be able to solve some the B9 stuff and other things... "--- Six years old-ish. Happy to do so. Come to your uncle-P, for some techno TLC. Probably time for 50,000 mile check-up,... rotate the tires, check under the hood,... work some worn frets. The usual stuff for one of that mileage. When you're ready, log a Support ticket and they'll get things going for you. -
Broken cable lid. Now sizzing sound.

JTV-69 Tremolo Bar
psarkissian replied to mkaylor's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Both generation use a bushing. Don't know if the early generation bushing is still available. It's not the same as the current generation. -
" The stock strings are D'Addario .10-.46 (D'Addario EXL110BT). "--- actually, factory is just the standard issue XL-110, http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=3769&productid=13&productname=EXL110_Nickel_Wound__Regular_Light__10_46&sid=7c0f58da-c580-4432-9972-fbe132fc8fb3 ... no suffixes. That is what we use here. Some players like the 11-gauge version, which are good too.

Problems with Variax Standard and Helix
psarkissian replied to ottovonotto's topic in Variax Standard
Not connecting through VDI,... sounds like it needs servicing. Could be the connector. Log a support ticket with Line 6. Would have to be checked out by an authorized service center who knows the product. -
They're still available, through Sweetwater.

What type of Variax is this?
psarkissian replied to Dylan_Mitrenca's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Yes,... 700 Electric. -
Until you hear from Line 6 officially, rumors are just rumors, don't fall for rumors.

It's not a myth, it's the extremes of thermodynamics. Too deep and lengthy to get into here. Leaving on in standby give it a chance to settle in. Biasing too soon after turning on can leave you with bias error after a half hour. Doing a turn on and standby, then bias, then run tests, and checking bias at the end of the tests, shows that there is less bias offset. Not letting it settle in at the start can show a bias offset later on. And that's not good. Major recording facilities with Neve and SSL boards will leave them on 24/7 whether they're being used or not, for similar related reasons.
-
Don't know what's coming down the pipeline. I never find out until they have one that needs to be checked out by me. Nothing so far. "Idea Scale" is a place to go for submitting ideas, wants and wishes. It's how the Helix was created.

All four have to be matched, so all four have to be replaced at the same time with a matched set,... in this case, the whole Quad.

Need Advice on Damaged PCB Board
psarkissian replied to Markonian's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Thank you Steve. Markonian,... make certain the color sequence of piezo connection to the connector are in the same color sequence before removing anything. I warn people about using too long of screw, all too often, so you are in good company with a number of others out there.
