I don’t think Line 6 would say any bug is “not a problem”. I think it’s a matter of doing triage-type assessments as to which things are the most important and where they should focus. Sometimes it seems users uncover deep bugs that are hard to replicate, and I think those are always the most frustrating things for development teams. So the best thing to do is simply what you’re doing - try to give the service guys as much information as possible so they can pass it to the developers. Hopefully they’ll be able to get to the bottom of it.

May I ask why you want to revert to an earlier version?

Change View (Preset/Snapshot) via midi or single button
phil_m replied to Retro-Rick's topic in Helix
Huh? Re-read what I wrote again... If you set Preset Mode to be 8 Snapshots, you don't have to step on the Bank Up and Bank Down switches to go back and forth between Stomp and Snapshot Mode. You just have to step on the Mode footswitch. To get into Preset Mode to change presets you just hit the Bank Up or Bank Down footswitch (just either one, not both at the same time). With this setup, you never have to simultaneously hit those two footswitches. -
Do you have the String Volume parameters assigned to the Snapshot Controller?

Change View (Preset/Snapshot) via midi or single button
phil_m replied to Retro-Rick's topic in Helix
You can change Preset Mode to essentially be Snapshot Mode by going to Global Settings>Footswitches>Knob 2, "Preset Mode Switches" and selecting 8 Snapshot. Then you can switch between Snapshot Mode and Stomp Mode by simply hitting the Mode footswitch. To get into Preset Mode, you just hit the Bank Up or Bank Down switch, and you can scroll through the banks. Once you select a preset, it takes you back into the mode you were in before. -
It's probably not a bug that the vast majority of users would ever experience if it only shows up after having the same preset loaded for three hours... Not saying it isn't a bug, but not sure I'd consider it that serious, all things considered. Just switch to a different preset and back before your show, and you should be good to go.

By default, snapshots recall the bypass state of every block in the preset along with whatever parameter values you have assigned to controllers. There was a feature added in the 2.80 update called "Snapshot Bypass". It's a parameter that you set for every block. It's set to On by default. It determines whether or not a block's bypass state will be recalled by snapshots. It sounds like for those four effect you're talking about, you'd want to have that set to Off. To get to it on the unit, hit the Action button, and you'll see the Snapshot Bypass parameter. This, of course, also means those blocks won't be affected by your snapshot selection at all (unless you have some of their parameters tied to controllers.).

I use Windows 10, and nothing regarding the drag and drop functionality has changed for me with 2.82. I literally use those functions all the time. I suspect that there is something else going on aside from the update.

HX Native constantly crashing /w active firewall
phil_m replied to SaschaFranck's topic in Helix Native
Are you talking about the trial version? Yes, it requires an active internet connection the whole time you're using it. -
Having polyphonic pitch shifting would smooth out those artifacts/warbles/glitches, whatever you want to call them, so it would sound more natural. In this song, though, the glitches are kind of integral to the effect, so having the effect be polyphonic would actually work against trying to recreate this sound.

Reaper and Helix - How to sync clock?
phil_m replied to Amarasco's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Those are classic buffer underrun sounds. You can increase the buffer size in the Audio Device menu in Reaper. I think the default may be 256 or 512. You can try setting it higher. If you're not direct monitoring, it doesn't matter all that much. The other thing to do is check your system for conflicts that could be causing issues. Often times things like network adapters or Bluetooth adapters can cause issues. This program will tell what's causing problems: https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon -

That would typically be more related to your buffer settings rather than sample rate settings. -
4CM with HX effects bypassing amp footswitch (darkglass VM500)
phil_m replied to cavemanpaul's topic in Helix
I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm saying you're trying to control the on-board distortion from the HX Effects... I'm saying it sounds you have things hooked up incorrectly. Most likely you're bypassing the preamp on the VM500 which is why the channel selection isn't having any effect.- 5 replies

4CM with HX effects bypassing amp footswitch (darkglass VM500)
phil_m replied to cavemanpaul's topic in Helix
It sounds like you're trying to hook the VM500 up to the HX Effects via the 4CM but you don't have the connections correct. You wouldn't want to connect the two loops together. You'd want some of the HX's blocks before the VM500 and some in its loop. To do that, you'd make the follow connections (--> = a cable) Guitar--> HX Effects Input HX Effects FX Send --> VM500 input VM500 FX Send --> HX Effects FX Return HX Effects Output --> VM500 FX Return Any effects you have before the FX Loop block in the HX Effects will be in front of the VM500. Any you have after the FX Loop block will be in the VM500's loop.- 5 replies

Note that you can only run two IRs if both of them are 1024 sample blocks. You can't load two 2048 blocks.
-
I agree with the above. Try the Pitch Wham model. The original recording is done with a Whammy set to an octave up, and the signature warble is because of the Whammy not perfectly tracking (the newer Whammy V model is polyphonic, but that's beside the point).

Reaper and Helix - How to sync clock?

What kind of noises are you talking about, exactly? -
How close are the lighting dongles to the G50 receivers?

Are you sure that the inputs and outputs are set to instrument level? There really shouldn't be a level increase even in DSP Bypass mode.
-
This may be a dumb question, but are you using the Mark IV model here? Have you tried adjusting the sag setting in the model? And rather than A/B-ing against the sound you're hearing from your monitors, it seems to me that you should be A/B-ing against the real preamp and the real cab. By far, the number of people having the opposite issue as you are is way more common (people like the sound of going into an actual power amp and cab but have more trouble with a direct setup). So I guess I'm just finding the whole thing a little puzzling.

That would cause a gap, yes...

Are you using the full amp model or the preamp model when going into the Mesa's effects return? The preamp might give you a tighter response.
-
It sounds to me like you might be confusing snapshots and presets, especially if you're talking about copying and pasting different blocks.
-
Are you comparing plugging straight into your amp versus plugging into the HX Effects and then going to your amp? Because the HX Effects has a buffered output, there could be some difference in tonality between those two situations even with all the blocks bypassed or a blank preset in the HX Effects. It's basically because of what Brian Wampler describes here:

I've been using HX Edit 2.82 for quite a long time now and haven't really had any issues, so I don't think there's really any reason to avoid it. Don't take this the wrong way, but are you positive you're running HX Edit 2.82? The version number on the bottom of the screen refers to the hardware firmware version, not the software version. You to look at Help>About to see that. Did you do a factory reset after installing your firmware update? And when you talk about bringing patches in, did you restore from a backup or did you import individual patches/setlists?
