  1. most people here use pods with the L6LINK. of course there are a variety of users so someone may have something to ad... but you'll need a bit of patience when asking specific and detailed questions.
  2. not really, here is basically the options: http://line6.com/store/downloads/podfarm steer away from anything that mentions ilok.
  3. there's practically 2 free completely new acoustic models already in workbench... just turn the octave strings off on the 12 stringers. :) they are nice alternatives.
  4. I would most certainly recommend it! but you can use a regular XLR microphone cable to try it out if you have one. you can also use it forever if it's a high quality cable and sounds good. lower quality cables can produce hum or other artifacts.... but you can very easily get a DMX cable or AES/EBU digital cable. (you don't have to get the L6LINK line6 branded versions)
  5. the topologies on the DT amps are NOT amp models in and of themselves... they represent configurations of the power amp.... when using the amp standalone, a specific pre-amp is loaded which gives you the amp model... when using with a pod via L6LINK, the preamp and other amp configuration details are sent from the pod. (the topology that the amp switches to does not indicate any specific amp model selected)
  6. Just to clarify... because of the FRFR comments etc... the context for me is through studio monitors in my studio... so it was indeed FRFR
  7. service centers are independent and set their own prices out of warranty. i believe that full compass has the switch, but i dont know the link.
  8. I've had good luck with one of the tones in the factory bundle.. i think it's "solo acoustic 2" or something. i may have made some minor tweaks here and there, but it was a good starter.
  9. it will play anything on your computer.. but only record the inputs on the UX1... so yes.... you can play along with a song on your computer and only record what you are playing... easier in my mind to simply put the song on a track on your recording software, as it give you more control over the whole process if you need to overdub etc.
  10. you need a midi interface like i told you in your other post. THERE IS NO WAY TO CONNECT MIDI TO YOUR UX2. sorry.
  11. Joe is a product specialist, not a support or developer person. he would be unable to comment on any future plans. even if he knew... which is unlikely.
  12. the big round multidirectional thing to the right of the display underneath the enter button.
  13. here's the cheapie: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MIDI-USB-IN-OUT-Interface-Cable-Cord-Converter-PC-to-Music-Keyboard-Adapter-G9-/151156490190?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2331a0ffce and here is the recommended: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Uno/
  14. plug a separate midi interface into your computer... the UX2 is a non factor. the UX2 does not come with a way to work with midi.
  15. you need a midi interface, there is no way to use a UX2 as a midi interface. some keyboards do midi over USB, so that might be an option... i've also used those 5$ midi interfaces from ebay successfully for keyboards before. for a more robust midi interface that will grow with your needs i'd recommend a m-audio uno (@40$) but for general keyboard things, i've found no downside to the cheapie.
  16. exactly... i'm annoyed by people that want to level them to the point of all being the same... the dynamics are a huge part of the original guitars character and sounds.... you should really balance your tone for the guitar (or model) you're using... or consider using a different model. In my opinion of course.... considering that the mags are much louder in this case... i don't think that the dynamics are as much a factor... i'm thinking a reflash will do wonders here.
  17. it's pretty straightforward to reflash to whatever level.. just get the desired file from the downloads section and flash from file. and yes... re-flashing works more often than you'd think.
  18. perhaps... but volume relative to the magnetics is never this prominent of an issue... i'd certainly try a reflash or 2 or 6.
  19. should be as simple as loading a virtual instrument and going to town on your keyboard. assuming you have midi configured correctly in your DAW. the UX2 should not factor in at all other than being where the sound will come out of. (which you may also have to configure in your DAW)
  20. some of the pairs carry power... so splitting them could be a disaster... you may end up feeding power into something that shouldn't get it.
  21. the looper didn't exist on any of the x-series products from which these models came. I imagine it was a combination of there not being a looper already done that they could just use on the platform... and perhaps some additional hardware costs associated with implementing one... it needs memory etc...
  22. Yeah, i can't say they all come like that though.. i got a very early one.
  23. not surprising, i think its all called something more familiar in development... and then they hand it over to their marketing guys to reinvent the reinvention of all inventions. :D i think my DT50 box even said vetta on it. :)
  24. try flashing from file.'download the file here: http://line6.com/software/
