In PREFERENCES - AUDIO click HARDWARE SETUP. There's a Slider titled ASIO BUFFER and the range is EXTRA SMALL to EXTRA LARGE. It's stupid, but it is what it is. EXTRA SMALL is 64.

Well, yes, like I said, you can copy/paste a snapshot WITHIN that preset, but not from one preset to another, which is what OP wanted to do. I could be lacking in imagination, but unless all you want is identical presets with the snapshots in a different order, what would be the point of copying the preset then copy/pasting a snapshot within it, apart from a different snapshot order from the original? Not being snarky, just wondering, maybe learn something new.....
-
Actually, I thought that sounded logical so I tried it. Didn't work.
-
Only works WITHIN a preset, and you'll want to make sure that your snapshots are custom named, because Snapshot 1 will paste as Snapshot 1, then you'll have 2 Snapshot 1s!

I'm pretty sure there's a misunderstanding here. I checked the Docs for both Helix Floor and LT, and near as I can tell, the Global setting for "USB 1/2 Destination" works the same way on both. As described in my previous post, USB 1/2 can be sent to EITHER 1/4" OR XLR OR MULTI. This should allow directing his click track to XLR only, as I did with my backing track.
-
This is what I did. I loaded a backing track (audio is audio) to a track in Reaper and set that track to Master Out (USB 1/2). The track and Master Outs in Reaper at 0.0db (unity). Helix - Global Settings - Ins/Outs "USB 1/2 Destination" is set to XLR. Helix (Floor) Master Out (BIG KNOB) set to 1/4" (Unity Gain to XLR), 1/4" Out connected to my tube amp (Egnator - Master at 2/3) FX Return. XLR connected to powered speaker (FRFR112 - the board in your configuration). With the FRFR112 Volume OFF there's no sound from EITHER the Egnator or FRFR112. As I turn up the Volume on the FRFR112 I hear the track from Reaper on the FRFR112, nothing on the Eganator. My Helix preset's Output Block is set to !/4" Out, and when I play I hear the guitar from the Egnator ONLY - NOT the FRFR112. Thus my conclusion that there's no leakage between the XLR and 1/4" Outs.

Well I'll be blinkered! A sense of humor! :-) Nope, along with the sarcasm you got all I can think of, and you did the right thing opening a support ticket. Having two, one of which works, does add to the mystery. Do update the thread when/if support gets to the cause of the problem!
-
But seriously, I know you think the settings are correct, but humor me. This is what's necessary to have a properly functioning Tap Tempo LED: In Globals - Footswitches - FS3 Function set to TAP/TUNER Displays - Tap LED set to ON You must be in either STOMP MODE or PRESET SCROLL MODE to see the Tap Tempo LED on FS3. Now that you've verified all that, still no Tap Tempo? You have a choice - Twitter or Tech Support? Who ya gonna call? DO NOT CALL GHOSTBUSTERS!

There are some people whose stars are not aligned correctly to use the Stomp, or any Helix for that matter. You must be one of those people. You'd like to believe that there's a bug in the product., and that the Illuminati who run L6 are hiding the truth from the unwashed masses. The problem with that theory is that there are many more people out here having no such problems with their (our) Stomps. Our presets don't disappear, the volume doesn't disappear, and our Tap Tempo (and all other) lights blink happily and appropriately day after day. If, in fact, all these things were big hairy bugs, EVERYBODY would be having the problem! Now, I'm not saying it's all in your mind - I'm a big believer in astrological determinism. I don't, however, believe in the Illuminati. Having been here for a while, I've seen so many wacky posts that I've wondered if there even ARE forum moderators! You are, of course, free to indulge yourself on Twitter. Many of the most intelligent people in Washington and Hollywood do so regularly. Some even take them seriously. However, if you actually want to solve the problem, calling L6 support is a MUCH better idea.

Just tried this, got no leakage at all, either way (USB 1/2 to XLR or 1/4"). Maybe there's some cross channel leakage in the mixer?

The Commander is a Loop Switcher. While it will send MIDI PC messages, changing the preset to get a distortion pedal is overkill, and will result in a momentary audio drop while the preset changes. Ideally, you'd want the HX FX out front, but if it's too big, something like this is about the same size as the Commander, and in addition to using single Stomps AND Snapshots, would also allow for using Expression pedals for Wah, Volume, etc. too. https://smile.amazon.com/Controller,MeloAudio-Multi-Effects-Controller-Switches,2-Expression/dp/B07HH27RVN/ref=sr_1_34?crid=3G2NA4SWE6M1W&keywords=midi+controller&qid=1568922197&s=musical-instruments&sprefix=midi%2Caps%2C179&sr=1-34

Reason I was wondering about it was that as a show gets more complex, involving synths, whole MIDI compositions involving multiple synths and drum machines can be included IF they can be imported into the show controller software. That's also why I mentioned Cantabile, it's that next step up if you ever need it.
-
FANTASTICO! And Thank YOU for turning me on to ShowBuddy. I'll likely never use it, but it's a cool piece of SW! I mentioned previously a program called Cantabile, which is a VST Host on steroids. Here's a link to the Cantabile Community Forum where they're discussing using Cantabile with DMXIS. Not that you need it just now, but if you decide to expand the MIDI/SYNTH aspects of your show, Cantabile is a super powerful alternative to ShowBuddy, and pretty cheap, too! https://community.cantabilesoftware.com/t/thinking-of-doing-dmx-stage-lighting-through-c3-best-practice/2188/11 ROCK ON!

That it works when you roll back to 2.71 is most baffling. Only other thing I can think of would be that the MIDI or USB driver isn't installing properly, but if you're starting the 2.81 update by installing the HX Edit file, all that should be automatic. I dunno...very strange! You may need to get with support to check that all the proper drivers are in there.
-
Yes, you need the expander box. The Helix USB port connects to a HOST (a computer with USB Drivers) or a dedicated HOST like the MID-X, which does the same thing as the expander box. Helix is not a HOST.

FWIW: These are the MMC commands sent by Helix, in the order they're listed in the drop-down The number in the first column is the actual MMC command (from MIDIOX). EXAMPLE MMC COMMAND: F0 7F 7F 06 01 F7 = STOP 01 Stop 02 Play 04 Fast Forward 05 Rewind 09 Pause (pause playback) 08 Record Pause 06 Record Strobe (AKA [[Punch in/out|Punch In]]) 07 Record Exit (AKA [[Punch out (music)|Punch out]]) The left hand column below is what MMC messages AKAI thinks Force can be controlled by (from the AKAI Force manual). The right hand column is what the Force does when it receives that message. MMC Deferred Play Play MMC Locate Zero, then Deferred Play Play Start MMC Stop Stop MMC Record Strobe Record (Rec) MMC Pause Stop MMC Locate values Change location in clip These are all of the MMC commands (from wikipedia). 01 Stop 02 Play 03 Deferred Play (play after no longer busy) 04 Fast Forward 05 Rewind 06 Record Strobe (AKA [[Punch in/out|Punch In]]) 07 Record Exit (AKA [[Punch out (music)|Punch out]]) 08 Record Pause 09 Pause (pause playback) 0A Eject (disengage media container from MMC device) 0B Chase 0D MMC Reset (to default/startup state) 40 Write (AKA Record Ready, AKA Arm Tracks) parameters: <length1> 4F <length2> <track-bitmap-bytes> 44 Goto (AKA Locate) Hope that helps!

I can confirm that Helix will send MMC messages. Using MIDIOX you can see the sysex messages in the monitor. Whether your device will work with MMC is dependent on the device.

OK, I found the manual. Created a Lightshow and a memo and set the MIDI chunk to start at the beginning. It all works the way it's supposed to as far as changing Helix presets as required. I wonder if the SW somehow assigns some kind of identifier to the external MIDI device that gets changed when Helix is updated? Have you tried, with 2.81 applied, to create a NEW MIDI Chunk and see if it works?
-
Despite the lack of documentation I was able to create a midi chunk file, import an audio track, and play it. Took about 5 minutes to figure out. Cool piece of SW! Helix changed presets as specified in the chunk file. Don't know what to say, it all works the way it should. Are you clicking the "Send to MIDI" button before you start playback? OK, I'm liking it less the more I play with it. In addition to the very annoying 30 minute shutdown on the Demo.... It seems (and this could be either a limitation of the demo or my inability to figure out this undocumented SW) that there's no real connection between the MIDI playback and the Audio transport. The MIDI doesn't play back when I start the transport, nor does the transport start when you click Send to MIDI. As soon as I click Send to MIDI the MIDI starts to play back independently of the Audio, and there doesn't seem to be any way to STOP the MIDI playback! Maybe I'm just not getting it, but I've spent enough time on this. If you know how to get around the above problems, let me know, because it SEEMS like it should be a good piece of SW, though how it can control a whole show without being able to IMPORT a MIDI track to control synths.... Have you seen Cantabile? I'd bet that using the DMXIS VST in Cantabile would get you a whole lot more functionality overall. If I had lights I'd be tempted to try it. Anyhow, I've proven what I set out to do, which is that Showbuddy DOES in fact switch Presets on the Helix.
-
Unless "Showbuddy" has a FREE demo version, I can't troubleshoot that for you. All I can do is Record and Playback PC changes from/to Helix using Reaper. MIDI is MIDI. There has to be a problem with the communication between Helix an Showbuddy. I just found the Showbuddy Demo. I'll have a look at it later and see waht I can see.

FWIW - I searched for wah in Helix. There were 1700 results. Searching for Looper turned up 1267 results. Not all of those are directly related to the Stomp, but I'm pretty sure that both the 1 button looper and the wahs are identical between platforms. Just sayin'......
-
I'm thinking that nobody talks about the wah because, well, it's a wah. It goes "wah wah wah". Some of the models are adjustable for frequency range. Not everybody likes all of them. Some of them sound great. Someone in a recent thread asked how to use an external expression pedal to both operate it and toggle it. @phil_m explained it. Not much more to say about it. Unless you have an actual question? I'm thinking that nobody talks about the looper because it does what it's supposed to do - it records, it overdubs, it loops. You might have to read the manual to get it to work. I never used it until I read your post. I read the manual. I recorded a loop. I overdubbed it. Started it. Stopped it. Erased it. 5 minutes to learn how to use it and test it. It works, as advertised. Did you have an actual question about it that wasn't answered by reading the manual and following the directions? Lots of people here more than happy to help out with actual questions........
