I currently use the FS ABCD mode for live cover gigs, but it means one has to be assigned for lead boost, or one less tone to quickly access. I'm thinking about changing to the all eight mode, like Hickdood describes so I can stop changing banks.

I'm suspecting that's coming from something other than the power source. Do you get the same noise when plugging 500X direct to Alto via XLR? (no eq, no mixer)

If you can't find anyone, meet me at Sagebrush Cantina, Calabasas this Saturday night 11/7/2015. I can bring my W7 laptop and we can try to upgrade it. PM me if you want to set that up.

If using two 1/4 inch outputs, are they balanced connections? Otherwise, you may have to use DI to the board.
-
Speakers 'break' if you send them more power than they are designed to handle, which has more to do with operating the PA output, not the POD.

My understanding and experience is that any FBV setting changes are stored within the software or amp you are using, not the FBV itself (such as Pod Farm, FBV Control Application, etc..). When you reconnect the FBV back to the SV, it will get it's instructions from the programmed patches in the SV, and operate accordingly and 'work as before'.

Thanks, I wasn't clear with that.

Just to add some experience here, I use my POD HD to Alto TS110A for practices and jams. I'm using the global EQ to cut boom and remove fizz. Sounds great, but the sound is very directional compared to a conventional amp combo. Hopefully, the Helix has some suitable settings for yours.

Try creating a blank POD patch with no amp or effect blocks. You might need to use a vintage EQ block to help bring enough gain to the DAW, but the MASTER volume may be enough.

My HD 500X Configuration that makes everything simple.

I've tried several kinds of tape, and depending on temperature of gig, it can get baked on there. If that happens, easy removal of residue is to dip the corner of a folded paper towel in corn oil and rub it off. -
I wonder if the physical jack connection on the HD500 effects loop is having trouble, maybe a bad connector tension, like it's shorting the cable connection. What happens if you leave a cable in the effects loop jack for a couple hours? Does the problem still occur after 30 seconds?

OK, since I always check this board, I'll add your fb group, request sent...

can put Digitech Jamman Stero from preamp out to power amp in?
napynap replied to xeluaxeman's topic in Spider Valve
Exactly, agreed, it works great. No need for external effects in the loop. The onboard preamp tones, clean, overdriven, distorted, effected, whatever, works well. Now if we can just find a way to disable the looper per patch... (excuse my sarcasm..it can't be done). -
If that's true, then my humble prediction on this forum was pretty close after all...

It really depends on how you are using it. In my case, playing live local city and private gigs, my FBV MkII connected to a POD HD is physically much more flexible and safer from fan encounters, extreme weather, and stage antics than the Helix can handle. I also carry a backup POD HD and smaller FBV MkII Express all for a total cost less than a Helix. When they make a water proof (read, beer-proof) unit that can sit in 100+degree direct sunlight for 4+ hours, I'll get in line.

Hard pitch correction can also be used as an effect that we've all heard on vocals for several pop hits, just like we use effects for guitar. If you like it, use it. Just another brush to paint your musical canvas.

Maybe the pedal has Volume assigned to it and changes slightly while pressing patch changes. Can you try disabling Volume control on the pedal?

Unable to assign Wah to foot controllers. Please help
napynap replied to Atomant669's topic in POD HD
I want to start using the Exp pedal as you describe for changing between clean/dirty, or adding delay feedback, etc.. but I disable it's volume control because too many things happen on our stage that can catch the pedal and make it go to zero, which always sounds bad. -
Yeah, it can be really difficult to read patch names and even LED status on a FBV during daytime outdoor summer gigs. The chrome buttons make it even harder! I read that the Helix was tested outdoors, so I hope that issue is resolved!

I'm thinking Tuesday, November 10th would be a smart official release date, two weeks before Black Friday (USA). A lot of big consumer products get released that week. However, most of those release dates have already been announced by now. It's curious why Line6 has been dragging their heels on this.

All tubes in the SV apply only to the power amp section, which includes the smaller 12AX7 and larger 6L6 type tubes. Your delay effect will be inserted before those tubes, just like the amp's onboard modeling amps/effects.

It's very difficult to troubleshoot since the signal comes back right away. After trying to replacing cables and such, one day at rehearsal, I just moved my wireless receiver 1.5 feet further from my POD and the dropouts disappeared. That's when I researched wireless interference and learned about the metal plate resolution. A jigsaw with a metal blade can cut through thin metal plates to get the right size. Put some gaff tape around the edges and you're safe!

Oehman, After carefully reading all the responses here, and attempting to resolve the issue on stage, it seems our monitor setup is not adequate for all members. That is both a function of having the proper equipment for each member, and their willingness to set it up on time for the show. Although it has been a struggle to fix this, I'm confident that less physical amps on stage have lowered stage volume and also eliminated common feedback issues, which helps communication amongst the band during performances. CUSTOM TONES: Since I keep getting requests for this, YES, I'll post some of my tones to Custom Tones, however, I completely agree with our Line6 forum members as I feel you WILL need to customize them to your specific guitar/pickup/monitor. Consider them more as a starting point... Tinker and learn what works for your style! I'll post the link on this topic when they're ready.
