  1. Set the Helix out (I use an XLR) that you're connecting to the Scarlett to mic. Set the Big Knob on the Helix to NOT control that out (UNITY). Set the Scarlett's Instrument button OFF (or use one of the mic inputs on the back). Turn the Scarlett's gain all the way down. Play as loud as you normally play (BIG LOUD CHORDS!), turning up the Scarlett's gain till you hit a Yellow bar, then cut it back. In Native, set the Input around -36db. That should have you peaking around -24db, leaving lots of headroom for transients. Works for me!.
  2. That's a great article. Unfortunately, for the majority of Windows users who've already skipped Windows 101, it's TMI, eyes glazed, TL;DR. Most important simple rules: 1) Audio applications are processor intensive. The less stuff you've got running in the background the better your performance will be. SIMPLIFY! SIMPLIFY! SIMPLIFY! 2) DON'T USE WIRELESS! Constant processor interrupts cause all sorts of odd problems. 3) If you don't read anything else, read about optimizing your system for audio. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to do is to set your Power settings to MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE. That prevents the USB ports from going to sleep (to save energy) when you need them to be awake. Also, set the processor to maximize background operations: (Control Panel-System-Advanced System Settings-Advanced-Settings-Advance-Processor Scheduling-Background Services). 4) Don't use a hub. I keep reading posts where people say it works fine. Then it doesn't, and they post about how "It worked yesterday!" and expect someone to tell them why it doesn't work today. It doesn't work today because DON'T USE A HUB!
  3. You install the update by FIRST running the HX Edit Installer. That installs the latest versions of HX Edit, drivers, and the Updater. When you run the Updater, HX Edit MUST be closed, as well as any other programs. Closing all programs before installing new software is Windows 101. As Andy pointed out, it's silly that the Updater doesn't check to see that HX Edit is closed. That does seem like a sensible thing to do, since few Windows users bother with Windows 101 :-).
  4. Interesting - I installed using HX Edit 2.80, and it installed 1.93! Which is not listed separately on their Download page. Weired. Did you install the update using HX Edit 2.80?
  5. Then that's who you should ask - maybe he hadn't had his coffee yet? :-)
  6. Where did you get that info? The latest on the L6 Downloads page is 1.91.
  7. Are you plugged into a hub? Try different USB ports. Is HX Edit working? Is it on the same version as the Helix? Try unplugging the USB for a moment (with Reaper and HX Edit closed), then re-plugging. Try shutting it all down, then rebooting starting with Helix (wait till it's fully booted before starting the computer). If that doesn't work, try re-installing the ASIO drivers. All I can think of right now. I have Stomp and Helix Floor on separate laptops, both show both Stomp and Floor drivers.
  8. OK, first, I confused myself between the "SAVE AS" dialog in HX EDit and the "SAVE AS/SAVE TO" dialog in Native. In HX Edit you're saving to the hardware, and you can save to a different name and/or location on the hardware. In Native, you're saving to the default SAVE location (Library) with the option to rename, or you can save to (or load from) a different location/disk with rename option.
  9. When you updated, did you do the 7+8 reset? That loads the new presets, and there should be templates in the Templates Setlist.
  10. First, read the manual (both of them, MIDI and Command Center). In HX Effects, Global, MIDI, set MIDI PC Tx to OFF. This prevents the HXFX from sending it's default PC# when switching presets. In Command Center, set an IC (Instant Command) to send the PC# required (per the Blackstar Series One 45 manual - there's 128 choices!). In your case, if you want the HXFX preset to load WARM CLEAN, set the IC to PC#2 on that preset. If you want another preset to load SUPER CRUNCH, set the IC to PC#4. Likewise, if you want to use a Stomp to switch channels within a preset, set that stomp to send the appropriate PC# per the Blackstar Series One 45 manual. Don't forget to save the preset!
  11. I was wondering about this too. It makes sense in Native, but where, besides the hardware itself, would HX Edit be saving to?
  12. Agreed, cocked wah ability seems more useful than what OP is suggesting. But people want what they want.....:-)
  13. I don't use that function, so I don't know if Pat is right, but I don't think so, AFAIK Helix requires heel down to shut off the wah. If that is the case (no motions sensor/timer), then..... If you'd like L6 to take note of your idea, post it over on Ideascale. https://line6.ideascale.com/

    Suggestion Help

Search this and the Helix thread over on TGP for FRFR. There's hundreds of comments on the subject.
  15. Use an IR after an Amp block, not an Amp+Cab, as an IR IS a cab, and you're running a cab through a cab. If you want to use an IR with a cab, use an Amp block vs Amp+Cab, then pull one of them (IR or Cab) down into a parallel path. That way they'll be blended vs running one into the other. See if that helps with the drive sound.
  16. Helix doesn't (yet) have separate Preamp and Poweramp Models. You get a choice of Preamp; Preamp + Poweramp (Amp); or Preamp + Poweramp + Cab (Amp+Cab).
  17. Yes, I did the 7+8 reset, then restored my custom presets from backup.
  18. Don't know about the looper, I never use it, but the ON/OFF functions are still instantaneous.

    Password help!

Should be the same . CapsLock?
  20. If you'd like L6 to take notice of your wish(es), post it over on Ideascale.
  21. OOPS! My brain was on another platform! Indeed, the Native restore left my custom setlists untouched. As an aside - I copied (drag n drop) a preset from HX Edit (hooked up to Helix Floor) to Native. Worked perfectly! I'll have to try it later with the Stomp. This update is WAY cool!
  22. If you want the NEW Factory presets, you need to do a reboot holding 7 & 8. That'll install the factory presets and wipe out your custom setlists which you can then restore from your back ups.
  23. The updater updates the hardware. To update Native, download the Native installer.
