Here is the bias info from the old forums... https://www.myflare.com/0/io/hotlink/JEBMnbQEEeSqwSICChKQSw/DT-50-25%20Tube%20Bias%20Tips.pdf

Yeah I know, that's why I asked him specifically. However, there are other Pacifica models like this one or this one that are more in line with what I would expect. Still, I think it was a huge marketing failure to make their own design so close to a Pacifica for that very reason! Most people think of the cheap one when they see it right off the bat. So right from the start you are fighting the inital impression that its a $200 guitar for $800... I think they should have just taken the PAC212 and modded it and marketed it as that right from the beginning. At least that way you know what you are getting as a guitar plus the guts of a variax. Frankly, the more I look at that one the more I think that is what they did except for the headstock. I don't think they are dumb enough to actually use the cheap one... I really like the 212 with the black quilted topand matching headstock.

I asked DI about which model Pacifica they used and he told me flat out that while it looks like one, it was designed by Line 6's industrial and product designers in conjunction with Yamaha's custom shop in Burbank, CA. He told me it's Line 6's pickup design, Line 6's neck design, Line 6's headstock and pickguard design, and the body style is Line 6's too (their industrial designer was obviously inspired by Pacifica, as they knew Yamaha was going to manufacture it). The Burbank Custom Shop created Line 6's initial prototypes and made some suggestions. He also recalled a conversation where the product manager said it's definitely closer to the $500 Pacifica than the $300 one, build-wise. Hope that helps! If they offered it with the black quilted finish and matching headstock I would be sorely tempted...

great job Peter, they both sound really good in the mix. Looking forward to your vids and the patches.

opinions needed. hd500x or blackstar id260? I have a dt25 now

I am sure you know you can load 8 amp/cab configurations at a time in the DT, 4 on each channel. There are about 30 HD amps to choose from so I suggest you get a good USB to midi cable and use DT Edit to see what's loaded and try all the amp models and swap cab models too. There is such a huge range of possibilities its hard to think you can't find something that outdoes the other tube amps you own. If after spending time doing this you find you actually like the DT and want to keep it then it makes sense to get a POD to control it more effectively through L6 link. So much easier than using DT Edit all the time and you get all the great effects too. If you decide you love your other tube amps more, sell the DT and use the funds to buy pedals and other gear! -
I may be wrong but my experience has been that the fizziness is an integral part of the overall tone and practically goes away at volume. Often what sounds like crap to me at low volume is undetectable when I turn it up loud. I think it is comparable to trying to get a tube amp to sound the same at low volume as it does at high volume. It may be due to the HD modeling itself being too realistic. If the fizziness was not there the high volume signal actually driving the physical speakers would not be the same.

Well this is definitely too hot... lol...

From what we have been told, no. Only one channel per model. For instance the Bogner Shiva has the drive channel but the clean is not included.

I play around with dual amps/cabs a lot and MeAmBobbo's guide has been invaluable... thanks bro! one thing I have found is to use one full amp and a matching pre. It seems to be tighter with only one modeled power section. It uses less DSP too so that's a bonus. Try experimenting with the less popular amp models too. The Gibby is a great amp in a dual patch.
-
he deleted all his tones on Customtone too. :( Luckily I had already downloaded them!
-
is that right? I have never seen an amps FX loop anywhere other than after the pre section and before the power amp. Maybe I am wrong. As far as going into the front of the amp, maybe if you are just using effects but if you are using the POD's amps that is not a good option, especially if your goal is to gain consistency in tone across multiple amps. Of course I could be wrong...
-
If you are going straight into the FX return of the amp you are bypassing the amp's pre section and tone stack. You are doing all that in the POD and just injecting the signal to the amp's power section. The only thing that may still work is the amp's Master volume if it has one.

You should check this guy out…. Killer tones out of the HD500x

He is already on here... http://line6.com/support/topic/11780-just-uploaded-the-first-in-a-series-of-demo-videos-pod-hd500x/?hl=demo -
No you can't do that in the POD. What I do is save specific patches to my computer into a separate folder. Just name it something like modified default and save each default amp there. Now when you want to build a new patch you just load that amp model and it's good to go. Of course you need HD Edit to do it that way...
-
This doesn't work if you are going into the FX return... I guess you use the 4CM? The new global EQ should work for this though...
-
Well this is not going to be what you want to hear but... the only way to stay consistent is to go straight to the board/PA using full amp models in the POD. At least that way you will have the same tone at each studio and more or less the same at performance venues. The next best option is to use preamp models and Stack Power Amp output mode and go straight into the FX return on each amp (hopefully they have one). If you are trying to use 4CM on 3 different rigs you are bound to have difficulties. You will still have some EQ difference with the different amps and cabs but this should be much more consistent. What are you using for live performance? One of these rigs or something different again? When asking for advice/solutions it always helps to give as much info as possible. You did not say how you are connected, what output modes you use, etc...
-
you may want to consider a different speaker though... the V30 has a distinct voice, maybe try something a little flatter response.
-
so why not share the secret sauce with the rest of us? probably save some folk a lot of headaches. A lot easier than hoping Line 6 gets the same combination you did...

kind of what I asked you before... post some patches of amps with your preferred settings for live mode starting point and maybe we can hear what you are getting at. Otherwise you are just asking for some mystical tone that is different for each of us and Line 6 will never get right.

That was my question before, which model Pacifica is the Standard based on? There are a number of different models from $199 to $1200 so we need to know. Pacifica Models
