    Auto Swell

You can change the speed at which it comes by adjusting the Ramp parameter. It's a Legacy effect, so I don't think they'll be changing that algorithm. I've never really had an issue with it coming in too soon. I've been using it since the DL4 days.
  2. The Helix XLR outs won't be damaged by phantom power, but phantom power can attenuate their output and/or make them sound bad. This is because of the anti-pop circuitry on those outputs. Apparently the Powercab XLR outs don't have this anti-pop feature. There's probably no reason to use a line isolator with the PC.

    Variax power.

Have you tried sticking you foot in the VDI port?

    Variax power.

No Line 6 processor has ever powered the Variax this way... They have the XPS power kit as mentioned above, and you could use that with the Helix if you want, but it seems a little silly. If you're going to use a cable to connect to the Helix, why wouldn't you just use the VDI cable? That way you get power and control over one cable. There are potential problems in having a powered TRS jack as the input for the Helix. The big one is it risks damaging other equipment if someone uses a TRS cable instead of a regular instrument cable for some reason.
  6. Have you opened up a support ticket about this issue? Line 6 can only help you with issues they know about. The forums aren't support forums, so there's no guarantee that anyone from Line 6 has seen your post (they probably haven't. Just because your Helix is showing a similar symptom as someone else, it doesn't mean it's caused by the same issue. https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  7. I'm thinking it's more likely that the USB port on the UX1 is damaged, not the USB ports on your Macbook.

    Variax power.

I'm not sure where you're getting this information, but it isn't correct. The Helix will most definitely power the Variax over the VDI connection. VDI isn't just an ethernet cable. It uses ethercon connectors, and those are much, much more robust than a standard RJ45 connection. People have been using them live with Variax guitars for years now. There's no reason to worry about it.
  9. The G10 transmitter uses the ring connection to charge the battery when plugged into the receiver base. Some acoustic guitar preamp systems use their ring connection for phantom power, so I think that causes a nuisance current on the ring connection that's coming back through the common ground connection, and that's being picked up as noise. The other system you're talking about is probably not using a TRS plug. Every design is about compromises at some point. Line 6 probably just thought that most people would be using the G10 with electric guitars and most electric guitars don't have a TRS jack.
  10. The hum with your acoustic is related to how the ring connection on the TRS plug on the G10 transmitter is wired.
  11. I'm sorry you're having problems with your unit. I don't always understand why some people have them and others don't. I have been using my original G10 live for over three years now, and I've been using my G10S since January of this year. I am being honest when I say I've never had any issue with dropouts with either unit, like ever. That's using it for rehearsals, at large and small clubs, at festivals, at churches, etc. So it really puzzles me. As far as using it in conjunction with other wireless devices, one example I can give of it working fine is a large party I played at the Fillmore Philly this past Spring. It was a big party type of event, and there were like half a dozen or so guitarists that rotated in and out, and there were time when four or more of us were playing. There were multiple wireless systems on stage, and I had no issue with the G10S... It's just always worked for me wherever I've used it. I don't really know what else to say.
  12. It's just a regular USB 2.0 cable - nothing special about it. If you've tried multiple cables with no luck, I'd suspect something might be wrong with the USB jack.
  13. Well, they'll get the app updated eventually if that's necessary. They've always supported things on the software side well beyond the time the firmware updates have stopped. They're still updating drivers for the PODxt...
  14. There was a new parameter added for each block in the 2.80 firmware called Snapshot Bypass. Is this the HX Effects or the HX Stomp? On the HX Effects, select the block in question, hit the ACTION button and then make sure the footswitch that says Snapshot Bypass is lit. On the Stomp, from Edit view, select a processing block, press ACTION, press PAGE >, and set Knob 3 (Snapshot Bypass) to "Off" to disable snapshot control of that block's bypass state.
  15. Well, eventually active support for the Helix (active in the sense of firmware updates) will end, too. It's inevitable with the sorts of products. I mean, you say it put you off on buying another Line 6 product, but who of Line 6's competitors isn't in the exact same situation? The Fractal AX8, for instance, was supported for less than three years and then discontinued with no further updates expected. But not having updates doesn't mean the product becomes unusable. My HD500 still works fine, and I bought that in 2010. As far as bugs, it's always a somewhat tricky situation. Every firmware is going to have some bugs. It's just a matter of the severity. I do think if there were something of a showstopper bug, Line 6 would deal with that. I'm not aware of anything like that with the Firehawk at the moment.
  16. I think you have it backwards. The volume knob will always control the headphone volume. It can be set so that it doesn't affect the main outs, though.
  17. The Helix is Line 6's flagship line of products, so, yeah, it's going to get the lion's share of continued development resources. The Firehawk FX is kind of a "best of" product combining elements of POD Farm with the HD series, both of which are mature product lines at this point. It's still a good deal for the money, imo, but I don't think anyone should expect more updates at this point.

    Looper preset

What sort of problem are you having exactly? You should just be able to plop the block in. You have to assign the block to a footswitch in Stomp Mode in order to access the looper then (unless you're using a MIDI controller).
  19. Yeah, well, I actually think Line 6 is eating as much of the tariffs as they can, but at some point it becomes untenable. This last found was 15%, but the $100 increase is like 6.2% for the Floor and 9% for the LT. Companies don’t like raising prices. I’m sure they understand the potential for backlash.
  20. They went up again... There are new tariffs that took effect in September.
  21. Not directly... It doesn't have a tap tempo output like that. It can send MIDI clock, and there are devices that can convert MIDI clock to a tap tempo signal (like this: https://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/micro-clock-tap-tempo-controller )
  22. There is a lifetime replacement warranty for this particular issue. As stated above, open a ticket, and Line 6 will send you a replacement, even if you bought it used.
  23. LEDs like being cold a whole lot more than they like being too hot...
