One other troubleshooting thing you might want to try is to go to a blank preset and see what your guitar sounds like. Ideally, put the Helix between your guitar and an amp. Make sure the input pad is off, the 1/4" outs are set to instrument level, turn the master volume knob all the way up, and make sure the Global EQ is bypassed. This will give you unity gain. If the input is doing something weird to your signal because of a hardware issue, you would be able to hear it this way.

Are you plugged into the Guitar In? Have you tried messing with the Input Z parameter to see if that makes any difference? Its default setting is Auto, so in most cases, that means the input impedance is usually 1 MOhm, but there are some instances where it could be lower. But this setting is saved preset to preset, not globally, so it shouldn't be across the board. I don't know... Honestly, I don't recall anyone saying the Helix sounded muddy out of the gate. I've more often heard the opposite complaint - that things sound too bright or harsh. Although, now that I'm thinking about this, I do remember one guy over on TGP who was had a similar complaint about his LT - it was muddy, etc. In his case, it turned out to be a bad guitar cable causing problems.

Any plans for Ampeg profiles for Amplifi (TT)?
phil_m replied to adfhgdshdgh's topic in Line 6 Lounge
The AMPLIFi line is built on the POD Farm/PODxt modeling platform. They haven’t created new models for that platform in over a decade, and I feel confident in saying they won’t in the future. -
While you can't control the BPM with an expression pedal, you can control any other parameter you have synced with the tempo with an expression pedal.

You select whether you want to use a 1024 or 2048 sample IR from that screen by clicking on one or the other. Then in the edit portion of the screen, just click on the IR block. There you'll be able to select what IR file you want to use by using the first parameter slider.

I don't have a photo, but the M5 is about 5.75 inches wide, and the Stomp is 7 inches wide.

Yes, there was a software upgrade last week that seems to have stabilized things finally...

It's basically a 1-step process. In HX Edit, go to File>Create Backup and follow the prompts... That will backup the Presets, IRs (if you're using any), and the Global Settings.
-
Double-check that you're running the newest version of HX Edit. Every time I've seen this mentioned here, it's been because the person was using the wrong version of HX Edit. Note that on the HX Edit display, the number at the bottom represent the firmware version of the Helix, not the HX Edit version.

You can change the note value on a snapshot per snapshot basis, but you can't change from a note value to a millisecond value.

It's wired differently, so no, it won't. If you contact Mission, though, I suspect they could modify the Carbon pedal for you.

Moderating it is a real pain in the butt from what I've been told... So, yeah, it's just kind of the mess it is right now. Line 6 does actively read it, though.

Using both Outputs on the G55 simultaniously?
phil_m replied to deXta88's topic in Relay Digital Wireless
Yes, of course... That's what they're there for. -
Instead of a Spider V? I mean, the Kemper is like at least 4 times as more expensive than the Spider V, depending on the particular model of Spider V you're talking about...

Here are a couple: (I think the explanation for this one is confusing) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Snapshots-2-0-Overlays!/830999-23508#idea-tab-comments Here's one that sounds pretty the same as yours: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Snapshots-2-0-Overlays!/830999-23508#idea-tab-comments Another one: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Unaffected-blocks-in-snapshots/836513-23508#idea-tab-comments Yet, another one: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Disable-Snapshots-for-Individual-FX-Blocks/916071-23508#idea-tab-comments This time, with feeling! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Snapshot-INDEPENDENT-effect/836872-23508#idea-tab-comments One more: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Exclude-specific-effects-blocks-from-Snapshots/893972-23508#idea-tab-details There may be more... I got tired of scrolling.

I think there is an existing IdeaScale entry about this somewhere, as I remember someone bringing it up before. I see the usefulness, as I think there are times I could definitely use it. My only worry is that it might make the whole concept of snapshots a little more confusing for people, and I could see it tripping people up... I think there's a danger in having a lot of different parameters that affect things in ways that aren't entirely transparent. I think that's especially true when you're talking about people using third party presets and such.

Why does this company does not stand up to their faults?
phil_m replied to dkrawk's topic in Relay Digital Wireless
The company name that dare not be spoken... :-) Actually, historically, Line 6 has been very good about supporting products that have repeatable failure modes. On the Helix LT, there were a few batches that were produced with a faulty expression pedal, leaving the housing around the pedal to shear and break. Line 6 issued a lifetime replacement warranty for all of the units, meaning that even if the pedal fails after the unit is out of warranty, they'll fix it. There have been several instances of that. The fact is, though, that just because your product broke in a certain way and you can find a handful of other people online describing the same thing, it doesn't mean that it's something effects a large percentage of the total... Without knowing sales numbers and comparing that to the total number of failures, there's no way to know. Anyway, open up a support ticket, regardless of all that. That is going to be way more productive than simply complaining here. -
You have to set the rate, delay time, etc. for the time-based effects you want synced to the MIDI clock to a note value. Push down on the knob for the parameter and you'll see the value change to a note value and turning the knob gives you a variety of note divisions to choose from.

It sounds like you're inadvertently touching the footswitches. The footswitches are touch capacitive and touching them does different depending on the mode the Helix is in. In Stomp Mode, if you touch a footswitch with an effect assigned to it, the edit screen will jump to that block. If you touch the tap tempo footswitch, you bring up the tempo screen. Touching the footswitches in Snapshot Mode can do a variety of things depending on the order to touch them... It's all explained in the manual.
-
On the Helix, LT and Rack, I've been told it's because of the anti-pop circuitry on the XLR outs. I was actually told that the TRS outs on the Stomp were unaffected by phantom power, but I've never tested it myself.

What you're talking about is known as the 7 cable method, and yes, the Helix can do it. You're sketch isn't quite correct, though. This is from the HX Effects manual, but it be the same sort of connections for the Helix (there was an error in the labels on the second amp, that I corrected here):

The red light indicates clipping at the converter. It won’t damage anything. It just means you’re getting close to clipping and you would keep on making the input signal louder, you’ll start hearing digital clipping, which doesn’t sound good at all. I guess I shouldn’t say it’s totally impossible to damage the speaker, as a prolonged clipped signal could possibly damage the speaker, but it seems like a relatively low risk thing to me. As far as getting the loudest signal to the PC; if you have a PC+, you need to make sure you have the preset volume in the PC+ set high enough. For some reason, the default preset levels all are pretty low. You can add up to 30dB or so in some of the presets.
