  1. I seriously doubt that Line 6 are “milking it”. They have added stacks of additional features, amps and fx since the Helix was first released - all at no extra cost to owners. If they had waited until they had created and tested all those extra features before Helix was put on the market, we would all still be waiting. Things “do get developed gradually over time” - just be happy with what you have. After all, if every type of reverb was available right from the off, you might not have had so much fun creating your very own version of the “drip” which has turned into something like a flood on here. ;-)
  2. Helix Native has it’s own Forum area. This really should be posted there, where anyone seeking to sell, will be able to see it. https://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/
  3. Hi Billabong, Guess it can be a bit confusing if you’re not familiar with multi tap delays, but they are exactly what the name implies and they were a big thing in the ‘80s. To understand how they work, here’s a quick example for a 4 tap delay. Start out by setting a maximum time, feedback and mix - let’s say 1000ms (1sec) @ 35% mix 30% So far it’s like setting a standard delay, but the taps and scale usually throw people. Select Tap 1 Scale 80% Pan Right 100 this will give you an additional delay to the original coming in at 800ms (80% of 1sec) on the right Select Tap 2 Scale 60% Pan Left 100 this will give you an additional delay to the original coming in at 600ms on the left Select Tap 3 Scale 40% Pan Right 50 this will give you an additional delay to the original coming in at 400ms towards the right Select Tap 4 Scale 20% Pan Left 25 this will give you an additional delay to the original coming in at 200ms a little to the left. Simply remember that whatever you enter for the main delay time is the staring point and all the taps are set as percentages of that time. Adjust the Pan, Feedback and Mix to whatever floats your boat, but essentially that’s what it is. It’s all down to arithmetic for the other notes like dotted eighth - you need to work those out. There is probably a listing on the inter webs for how the timings are divided up for various BPM. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. If you want to get an idea of what you can achieve for “those insane level high gain distortion sound”, all you need to do is check through some YouTube videos. There enough of them out there - here’s a random choice of a high gain tone from scratch! Also, “Oh and I can't find information” - you could have look at the Helix Owner’s Manual for the information you cannot find! https://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c975d5787c3e351aa0/application/pdf/Helix 2.0 Owners Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Always a good thing to do a little research first. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. You’re wasting you time with this idiot, but you are right. If you check previous posts it seems that you have responded a few times to this total nonsense (trolling?). For the past couple of years it has been constant negative attitude, but for some weird reason the posts keep on coming! Strangely - must still be a Helix owner/user. A couple of examples:
  6. Mmm... well - USER ERROR. I will only post the things that were in the release notes in RED tex! IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. IMPORTANT! Note the location where you've saved the backup. From the File pull-down menu, click "Restore from backup..." A dialog appears. Click "Restore Backup" and then "Yes." Guess that must mean that they are very important! Have another lollipop because it's the sort of thing that you only ever want to do once!
  7. Well, a Helix LT is sonically light years away from the old POD modellers. What makes you think it would be anything less? Plus, as noted in the post from “DunedinDragon”, above, the Helix can do whatever you want it to do, if you know how to do it! Five years back, when the Helix first landed, there were many potential users asking things like: “Yeah, but can it Djent?” Don’t see many questions like that nowadays, so I guess they must be happy djent bunnies.
  8. In that case it may be better to consider buying Helix Native - all the identical sounds of Helix hardware available and a GUI with the look and feel of HX Edit. :-)
  9. Have a look here: https://helixhelp.com/models/ Some of these have links to the user original manual and/or more info about whatever effect model was based on.
  10. Ah, now it starts to make a little more sense, but you didn't mention any of that stuff in the original post. That's what made it seem very strange to me that you wanted to be able to edit Helix without having the driver to communicate with it. I use a Mac and the analogue link is not an issue for me because, apart from the guitar signal in and the speaker audio out, everything stays in the digital world. Try the Line 6 driver and don't worry so much.
  11. And I really don’t understand why you would even think it should be possible? HX Edit software is simply a remote control system that communicates with the brain inside the hardware. It enables users to modify set lists and presets without having to crawl around on the floor. The drivers need to be there to hook up over USB. Without being able to listen to the audio signal you would achieve absolutely nothing and probably totally screw up the patches- unless you are psychic! If you think that it would be easy to “make a driver just for the control part of the Helix without the audio.” I think you are mistaken. There has been much discussion of Line 6 drivers and RTL recently on these forums, which would be more likely to take priority over your strange idea of one with “no audio”, because it would serve no purpose whatsoever. As it is - if you don’t want to hear the audio, simply turn down the volume. Furthermore, in your OP, you say: - “I like to use HX Edit to edit patches. But I never use the asio from the Helix... ”. Uh? Well, keep on doing what you were doing. If not, just install the necessary drivers and enjoy your new studio rig. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, The backup you made should have a time/date stamp on it. Navigate to the folder that you saved it to and then reload. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. For sure, and if bro’ “firehawkkwah” is really keen on constant change and new hardware models he should have taken the Fractal route. They change rack boxes more often than my t-shirts. Phew!
  14. No one knows! Therefore, how can you say you will wait a year, but not three. You are dealing with an unknown. What exactly is it are you waiting for? What if the prices of a new version of Helix are 3 times what you can afford - waste of time. There is always something bigger and better further down the road, or the Earth could be destroyed by a passing Vogon Constructor Ship to make way for a new Intergalactic highway.
  15. Hi, First thing is, if you want to do this, avoid the idea of streaming audio from “Sploshify” (sic). All you have to do is load the required audio file (aiff, was, MP3) of your backing track or whatever it is into your DAW. Then using your Helix as the Computer interface (soundcard) - your treated guitar signal will come in on USB 1&2 and the entire backing and guitar is sent out on USB 1&2. You could also set another mono track to record from USB 7 that will be a dry version of the guitar that you can then re-amp if you wish. That is the “bare bones” basics - try it and see how you get on.
  16. Thanks, it’s good to know you are up and running. After you clarified that your new Mac had a clean install of everything and HXN failed right out of the gate, then my next suggestion would have been turn of any “blockers”, Little Snitch etc. Once it has phoned home for full verification you should not see the "Your license never expires, etc." window again. You did a good job of tracking it down and posting here may help other users. Thanks again and have fun.
  17. Let me share this information with you. You seem to be making a big fuss about this as you have already posted this a couple of days back: Plus, various contributors have already stated that it does not matter when your Helix LT was manufactured, or how long it has been on a shelf in a distribution warehouse. The thing that matters is the date of purchase - this is when your warranty period begins. I refer you to the post by “codamedia”, in this thread (below) from December 2018, about warranty. ”codamedia” has also replied in this thread about your major “tour”, but must have forgotten about the earlier “Warranty” comment. I hope this helps and finally makes sense.
  18. Hi, Well, you have got into a state haven't you? I can understand your "panic", but what you are stating isn't very clear. To clarify; You previously had a full working version on your old 2011 MBP and you now have a newer MacBook Pro running Mojave, but HX Native fails to run correctly, as shown in the screen grab? When you swapped over to the new MBP has it ever worked correctly and now simply stopped or it has never worked on the new machine? When you swapped over to the new Mac did you do it by "migrating" from the previous hardware, or was it a complete fresh start. Did you de-authourise your old computer and then authorise the new one? Have you tried a full uninstall and re-install of Helix Native? did you go to your Line 6 Account page a verify that computer is actually in the Authorised Devices list and Native is listed on the Activations page. I ask this stuff, just so we know what you have and have not tried to resolve this, because once you have Native up and running you don't ever see the "Your license never expires, etc." window. Something has glitched!
  19. Hi, Lots of people come here in sheer panic usually stating things like “update bricked my Helix!” and such like. Therefore please note that when asking for assistance from the forum users, it’s a really big help to know details of your computer operating system, etc. Anyhow, as your issue is slightly different, it will be easier for me to point you to where you need to go. Follow this link and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER, ESPECIALLY ANY THING IN RED TEXT. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. https://line6.com/software/index.html
  21. Hi Tim. You have just encountered “The Gatekeeper” which Apple use as protection against nasty software. It crops up on here occasionally, but don’t worry you can over ride the settings. Full details here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 Good Luck.
  22. Yeah, I'm also a long time user of Mac and Logic, but decided to leave the update to Catalina as when it first came out there were some "issues". I know that lots of people are using it without problems, but I will stay "as is" until I really do need to change. The same thing for LPX 10.5.x, I was worried that it may bring the whole house of cards tumbling down and decided to stand back from updating for a while. As for why this should be happening in Reaper and JamKazam, I have no idea. I don't use JamKazam although I do have Reaper for occasionally checking stuff out, but as you know, it all seems to function fine in earlier versions of OSX. At least, you have contacted CS and raised a ticket, so now they will be aware of the situation and hopefully come up with a solution pretty quick. Until then may be you could revert back to an earlier version of Logic that does work. Good luck and please keep us advised as to the progress.
  23. Hi, A little clarification may help me understand this (old and feeble minded) You mention your cousin and the POD HD, which doesn’t squeal. Question: Do you mean when the POD HD is connected to your Blackstar? (If yes, then it is possibly the cable and connection between the LT and Amp) Also, when your Helix LT is connected to the portable speaker, there is no squeal - correct? (if yes, I would suspect that this is more to do with the Blackstar than the LT.) If you can get access to another amplifier, and/or powered speaker, then you could eliminate something from this scenario.
  24. Hi, Welcome to a brand new Helix user and FYI - this is usually the place to ask for assistance from other users. Line 6 staff do not usually monitor these forums, so a request for anything to do with Helix firmware needs to be posted to IdeaScale for consideration. Other users can then vote for the idea if they like it. Best to check an see if anyone else has made a similar request or you may end up splitting the vote. Here’s a link: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/ideas/top/campaign-filter/byids/campaigns/51424/stage/unspecified?sortBy=cumulative.votes Also, at the top of this forum is a “sticky thread” where you can let others know you have submitted a request on IdeaScale. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. As noted by “soundog” in the post above - this is not an issue with the fully licensed version. I use Logic Pro X daily without any problem. Oh, yeah, the amps and fx are exactly the same as the hardware Helix (minus the foot switches obviously).
