Thanks bro... good info to have. I don't understand why if the tubes are so critical, Line 6 doesn't sell the exact ones we need from their website. and I call total BS on the liability excuse... not really convinced on the can't use other tubes stuff either but... will be interested to hear about your bias mod...

Here is the LCD from FullCompass. Price is reasonable. Not sure what your level of skill is but it doesn't APPEAR to have any soldered connections. It does have a ribbon cable that may be tricky to connect. There are videos on YouTube for taking your POD apart and you should review them in detail to be sure you have the confidence to take it apart and put it back together again. It is tricky but not really difficult. Only you can make the decision to give it a go. If you do, please take pictures along the way. Not only for our benefit, but to help you get things put back the way they belong! ;) http://www.fullcompass.com/product/474570.html http://www.fullcompass.com/product_image.php?imageid=208167

they are releasing a new model pack in a few weeks for purchase that has a Variac Plexi model. Class and topology apply to the DT amps when used with the POD, has no effect otherwise. Download the advanced guide for info on output modes. http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434dfb244f7b7f489af64/application/pdf/POD%20HD500%20Advanced%20Guide%20v2.0%20-%20English%20%28%20Rev%20A%20%29.pdf

Looking for a 4 Channel mixer and speakers for HD500?
radatats replied to christufts's topic in POD HD
Isn't that why I said unless you were planning on mics or other instruments? lol... even so, most of that can be done using just the POD, which the OP was asking about... just trying to save him some cash and keep it simple... -
Looking for a 4 Channel mixer and speakers for HD500?
radatats replied to christufts's topic in POD HD
unless you were planning on mics or other instruments, there is no real reason for a mixer at home. Get the best powered speakers, studio or PA, you can afford and plug the HD500 straight into them. Remember that to tweak a live tone you will need to have volume. Your EQ at low volumes with small speakers will be way off when you try to go live in a real PA with the band... Plus when we get the new firmware update with global EQ that should help a lot too... -
Meris - I was talking to Spaceatl about the SVPre mod and how it made such a difference for the SV amps and was wondering if such a mod would be a good idea for the DT amps. He seemed to think that the input boards are much better in the DT's so maybe not needed but the gain voicings and the 12AX7 as buffer before conversion might add some more awesomeness to our DT's. If you ever think about doing one I would be in for it and I bet a lot of other DT owners would be too. I have a feeling there are a lot more DT's out there than SV's but I could be wrong. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

No, global EQ is a new feature that will be installed with the 2.6 firmware update when available.

of course. Its easiest with HD Edit, just grab the amp block and pull it up on screen and a second amp block and path will form. Now just add different amps and you are on your way. You will have to play with the mixer to get the levels right to hear both through your amp, a stereo PA would be better...

the question is not dumb but using 4cm with a DT25 and a POD is just plain dumb. The only reason one would ever use the 4cm is to use the tube preamp of your amp instead of the amp sims in the POD. Since the DT uses the exact same amp sims and cab/mic models as the POD and is fully designed to integrate with the POD using the L6 link you would be nuts to add all that complexity and potential noise and lose the benefits of integration.

Custom Jtv 59 With Bigsby B7

some of the responses seem to miss the question altogether... it wasn't are modelers better than valves? or will modelers ever sound better than valves? The question was will modeling ever replace analogue? For that, they don't have to sound better or even as good. They don't have to exceed some gold standard. They simply have to be adopted by a majority of guitar players, both amateur and professional. For that there is a point (and we may not be far off) where the quality of the tone and the practicality and reliability of the gear combines with cost efficiency to win the majority market share. Especially with the amazing improvements in powered speakers with built in DSP to match up with them. That day will surely come as technology continues to grow. There will always be a market for valves, it won't go away, but it is a certain bet that the day will come when digital will have replaced analogue just as it did for hifi electronics, tv, computers, avionics, etc...

great solution! well done... -
This was a very interesting development at NAMM and might offer a whole new range of possibilities for modelers in the future... a real miniature high performance vacuum tube. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Korg_Noritake_Nutube_-_2015_NAMM_Show.jpg

radatats replied to sirspikey's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
if I understand you right you want to record the clean signal and then listen to both the clean and processed signal at the same time right? If that is the case, you can do that with a dual path patch. Connect your interface input to the FX loop send and the interface output to the FX loop return. Put the mixer last in the chain (panned hard left and right) and keep all your amp and effects blocks in the other channel. Now take both left and right POD outputs to the speakers and you are set. Can this technique be used to get a cranked tube amp sound in low volume?
radatats replied to sijan92's topic in DT50 / DT25
Eddie will also tell you he blew up plenty of amps along the way and discovered his variac trick by accident too. He was a hands on tinkerer (genius?) but don't extrapolate his techniques to something you can do safely at home kids! -
I have played around with the gates in all kinds of ways and they can be a great help but also a big tone suck. Traditional seems to put it at the front of the chain but to my ears that can really deaden the tone depending on your gain stages after it. Another option is to place it after the amp. I like this option better when possible as it does not clobber the incoming signal and compensates for distortions, compressors, the amp and all the gain stages. Seems to give you a better dynamic range that way. The thing I don't like about that is it is a mono effect so if you are using dual amps or other stereo stuff before it you lose the effect. Not trying to promote it but I found the Zoom MS70CDR in the FX loop right after the mixer does a really good job. The noise gate preserves the stereo path and is very effective. I rarely have to use anything else with it. When using a gate after the amp, make sure it is before your delays, reverbs, chorus, etc as you don't want the gate to mess with your trails. For setting it I turn all gain stages on and then adjust threshold until it just cleans up. It just needs to keep silent when nothing is playing, not cut tone so as low as possible. When combined with palm muting I get dead silence. The hard gate is good for chug tones that need a fast stop start and I read somewhere it uses less DSP than the noise gate. That one I use at the beginning for max effect when needed.

Which Model with What Model?
radatats replied to Tboneous's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
aha... That's a different question than does it sound like the original. Definitely a difference between the mags and the models. The mags have more "life" to them, sort of airy, that the models don't and I haven't really tried to replicate it. I actually like the models better the way they are for a lot of stuff. Glad the patch works. -

radatats replied to sijan92's topic in DT50 / DT25
there is no safe way to run a tube amp silently. Power soaks will help to lower the volume but definitely affect tone, I know, I tried it. Not worth the effort. As mentioned above, you could build an isolation cabinet which is a sealed, soundproofed box which contains your amp and speaker. You would have your guitar cable in and the direct out but otherwise the box is sealed. It should be quiet enough but still no guarantees. If this was a simple thing to do, everyone would be doing it. It is not. Don't risk your valuable amp just for the supposed tube goodness. There are plenty of good tones available from the POD direct for recording. You gain nothing for recording purposes doing what you propose but risk destroying a great amp. -
is it ok the connect bass guitar to guitarport

totally unnecessary to my mind. Maybe there is something specific at that venue but I doubt it...
