Jtv vs Shuriken
psarkissian replied to Brodenkirk's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The factory Model choices are different. The 59 has a set of models common to the JTV series, while the Shuriken has a mix of JTV models and Stevic McKay artist created models. -
Variax Acoustic 700 PS-2 replacement?
psarkissian replied to Mincer's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
VDI, batteries, XPS,... afraid those are the options. Anything else is risky to the instrument, and replacement processor boards are scarce. -
sparkyERTW,... know what you mean, part of the Csound email group, so I get a small taste of it.
-
Compliance,... we have a couple of people here for that. A number of hoops to jump through regarding such things.

Don't forget to read the notifications at the top of the window about 3rd party patches and such. Be aware of warranty implications, wouldn't want someone's warranty voided over this. Go in with eyes wide open. Be careful, would hate to see someone's gear crash because of a "used before defined" error. @sparkERTW,... yeah and watch out for those segmentation and parse faults too. Line 6 doesn't support modification to its gear that might affect the function of the product. Aside from that, luck and happy hunting.

Nitrocellulose lacquer on Variax Standard
psarkissian replied to jay4nexus's topic in Variax Standard
And nobody likes Nitro, because it's so hard to strip for re-paint and do cosmetic repairs and touch-ups. -
Not bad. They would know how to do that, I know some of them over at Strymon.

JTV-69S First three string modeling off
psarkissian replied to prudenjim's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
@prudenjim Either the "dual tone effect" where you are hearing the string from the guitar and the Alt Tuned signal through the amp, or the pick-up heights between the string and pick-ups are not set correctly. Either way, being in Alt Tune will make this effect more apparent. Turning the amp up or using headphones minimizes "dual tone effect", while adjusting the pick-up heights will minimize warbling from magnetic field pull on the strings. -
That is one solution that people use.

Use the correct specified supplies in the correct and problem way. Shortcuts do nothing except create problems, especially with power supplies.
-
Do not use JJ's, use the specified tubes. These are not all analog tube amps like we used to use in the 1960's and 70's. These amps are unforgiving of modifications, even something that seems minor like tube brands. The gas to vacuum ratio alone, is enough to insert minor deviations in the characteristic curves of the tube specs enough to make a difference in performance of the amp. The analog section and digital section need to talk to one another nicely. Using something other than the specified tubess changes that. And they need to be properly biased.
-
Do not use anything other than the specified supply. @ mylescdavis, :: "Does the M9 have enough voltage regulation to use a 12v supply?" --- No it doesn't. Use only the specified Line 6 supply or the Voodoo Labs distributor.

JTV-89F won't turn on
psarkissian replied to Vickozg's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
@Vickozg, It can be one of four things. This won't be something you can fix yourself. Looks like it's still under warranty. Since you logged a Support ticket, they will let you know what the options are. I will be following this post. Also, in the video you are using a 1/4" TS tip plug. Try using a guitar cable with a 1/4" TRS tip. This is a guitar with active electronic, it works better using a guitar cable with a 1/4" TRS tip. -
Output configuration on the edit page should be as follows,.... 1/4 Inch outputs Studio/ Match/ Direct Mode
-
- 24 months for light use bedroom rock stars. - 18 to 20 months for weekend warrior gigging. - 12 months for serious touring musicians. You also have to add the time the tubes were in there before you got the amp. The specified tubes should always, always be used in our vacuum tube (valve) amps, as these have a digital and analog sections in them, and they need to talk to one another nicely, or bad things occur. See my posting here on the Forum about this,... These are not the same kinds of tubes amps we used and worked on back in the 1960's (or in my case, the early to mid 1970's). Have to treat these a bit differently. The fact that this occurs after 30-minutes, points to the tubes. It's time. It should be taken to a Line 6 authorized service tech for it's 50,000 mile check-up, tube swap and a proper power tube bias. The sooner, the better, as continued use in this way can affect the output transformer, load matching resistors and fuses. This product is 11-years old and is time for a check-up. It should be taken to a Line 6 authorized service tech.

The edit page photo shows the incorrect output configuration for what he is trying to do. Don't go messing with anything other than the correct supply for the product you are using.

Updating JTV-69 not working! Help!!
psarkissian replied to Pat6969's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
What crusinon2 said,... should be taking to a Line 6 authorized service center to determine that. Could be something as simple as an intermittent solder point, jack plate or a more current board. -
The "GoFundMe" link part of that, it may be considered soliciting,... It may not be allowed here. You may want to review the Terms of Use here,... https://line6.com/termsofuse.html … and/or consult the Admin about that.
-
Do you have the interface device and cable? If so, the manual has directions on connecting, and the Knowledge Base has additional tips if the interface LED's don't go green.
-
Without registration, they will not be able to connect to Line 6 apps or updates. Without receipts, there will be problems registering a stolen item. Not being registered also makes it hard for Line 6 to follow any trails. Bought from a pawn shop, there should be a receipt. Having that would be a great help. Find whatever receipts there are, then log a Support ticket in your account.

How long since the last tube change out?
