This hasn't happened on my Helix Floor for a long time, but occasionally my Stomp goes silent. Unfortunately for my troubleshooting efforts, it tends to happen when it's been on but I haven't been playing it for a while. It's a very rare occurrence, and it's happened across versions. I sure wish they'd find a solution to it. I also wish that the others who've posted to this thread would take the time to come back and update the rest of us on the solution/response they've gotten from support.

Assign Pedal Position to your pedal - MIDI or Expression. If MIDI, assign the CC# that the pedal uses. Assign the Heel and Toe Position parameters to Snapshots. In each snapshot, assign the MIN/MAX HEEL/TOE positions to what you want. In the attached example preset I've assigned the Pedal Position to Helix Expression Pedal 2. MIN/MAX Heel Position is 0. MIN/MAX Toe Position is: Snapshot1 = +3 Snapshot2 = +5 Snapshot3 = +7 Snapshot4 = +12 Hope that helps. Whammy.hlx

Did you do the 2.82 update?

If you can hang with 40ms latency.......that's the same as my Sennheiser RS-185 digital RF set. I find it distracting to hear the string acoustically before I hear it in the headphones, never mind what it does to the "feel" factor.
-
The following is just a guess, based solely on a visit to the Flare web site. Your "IEMs" are NOT intended or designed for use with musical instruments. They are designed for full range music reproduction. When you hear your guitar in isolation it sounds dull in comparison to full range music. When your guitar is mixed with full range music it blends in and you don't notice it. I could be wrong, but it's the only reason I can think of. Having something plugged into the AUX IN does not in any way (that I know of) change the quality of the Stomp's guitar signal.
-
Sorry, I misunderstood your post. Try this. Connect your audio source - computer, smartphone, whatever you can stream audio from - to the L/R FX Returns of the Stomp. In GLOBAL SETTINGS>INS/OUTS set RETURN TYPE to AUX IN. Connect your IEMs to the Stomp Headphone jack and play along. How does it sound?
-
That makes no sense. AUX IN is for connecting an audio SOURCE to an amplification device. Probably you're just confusing terms. How about - when you plug the headphones into the HEADPHONE jack of your computer or smartphone, how does it sound?

4CM with HX effects bypassing amp footswitch (darkglass VM500)
rd2rk replied to cavemanpaul's topic in Helix
I had a look at the manual/scematic. I think phil_m is correct, as there's no reason that the HXFX would do what you're describing. Are you using an FX Loop Block in your signal chain?- 5 replies

1024 and 2048 are the available IR lenfths. pick one, then you'll see the actual IRs.
-
You have to UN-zip (expand) the file first. You'll see the individual files in the folder. If they're .wav files, they should import properly.

Sorry guy, no lag whatsoever on my box.

If you're actually looking for a solution, ATTACH THE PRESET SO WE CAN TROUBLESHOOT IT!

I finally figured it out. As usual Operator Error. Operator unable to fully comprehend incomplete/vague manual. What the manual doesn't properly explain is the concept of DISCRETE OVERDUBS and LAYERED OVERDUBS. Yes, I made up those terms, to describe the way the Looper actually works. Once the initial loop is recorded, if you press RECORD/OVERDUB it SAVES the initial loop and goes straight into OVERDUB mode. You can record as many overdubs as you want, but if you press UNDO it deletes them ALL, leaving just the initial loop. If you press PLAY/STOP, the initial loop and the LAYERED OVERDUB is SAVED as a DISCREET OVERDUB. That overdub can be deleted by pressing UNDO. If you record further overdubs and press PLAY/STOP, THOSE overdubs, simple or layered, are saved as DISCREET OVERDUBS, become the most recent, and will be deleted by pressing UNDO, leaving the initial loop and any previously saved overdubs. As long as you press PLAY/STOP between overdubs, a DISCRETE OVERDUB is created, and UNDO will delete only the last SAVED (DISCRETE) overdub. I hope that makes sense. I know, all the smart cats figured this out themselves long ago. Maybe because it's how standalone loopers work? Dunno, never used one. However, I do not think that this is intuitive. The manual could have gone a bit more in depth about the process. If it did, and I missed that part, point me to that part of the manual, I don't see it. As for me, I'll continue to use Reaper for loops. Much easier for me to deal with. Besides, I can never time the button presses right! :-)

Since you couldn't dupe the problem, I was thinking it must be a problem in my Helix, I exported my setlists and impulses, then did a 9+10 reset. Re-imported my setlists and impulses, then rebooted. My setlists rebuilt on reboot, and I tried it again. No joy. I can't see that I'm doing this wrong, but - I record a loop. Exit looper (still playing the loop) and change effects, record an overdub. Record another. After it plays through once or twice, while the original loop plus 2 overdubs is playing, I press UNDO. That should delete the second overdub, leaving just the original loop and one overdub. Then I tried recording a loop, recording an overdub, then stopping playback, exiting to change effects, starting playback, then recording a second overdub, then pressing UNDO. Again, both overdubs are gone. Normally, when I play with loops, I do it in Reaper, e-z p-z. But this should work, darn it! Makes me crazy. I'm going to call support and see if they can sort it out.

The default is usually Channel 1. Section 7.2 of the Switchblade manual details how to tell which channel it's on, and how to set channels. Default channel on Helix is Channel 1. In GLOBAL SETTINGS/MIDI-TAP TEMPO you can set the Helix Base channel to send all MIDI on one channel, and that can be overridden in Command Center for any specific MIDI command. In depth knowledge of MIDI is not really necessary in your specific use case because the Switchblade only reacts to PC (Program Change) messages. Reading the relevant sections of the Switchblade and HFX manuals can't hurt.... :-)

Maybe. It's all about signal levels. You may have to try both settings of the Input Pad in Global settings. Try the MIC Input before you spend money on an adapter.
-
You can try connecting the acoustic's XLR OUTPUT to the MIC input. Set the Input Block to MIC. You may have to adjust the MIC GAIN in GLOBAL SETTINGS/INS/OUTS. You may find that even with the MIC GAIN set to 0db the signal is too hot. Dunno, try it.
-
Disconnect the H&K controller from the MIDI port. Connect the Helix MIDI OUT. HFX always transmits from the MIDI DIN, so no changes in GLOBAL SETTINGS needed. Make sure that the Switchblade and the HFX are communicating on the same MIDI channel. A quick look at the FSM432 and Switchblade manuals indicates that all the FSM432 does is switch presets in the Switchblade. So, you save a configuration as a preset in the Switchblade and assign that preset number to the HFX in Command Center. You can use an Instant Command (IC) to send the Switchblade preset number on loading the HFX preset, or assign HFX buttons to send Switchblade preset numbers from within an HFX preset.

I don't normally use the looper, so I'm not sure if this is normal behavior. I've recorded a loop and two overdubs. When I press UNDO I expect to delete the second overdub (manual: If you make a mistake on your last overdub, step on UNDO to erase it), but it deletes ALL overdubs. I'm on v2.82.

Not sure what you mean. Rephrase for clarity?

Based on the Anderton's review, you can plug the send unit into the MONO output of the Helix and there ya go! If you've got a G10 (or any wireless) to send the signal to the Helix, you're TOTALLY wireless.

Why not attach the preset here so that we can try to duplicate/troubleshoot the problem? A picture may be worth 1000 words, but the preset is the real deal!

Helps if we know what exactly you're using. I use Reaper as a DAW on a 7th gen i7 laptop with 16MB and an ssd. Occasionally (usually after a Microsoft update) the Helix (Stomp or Floor) doesn't show up in the DAW. Re-installing HX Edit with all options then rebooting Windows solves the problem (re-installs drivers). I use a Scarlett 18i20 (2nd gen) with my Helix Floor (Scarlett as Interface). Zero latency when used direct (Input to Output, no DAW) and the monitors connected to the Scarlett. When using Reaper, if I have the Track Monitor function ON, I'll get latency. Anywhere from 7.6 ms RT at 64 samples to more at higher sample rates. The latency appears as an echo. Turn the Track Monitor switch OFF, no echo. My Stomp goes direct to DAW (Stomp as Interface) on my 2nd gen i5-2410M with 8MB and ssd. The i5 can't handle 64 samples, so I go 128 samples and get 20.5ms RT latency. My monitors are connected directly to the Stomp outs. So, based on what you provided and assuming a lesser Scarlett, going direct in to out with the Monitor knob set fully left (counter clockwise) and your monitors connected to the Scarlett, you should get zero latency. Check your Windows Sound Panel. In my Stomp configuration I'm sending streaming audio (YT, Spotify, backing tracks stored on the computer) to the Stomp's AUX in, so the Playback device in Windows Sound Panel is set to the Laptop's soundcard. Recording has all devices disabled. This works because the DAW is using USB I/O, and the Sound Panel settings control, well, the computer's Souncard functions independent of USB.

Didn't see that on mine, but I may have done my updates when the moon was in a different phase! :-) They want us to think that computers are science based, but sometimes I think it's equal parts VooDoo!

EXCELLENT! Hope you posted this over on that TGP thread. It's exactly what (I think) that thread was looking for - not too geeky and very informative!
