  13. bobbo, nice 2 hear from u again, hope u r doing fine. now abt patch levelling, here is a simple method i use: 1. Simulate your live play list by recording small indicative parts of intros, rhythms and solos for all songs (use Audacity or other similar software). 2. Then, just by visual (and audio) inspection of the recorded track waveform, make level adjustments. 3. Repeat process until all levels acceptable. Important: do not touch the HD500 master volume, set it at some initial position (say 11 o’clock) and leave it there during the cycle. Do all adjustments using all other level controls (eg amp ch vol, mixer level, studioEQs, etc). General rule of thumb: solos must be some db (say 2 or 3, depending upon each song) higher than rhythm parts. rgds/john ps cld u post an "executive" comparison summary betwn hd500 'n ur new digital modeller? ur opinion wld be of much interest. Attached image demonstrating clipping:
  14. i design one or more presets per song. i also ensure that each preset uses only one fs (solo boost-gain, harmony, reverb, etc). And this single fs is "synchronized" with the bank position/letter occupied by the preset. eg I have designed 2 Aqualung presets: 2AQUALUNG1a (main riff+solo) and 2AQUALUNG clnP3- (acoustic parts). In one live setlist 2AQUALUNG1a is stored in position C, the fs 4 soloing is FS3. In nother live setlist 2AQUALUNG1a is stored in position A, the fs 4 soloing is FS1. In this way I always know that the appropriate fs is right abv the preset position letter: ie all presets in position A use FS1, all presets in position B use FS2, and so on... in this way no "brain ram" is consumed 4 memorization.
  15. there is no objective right or wrong "input settings" rule of thumb. the only subjective one is "trust ur ears". there r some cases where "input1=guitar/variax, input2=something else" provides good results, but there r also many other situations where "input1=guitar/variax, input2=same" is a must. eg, check out this tone and hear the resulting (live) sound in this vid (patch designed 4 jtv, thus using input1=variax,input2=same).
