UX2 - OSX 10.11 El Capitan - No sound
BigChas52 replied to tonyjross's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Many other manufacturers are having problems with 10.11 as well. Line 6 is hardly the only one. Looks Apple broke this, and they are fixing it in 10.11.1, which is currently in beta release. Take a look at this link and you'll see quite a few manufacturers having problems with El Capitan https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8801 -
Problems with ux2: no meter movement and no sound
BigChas52 replied to albie_tbe's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
From my understanding, Apple broke the driver connection with Line 6 products with El Capitain. I have heard that it is fixed with the El Capitain .1 beta release.- 16 replies

Connect Pod 2.0 to amp
BigChas52 replied to a1terrier's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Sorry, but nope! You won't damage anything, but it won't work either. The POD will not power the speakers. It does not have built in amplification. -
Just a guess, but I would say probably an impedance matching issue. Solution . . . get an XLR mic. The instrument jacks are made for instruments. Good luck.

Selling Pod Farm 2.5 Platinum license
BigChas52 replied to meanmesh's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You can sell it, and then use the "gift" process to transfer it to the new user's Line 6 account. Note that POD Farm license can only be gifted once. The buyer will not be able to resell it. Also, DI Gold comes with all of the model packs, did you buy PF 2 standard (you would have inherited all of the model packs from DI Gold, or platinum, which has it's own licenses for all of the packs. If it's standard, only the base models will transfer with the license. -

Phantom Power Problem
BigChas52 replied to edwardli72's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
If you are getting a lot of static noise, it could be a few different things. Troubleshooting is the elimination of variables, so here are some things to try: 1. Make sure that the UX2's gain pot isn't dirty. Work the gain control a bit to reduce any dirt and corrosion 2. Make sure that gain is set as low as you can make it. You might be overloading the pre-amp. 3. Use a POD Farm 2 preset that is designed for vocals, such as "Male Lead Vocals" 4. Try a different XLR cable. You might have a bad one. (eliminate the possibility of a bad cable) 5. Try the MIC 2 input. (eliminate the possibility of a bad input on the UX2) 6. Try the mic, using the XLR cable in another device - Perhaps a friend has a PA or recording setup that you can test it with. Lastly, I would suggest a better mic. I would surmise that you are working in an acoustically untreated space, like a bedroom, or basement. Condenser mics are rather sensitive and can pick up lots of background noise. I would try to get a decent dynamic mic and work from there. If you are recording more instruments than vocals, I would try a Shure SM57. If it's more vocals than instruments, go with a Shure SM58. You can find either of those for about $60 USD or less used, or about $100 USD new. Good luck. -
How to listen only to DAW when recording POD HD 500x?
BigChas52 replied to mtdalpizzol's topic in POD HD
What you are trying to do can be problematic. Most folks find the latency that the DAW and plug-in's produce is objectionable for monitoring while recording. The latency can seriously throw off the timing of your playing. The fix for this is to monitor the signal at the source, in this case, the HD500's output or headphone jacks. The problem is, if you're using VST's to modify the sound, you can't monitor the modified output this way. In short, there are two routes, neither of which will be particularly satisfying: either monitor via HD500 and deal with unprocessed guitar sound, or monitor via Studio One and deal with latency. As a side note, VST's are best used as a post recording effect rather than having them run during the initial recording. Best of luck. -

What microphone are you using, and which Line 6 hardware interface? -
No microphone sound from UX1
BigChas52 replied to spideychick's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
In POD Farm, it's half way down, on the left, next to the MUTE button. In POD Farm 2, it's on the Mixer tab, and says "INPUT"- 13 replies

Pod Farm VST does not process in stereo
BigChas52 replied to norourke's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Best practice would be to have them on two separate tracks and use two instances of PF. Some of the effects in POD Farm sum to mono. -

What Line 6 interface are you using? -
I think you'll start to see more of them pop up after Helix is released and folks have a chance to get used to it. Then they'll start selling off their HD500(X) safety blankets.
-
Possibly a conflict between the HD500's wiring and the TRS adapter. I would have tried a standard TS cord before sending it back.

ASIO will should give you better fidelity and lower latency than the Windows sound does. Lower Sample rate = lower fidelity = lower CPU = lower latency = less space used on disk Higher buffer size = lower CPU usage = higher latency (useful if you are hearing stutters, pops, or clicks) - In general, keep this as low as possible without causing sound artifacts. lower bit depth = lower fidelity = lower CPU = lower latency = less space used on disk 44100 or 48000 sample rate at 24 bit is a good place to start

For each amp model, there is a second separate model with a name ending in "Pre". That means that the model has the power amp section removed. It is useful mostly for folks who play their HD500 through their favorite guitar amp, or use it with one of the Line 6 DT amps, and do not want the power amp coloration on top of their own amps power section sound. Avoid using those "Pre" with powered speakers or a PA system. Now, no more questions until you've read the manual ;)

I am just sooo confused about the Lin 6 product line???
BigChas52 replied to howarddavidp's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
As I do not own a Firehawk, I cannot disagree with you. I was comparing it to the AmpliFi TT, which does not appear especially gig-ready. -
+1, and you do not want to turn off the amps on your HD500. Avoid the "Pre" models as well. Using the studio direct mode will give you the sound of a mic'd amp when amplified through an FRFR monitor like your Behringer.

I am just sooo confused about the Lin 6 product line???
BigChas52 replied to howarddavidp's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
I'll give this a stab: 1. No. - Consider the AmpliFi TT to be an updated version of your POD 2.0 2. No 3. Yes - You can find the manual here http://line6.com/data/6/0a064389d07d547e33636c04b/application/pdf/AMPLIFi%20TT%20Manual%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20C%20).pdf 4. Sorry, I don't know if it works with either better. 5. That would probably be a good place to start, but you might want to tweak the Spider to match your own personal tone preferences 6. Firehawk has better options for gigging and live play, AmpliFi is nice and compact for table top use. 7. Spider Valve and Vetta are no longer in production. Your Line 6 amp head choices would be DT25 Head, DT50 Head, or Spider IV HD150. -
UX-1 issues out of nowhere, and NOT windows 10
BigChas52 replied to Duffman3012's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Sorry for asking the dumb question. I spent over an hour once trouble shooting my UX-2 only to find that the volume knob had accidentally been turned down. Over the years I've seen several embarrassed users who have suffered from the same problem. Check in Reaper to make sure that your UX-1 is selected as your ASIO device, and that all of the sends and outputs are enabled. I would also try to isolate the problem by checking the analogue cables, USB cable, and finally, checking the UX-1 on another computer to see if it's a UX-1 hardware problem. -

Any alternatives for Line 6 UX1?
BigChas52 replied to lemonjimm's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I've checked several other manufacturers. I own several alternatives to Line 6, including interfaces from Avid (ElevenRack), Focusrite (Scarlett 18i/8), and IKMultimedia (I've forgotten which one atm, since it isn't currently part of my recording setup), and I've checked all of their web sites for Windows 10 compatibility, and none of them are touting themselves as being "Windows 10 Ready." I've held back from upgrading to Win 10 just for those reasons.
