  1. @psarkissin: is it okay (and possible) to pull out a piezo for cleaning, using a not so strong magnet on a 600? Or could there be done any damage to the piezo by changing polarities or something? Others pushed the piezo out a little using a needle or something similar but this means to reassemble the bridge.
  2. I tried my Yamaha DBR12 several times with a bass and the HD bass-pack. Worked great and fought well against a loud metal-drummer. But I would not bet my life that there will not be any damage caused to the monitor-cab. Nor would I do for a cheap or weak PA amplifier or the FOH speaker in a longer term.
  3. I will give it a try this weekend. To use a magnet to pull the piezo wouldn´t be a good idea, I guess? Just to be safe; How long would you name the length in cm? Any hints on the cleaning method? Normaly I clean metall-parts like frets using a super-fine grade steel-wool (0000). After cleaning I plan to use some Kontakt 60 (Contact de-oxidiser) on saddle-top and piezo-bottom.
  4. Check limiting the frequency spectrum using the global EQ to a range 80 Hz to 5000 KHz. If the fizziness disappears try to widen the range or better EQ by patch instead of the global option.
  5. Just to be sure... there is no way to loosen or rotate a piezo just by removing the strings?
  6. Thank you! Is there anywhere some known kind of step-by-step photo instruction on disassembling the saddle?
  7. Hi. On my Variax 600 the tone of the G-String temporary fades away to 10% and crackles. If I hit the bridge with my palm several times and/or let the string slap hard everything can be fixed and the tone reanimates. I know there are problems described with sweat and dirt, polluting the piezo. Also there are issues with grounding or loose cable-connections. Can somebody please give me a hint or provide some links so I can figure out some solutions?
  8. I have modeled the sound + level of my main guitar PUs (hot EMG), using Variax Workbench. As result I can switch guitars when ever I like. Got 95% there, which woks good for me.
  9. I had modeled my "Vogel Custom Guitar" with bridge EMG 81, using the LP Special as the fundament. Interesting was, that I used some kind of a lipstick singelcoil PU to get 95 % there, soundwise. If you are interested I could make screenshots of my settings by the time… And please take a closer look at this thread if you want to switch a regular guitar and a Variax on your needs, using the same patches http://line6.com/support/topic/22835-variax-different-volume-levels-at-clean-and-distorted-tones/
  10. I archive very characteristic sounds using amps of the vintage pack like the Pete Anderson or even the Acoustic with my Variax 600. I never tried to get in competition with the L6 demos but maybe they are all recorded in a special and fitting amp/cab/mic environment and not using one single setting for all. However... Variax and Vintage Pack works great together.
  11. Hurghanico was righth in his opinion, that the guitar input level makes no big difference on the compressed output of distorted amps. The result of -5 dB on the models.
  12. Maybe that´s interesting too? Especially the difference between the compressed distortion volumes and the cleans. http://line6.com/support/topic/22835-variax-different-volume-levels-at-clean-and-distorted-tones/ I am going into further investigations a.s.a.p. to level my volumes.
  13. Noticeable weaker on cleans but not on distorted tone, what makes me wonder. I would have suggested a overall weakness. In the next step I will reduce the volume level in Workbench by -5 and take another look at the waveforms. Usually the first graphs should not have changed very much but the cleans should narrow to each other.
  14. Hi. I have rebuild the tone of my main guitar, which uses a EMG 81, in Workbench and it sounds 95 % right. At the last rehearsal everything sounded good but there where some feedbacks. So I decided to proof the levels of my input volume Guitar > POD In the attached file you can see the differencies which are absolutely minor when playing a distorted amp and peak at bypass and clean-tones. Why are there so great differencies?! I used the same patches in a mono path.
  15. Can anyone please measure or record the difference between the full-range XLR-signal and the 1/4 cable-sim? Is there a significant difference in tone?
  16. @pianoguyy: This means; "to harden his erection". Never a bad advise! :D
  17. ... works in Variax Workbech too. I only wish they had sorted the mics and cabs by tone and not by name so you don't have to jump from A to Z to B sound wise.
  18. Welcome Emrah. Very good and helpful first impressions! I think you are on the right way. Good luck and have fun :)
  19. Hi everybody! I wonder why this idea does not get more votes? http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Headphone-level-output/576383-23508 In my opinion it would be absolutely cool to just have to plug in some Headphones to play guitar B)
  20. Oh, that's really a helpful one I hope I'll remember when needed!
  21. Awesome Player and great conversationalist :o
  22. As this is a +700 posts thread, it would be really nice, if the op could declare the post with one of the helpful contents as "BEST ANSWER", so one could find the essence of the solution at the beginning of the thread
