  1. Is the tech using the specified tubes and the specified bias? Can't treat this like an all analog tube amp. Is the tech a Line 6 authorized service tech? They will have the correct service info and technical support. Is the volume control pulled out or pushed in? The two positions have different volume levels. Each of the four voice topologies will normally have different volume levels. Also make certain that the speakers are plugged into the correct amp outs for the speaker impedance being used.
  2. Tips on contact cleaners. Full Compass does not ship out of the USA. Try E&M Electronics in Milton Keynes or Mark Wright Music in Northampton. Mark used to be a tech at Line 6 Rugby when we had a location there.
  3. Haven't tried it myself in years. People here have have saved to the SD Card, or loaded from the SD Card to the Spider Jam. All done through the SD Card. The knowledge Base her in the Forum area should have more on such things.
  4. What firmware are you trying to update the 300 to? If the guitar side is green and the USB computer side is flashing red, then there is a problem on the computer side. Maybe some OS compatibility with the interface. Is the interface Driver program the latest version?
  5. All that will do is the functions shown on the the unit (bank changes, tuner, volume/wah). Something along the lines of the Shortboard is more like the functions you're looking for (record/play and other functions). Express MkII, the USB is for firmware updates, pedal calibration and a couple of other things.
  6. Have the set-up checked. If the neck relief isn't right Hi-E and G, sometimes B strings can break relatively easily.
  7. For JTV, use Workbench HD. For XT Live, use others on the Downloads page of the forum for use on XT Live. Follow the prompts in the Downloads page. The manuals have instruction on updating and editing in the Variax. Different programs for different product. For the Variax, use the interface device shown in the manual.
  8. Check the link from time to time,... https://shop.line6.com/refurbished/guitars/
  9. Looks like someone has already been in the unit. How long since the valves were last replaced? What brand and type of valves are in it? If it pops and crackles, then goes quiet, then it's the valves or the main board. It will need to be service by an authorized service center that knows the product and has access to service information and me. It is not a self repair situation.
  10. TRS stereo cable, using the headphone output. I think that response was for a different posting, sorry. Not for the Spider III series. https://l6c-acdn2.line6.net/data/6/0a060b316ac34f059333e20bb/application/pdf/Spider III 75/120/150/HD150 User Manual ( Rev B ).pdf For the user manual.
  11. 1) Seen it, not common. Typically just the finish, not down into the wood (only seen two into the wood). 2) Can happen at stress points, especially with bolt-on necks. One of my JTV-69's has a small one in the finish, at a corner stress point at the edge of the neck pocket. Not a problem for me. 3) Take it to a guitar finish specialist.
  12. With graphic EQ-ing of a room, it's dependent on the room itself. No two rooms are the same. Not too heavy on the lows or you gets muddy, not too heavy on the highs or you get ringing, go easy on the 3kHz mids or it gets nasally. It's all about balance. Enough lows for a good bottom end, enough highs for a good crispy sheen.
  13. Go with a Samson Graphic EQ. They are inexpensive and perform well, they are very useful for EQ-ing a room or for a live performance situation.
  14. Modeling,... there are about eleven different ways to do the math behind modeling. For more info, Wiki or Google: Karplus-Strong Filters, Digital Waveguides, Physical Modeling and Julius Orion Smith, III. It's quite the interesting subject.
  15. Agreed. The whole universe is a series of cycles. No reason for us humans to be any different. If Idea Scale never existed, we'd probably set-up a topic here for that in its place,... or something similar. And some of those real, more off-the-beaten-path variety of string instruments can be an interesting play, whether real or modeled.
  16. Helix was a result of Idea Scale. There's always something brewing here, they just don't tell me what. But yes,... all speculations. Best to wait for official notices from Line 6. Speculations are like spitting into the wind,... there's a Jim Croce song in there somewhere.
  17. Don't really know, since I'm not in engineering or software development. They don't tell me anything until they need me to fix it.
  18. Esoteric for the US, for the most part, pretty normal and everyday to me. Typically referred to in the US as ethnic instruments, as they don't always tune to western tone scales. Bouzouki, mandolin, balalaika, nylon classical/Spanish guitar, Oud, Lute, harp guitars, Asian instruments not used in the old Variax Acoustic guitars,... ... a whole host of instruments could be added. Maybe as an add-on to Workbench HD as an ethnic/traditional instrument custom pack or something. Maybe submit that to Idea Scale. In Idea Scale, the sky doesn't have to be the limit.
  19. Yamaha in Germany is our service partner covering the Euro region. Also there's the link to Line 6 authorized service centers your area. https://line6.com/find/service_center/
  20. Harmonic at fret five,... it may be the tuner won't track that high of a pitch. Never tried tuning anything other than open strings on those myself. Not really meant for use beyond being like the mini head-stock tuners. We use a Peterson precision tuner here for intonating with.
  21. If it's a 300 Electric, the owner's manual will specify,... https://line6.com/legacy/variax300 If it's a 300 Acoustic, the owner's manual will specify,... https://line6.com/legacy/variaxacoustic300steel Those will have information on connecting for playing or interfacing with Monkey or Workbench. The Sonic Port Series or POD Studio Series (thru Gear Box or POD Farm apps) of interfaces will work just fine. Check product notes for OS compatibility. Been using POD Studio interfaces with my 300 Electric and JTV guitars with my Mac laptops for sometime now, works fine.
