+24 is two octaves up. Each unit represents a half step, and there are 12 half steps in an octave. So a fifth up would be +7. A minor third would be +4, and a major third would be +5.

What expression pedal are you using?

Studio Modelers-Echo Pro, Mod Pro, and Filter Pro
phil_m replied to goznu's topic in Studio Modelers / AM4
I don't know anything about the boards, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct. As far as the algorithms, the POD HD Pro does have them all (the effects in the XT series are different), but the behavior of the Legacy models in the HX Series will match more closely to the behavior of the old rack units. You could get an HX Stomp or HX Effects and have all the algorithms in the Pro rack units (along with all the new effects models in the HX series as well). -
Do you want me to give you a list of things Roland hasn't figured out? Number one on that list is the concept that you shouldn't have to jump back and forth between two or three menus to make a control assignment... But, seriously, having the Bank Up and Down switches up there seems kind of weird to me... If that were the case with the Helix, it would take away the ability to see two banks of presets at the same time.

The Legacy Tape Echo should be roughly the same as the X3 version.
-
There shouldn't be anything preventing you from performing the update now... Do you have a USB to MIDI interface? The update instructions can be found here: The latest flash file can be found here: https://line6.com/getrelease?rid=3768&uid=416571 What sort of problems were you having, exactly?

Pod Farm not recognizing auth in Acid 7
phil_m replied to Xerxces2112's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Do you have a license for POD Farm that you paid for at some time? POD Farm was never included for free with the PODxt like it was for the X3, so I guess I'm a little confused by your post. -
I'm having a hard time envisioning what you're wanting to do. Even if you were able to put the same FX Loop in multiple paths, it wouldn't really help you, because you'd end up losing stereo separation anyway. The incoming audio would be summed going through the FX Loop block and through the looper, so you'd have the same signal being sent to the output of both paths anyway.
-
That's very strange. Can't say I've ever heard of anything like that happening before. Is there any chance you could make a recording of it? Even if it's just a cellphone video, that would be helpful. Is there anything else in your preset other than a distortion block?

The Helix cabs are shot without any high or low cuts applied. Many IR makers apply high cuts to their mic channels when they shoot their IRs or it seems they spend more time massaging the mic positions so they are less harsh out of the gate. Line 6's approach is to give users as blank a slate as possible, I think and to not "bake in" those sorts of tonal corrections. I have a few presets that I made for the factory preset bundle, and one of the instructions we were given was to not use any high or low cuts in the cab block. I think they wanted people to adjust those themselves rather than have someone put some extreme values in there that might really change the character of the amp model a lot.

Will Variax firmware update work thru Helix?
phil_m replied to ddmiller's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I don't think Line 6 is ever going to make the Helix compatible with Monkey... There are technical reasons as to why that's not feasible. They may be able to make it so you can update the Shuriken through Line 6 Updater - I don't know. One thing is you only need to dongle to perform the update, and the Variax updates are pretty few and far between. You can use the Helix as an interface for Workbench HD, which is much more important, imo. -
Will Variax firmware update work thru Helix?
phil_m replied to ddmiller's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
The Helix cannot be used to update any of the Variax guitars. The issue is that the Helix isn't compatible with Line 6 Monkey, and you have to use Line 6 Monkey to send the update to the Variax. This is true for all Variax models. -
Advantages of g75 amp top over the g70 stomp box?
phil_m replied to RobWelsh's topic in Relay Digital Wireless
If you have a rack setup and don't want the unit on the floor, the G75 is better... The G70 is designed mainly to work with pedalboards. The G75 may have a slightly larger range in real life applications simply because being elevated means it may give you a clearer line of sight. I'm not sure if I'd say either is superior as much as they're just different. -
I can't really think of what would be causing a hissing or humming to come from inside the unit itself... I mean, it's possible that there would be some gases expanding inside, but I can't imagine that there would be near enough pressure that you would hear anything like that. I mean, it could possibly be the coils from the relays buzzing, but that seems somewhat unlikely... I don't know... Open a support ticket, I guess.
-
Well, it depends... Are you talking about 60-cycle hum? Or is it more of a hiss? If you have a high gain amp model selected, there will be some noise. Also, do you have the Stomp connected to a computer via USB? If you're connected to an amp at the same time, this can sometimes cause some noise. I guess I need a little more info to say either way.

What sort of commands is the JDxi looking for? Are you trying to start and stop the sequencer?
-
This is like guitar FOMO... The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may have better tone than you...
-
If only a power amp model is required, for example when connecting an external preamp, the Tube Pre amp model can be used, with its tone controls at default. "If you only need power amp modeling, for example when using an external pre-amp through the Axe-Fx, use the Tube Pre model. It uses the Vintage tonestack which is flat when the tone controls are at noon." original article here: http://wiki.fractalaudio.com/axefx2/index.php?title=Amp_block#Preamp_and_power_amp_sections_can_not_be_split ---------------------------------------------- the following short and interesting article explains in a quite easy manner why oversampling is needed in amp sims: http://www.earlevel.com/main/2017/05/26/guitar-amp-simulation/ That makes sense, and I think the whole oversampling thing would come into play for Line 6 as well. Ben Adrian gave a different explanation as to why they don't have the power amps modeled separately in this post: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/23845504/
-
I don’t think two people playing through the same exact rig will necessarily have the same tone. Being a fretted, stringed instrument, there are a lot of tonal variations that come from the way a particular player frets the notes, strikes the strings, holds the pick, etc. It can make quite a difference, really.

Any Wireless System for Variax VDI-Out?
phil_m replied to RonSom1976's topic in Relay Digital Wireless
Take a look at this thread to get an idea of the challenges around a wireless VDI system: https://line6.com/support/topic/19503-question-for-the-forum-about-wireless-variax/ -
The PODxt and XT Live allowed you to overwrite the default amp/cab settings. I'm pretty sure those were the only PODs that had it. I believe you could do it on the Vetta as well.
-
That may be a Windows thing... I'm not sure. I swap between audio devices all the time with my Windows 10 machine, and I never have any issues. I hardly ever actually shut off/restart that machine.
-
Which mode do you have the HX Effects tuner set to? Have you tried the strobe mode? I'm not sure what you're meaning by "3 cable method". Do you just want to put the HX Effects in your amp's effects loop?
-
The HX Effects is only more limited as a MIDI controller than the Helix, other than the fact that it simply has fewer footswitches. The Command Center functionality is pretty much identical.
-
There's a $200 difference between the Control and HX Effects, not $100... But, anyway, yes, you could control the Rack with the HX Effects, but it would require quite a bit of dedication to get everything programmed. With the Control everything is automatic, plus, you still have the capacitive touch functionality for assigning blocks in the Rack to footswitches. I get that you get the extra DSP with the Effects, but, really, the DSP limit has almost never been an issue for me with the Helix. I mean, MIDI is great, and I personally do a lot with it, but if you've not used it a lot before, I don't know if this would be a good way to start. The fact is you'd have to program every single control point using the HX Effects as controller. It could become very tedious, very quickly.
