  1. Only the Helix, LT and Rack come with the USB stick from what I recall. I don’t believe the Stomp and HX Effects do...
  2. The DMM is one of the classic Edge delays, but it’s not the only one. He used it for the early U2 albums, and then moved onto the Korg SDD-3000, which allowed him to get much longer delay times. So if you hear him using a longer delay time, it’s not the DMM. If you want a BBD style delay with a longer max time on the Helix, try the Adriatic Delay.
  3. You just download and install the Native 1.71 installation package. The downloads link is working for me... It sounds like perhaps there was an issue communicating with the Line 6 server in your previous attempt. They may have been updating something. I'd try it once more.
  4. This may be a dumb question, but why do you even need the M13? Everything it can do, the HX Effects can do (even better, arguably).
  5. Yep... you can definitely do that. Here's proof: With this setup, the footswitch LED is lit when at 100% B and dim when 100% A. You could reverse it if you want.
  6. Yes, that's exactly it. Line 6 is offering something a bit more turnkey, which might be a bit more attractive to some customers. I also think that there are people who would simply feel more comfortable buying through Line 6, well, because they've heard of Line 6 and they haven't necessarily heard of Ownhammer or 3 Sigma. I think most people who post on message boards and forums tend are more educated about all this stuff than the average user. The average user is probably just looking for the easiest experience possible.
  7. Global Settings>Preferences, pages 2 and 3, Tip Polarity and Ring Polarity.
  8. You can indeed assign it to a footswitch. You can't assign the block itself to be bypassed by a footswitch, but you can assign the "Route to" parameter in the split block to be controlled by a footswitch. It doesn't seem like you quite gave it a fair shake from my perspective, but of course, that's completely up to you...
  9. In a way, yes, and I understand why it seems weird. I think it has to do with two things. It help these companies in the sense that they probably get way more exposure on the Line 6 site than they get on their own. Indeed, I still see many people asking, "what is an IR, anyway?" on Facebook. So it just means that one person can't buy them and share them freely. The other thing is it's a way for Line 6 to limit its liability since it's distributing third-party material now. Beyond that, Ownhammer probably doesn't have a good way to implement DRM on its own, but given that Line 6 does, they probably figure they'll give it a shot.
  10. If you buy the Line 6 Marketplace, you can only load them via HX Edit while being signed into your Line 6 account. The ones you buy directly from Ownhammer are DRM-free.
  11. I'm not sure why the OP was having trouble assigning the A/B split to a footswitch. People have been doing that ever since the Helix came out, and I've not heard of reports of problems with it. If you have those sorts of controllers set up and are using snapshots, sometimes the states can get mixed up. The other way to do this is to not mess with controlling the Split block, but rather just assign the amp blocks themselves to by bypassed by the same footswitch and have the toggled opposite each other. Or you could assign the Channel Volume parameter in the amp blocks to an expression pedal and fade between them. There's literally half a dozen ways to do this sort of thing.
  12. You can use the Action and Page > buttons as indicated above, or you can assign the tap/tuner function to FS4 or FS5 in the Global Settings menu. You can also access the tuner via MIDI if you want.
  13. I really do think less is more when it comes to the Variax acoustic models. I may put a little compression or EQ on them, but they sound fine on their own without any post-processing, really. I recorded this awhile ago, and I didn't have any block on in the Helix: The main thing is the Variax acoustic models aren't going to sound like a typical acoustic/electric with a piezo pickup under the saddle and a preamp system. Even the best acoustic preamp systems have a piezo quack element that's inherent in the sound, and many acoustic players are simply used to hearing that come through. Sometimes they prefer to have some because it can cut through and project better. So it may just take getting used to what the Variax acoustics sound like.
  14. This about the least expensive dual switch I've found:http://saturnworkspedals.com/product/amp-device-switches/ Select "Momentary Double Switch Normally Open Soft Touch TRS" from the pulldown. It's $27 plus $2 shipping (to the US).
  15. Either one will work. You can change the polarity in the Global Settings menu to accommodate either. At the normal polarity, it's set up to work with normally-open switches.
  16. The Panner block should work... I haven't used that particular block in a while, but having it hard panned to one side or the other should effectively mute the other side.
  17. Huh? You have to hit the blue box over on the lower right hand corner that says "Get Download". That will take you to the download page where you'll see the EULA, click, "Accept and Download", and it should start downloading automatically. But just in case, the link for the Windows 7 download is here: https://line6.com/getrelease?rid=8717&uid=416571
  18. Just put HX Edit in the second pulldown menu and leave the first one blank.
  19. You can't export the .hir files as wav files. The .hir files are copy-protected the Marketplace DRM scheme. That's why you have be signed into your Line 6 account to load them. The licenses for them are tied to your account, and without the license you can't load them.
  20. Well, you can... The returns aren't balanced, so just be aware that going from a balanced plug to an unbalanced jack will result in an approximately 3dB drop. You could compensate for that by increasing the level at the return.
  21. You have to have the mix parameter set up to be controlled by a Snapshot Controller. Push and turn the knob under the parameter, and brackets should appear around it. Then you can set a specific value for each snapshot.
  22. You can’t assign presets to footswitches in Stomp Mode, if that’s what you’re asking. But you change the footswitch mode to Preset Mode. Hit the Page < and > to scroll through the various footswitch modes.
  23. If you bought the IRS from the Line 6 Marketplace, you need to have at least firmware 2.70 installed for them to work. Make sure you have HX Edit closed while running Updater, otherwise Updater won’t see your device.
  24. Are you signed into your account on HX Edit? On the lower right hand corner of the HX Edit window, you'll see "My Account". Click it and hit sign in, and you'll be asked to enter your Line6.com login info.
  25. Which device are you talking about with this setup? If you're talking about the Helix, LT or Rack, it would be pretty simple, as you have a lot of blocks to work with, and the easiest way to set up the 7CM would be to use separate paths for both amps.
