very very very cool. I also would want a pedal (if I wanted one), but this is a very very cool idea.

turn off any cab sims in Helix. You don't need them. Use the preamps not the amps, when you make your patches. Stop worrying about "global EQ". Just adjust the Helix amp sounds the way you want them, listening through the cabinet. Also, if you play your patches and make them sound real quiet, know that when you turn them up real loud they will change BIG time. You have to tweak your patches at gig volume.

I've had my Helix Rack for 10 months. No stuck pixels or lines on Control. Just an anecdote, but...
-
I think either would work well. I think it's more important to get the guitar that is going to inspire you more otherwise. My luck with Godins has been exceptional. I've had 3. All amazing. Never used them with an IR, got rid of them too long ago.

How to tie all 4 paths together into 1 linear path?
PeterHamm replied to musiclover7's topic in Helix
There's a template called Super Serial X2 I believe. It's early in the factory templates bank. It's also explained on p. 19 of the current rev D Helix manual. -
1. It's one of the lightest pieces of rack gear I've ever used. no problem even if you only used two screws (but use 4). 2. Any cat 6 cable will work. 3. I wouldn't extend the USB, but the audio? Sure! I don't know who makes it though.
-
There isn't a way to do this, but it can't take more than 10 seconds to manually disable them on the screen, can it?
-
BUT... With Helix, you MIGHT want to do snapshots on the bottom row and stomps on the top. That way, you will have ZERO latency as you change sounds. Unless you are constantly changing all your amp models and such, it'll work fantastic.

Timmy and Klon are all I use anymore, but I like the Tube Drive a LOT, too. Maybe I should dial that up again.
-
Glad the OP got what works for him. That said, different strokes. I know a couple guys who got both and ended up so far liking AX8 better. And for them, it was probably the right choice. (Wish I could afford both!)

Heck, I'm still on MAVERICKS on this computer right now, and I will perhaps be buying my next mac very soon and will actually opt for the 2012 13" MBP you can still get new so I can continue to run Mavericks.
-
Yes, the feedback buster should have no effect on the IR sound whatsoever.
-
Don't know why that wouldn't work. ARe you saving your patch as soon as you set that?
-
Yup, I always forget the names of stuff when my Helix isn't around. Also, the only EQ I use is the parametric. Learn to use a parametric EQ and compressor right and you can learn to do any kind of sound work.
-
Only problem is, it will be so different with your guitar, your room and your speakers that it'll cause more harm than good. Easier (I promise) to dial it up yourself. With the 3 Sigma IRs I go from IR -> Vintage Pre with the input kinda low, the output high, and the level set (I think) to line or whatever the opposite of the default is -> vintage tube comp very close to defaults -> para EQ. I do VERY little eq, just removing a tiny bit of boom on some lower freqs and boosting just a little bit of highs... I use the sound of the room to guide me in my frequency selection.
-
Yes. But then I add the vintage tube preamp, very subtle comp and eq, and any FX I want (mostly delay and occasionally verb).
-
I've never used the pad. Ever. I would leave it off unless you have a problem. Only time you NEED it is with active pickups and sometimes not even then.
-
Never... ever... ever... Upgrade to a new OS right away. Never.
-
I had one once and it's also, even though it's plastic, surprisingly rugged.

You know what I hate? People who DON'T USE COASTERS! THAT is serious...

2-voice guitar is GREAT with Helix and a FIshman-equipped electric. I use Return 1, NOT The Aux in. seems to work better, but if your Fishman has a preamp it might be fine through Aux in. NON-preamp equipped piezos do NOT work through Aux in as well as through a Return. You will get this kind of result. Go here and check out the 2nd and 3rd videos down. https://pietrosquared.wordpress.com/helix-2-voice-guitar/

TRS expressions sometimes work, sometimes work backwards, sometimes don't work, sometimes work if you make a special cable. TS is what the actual jack is.- 60 replies

The only feature/function on my AG Stomp that no longer works. But that's okay.
