I've just re-introduced my Variax into my Rig and this is an incredibly useful detailed and well explained resource. My sincere thanks for taking the time to put this down for our benefit. It is very generous and inspiring for me to get some of my 30 plus years of live and recording experience down to help other people outHave a virtual beer from me (or whatever your virtual tipple of choice is)

You are plugging the ext into the foot switch socket in the back of the egnater with a TRS cable?
-
Its a simple question Are the output jacks on the Helix TRS or not?
-
I've done some experiments with the pitch set to octaves and a rotary sim and it's getting there although at the moment I have the B9 patched into one of the loops The big advantage is the ability to mix it with my guitar signal for those essential deep purple tracks ;)

Bit frustrating for those of us who can't connect the Helix to our Daw without digital noise
-
I take a load of top end off in the global EQ otherwise I find it all to be a bit 'clangy' Which is why I'm a bit irked that Global EQ doesn't apply to the digital output (using a definition of Global I'm not familiar with) But by taking out a lump of 2-4K I get a more natural sound (to me) Here is an example in a writing demo https://soundcloud.com/user2646262/prayprayvox

I hate to sound like a broken record (see my logic complaints) but it does sound to me like the Helix has an internal clock issue
-
I have trouble getting them to acknowledge its actually a problem File a ticket I keep hearing At least my last bug in the hanging unit while hands free editing has been verified and accepted I feel like I'm doing a lot of the legwork here At least back in the 01Xray days Yamaha took me seriously !

I could do without the branding ... I guess I can console myself that muggers would go for the 5K worth of guitars in my double case before they got to the 1K pedal bag :)
-
Support reply it's a possible issue with sample lock in Logic but can I try on another computer to make sure it is a Helix issue I don't have anything else available just now. however every other audio interface works fine so I don't think this is solely an Apple issue
-
See I was thinking the same thing But also people using 1.1 cables without realising it
-
I'm afraid we'll have to differ I had it for less than 3 days when I discovered the two bugs I have reported None of which have any fixes that I know of and 1 of which could have ended up doing a reboot onstage I understand what you are saying. With complexity there are sacrifices and it will vary from person to person For me I maintain I don't think it is ready yet
-
The question was is it stable Phil I can't use it as an audio interface with my MacBook and certain editing scenarios cause it to lock up So I would say no I have raised good tickets for both of these but that wasn't the question

Or a Mackie big knob (or Samson cue mix)

Here is an example this is after a minute or so Notice how re-setting the driver re-syncs I know my buffer is at 128 it's the same st any setting
-
Also path 2 has slightly more horsepower for some reason (maybe the base os runs on dsp 0) Once you work out how to join the two paths then you have all the dsp you need
-
Ralph The backpack straps are zipped away so you only have to use them if you want to There is a handle too I probably wouldn't use it as a backpack as I've already got 2 guitars in a mono case on my back already Why Because I need my hands for things like pedalboard and amps
-
I had this at first as well and it caused me a bit of confusion until you adapt what you're doing to the Helix way For a start remember you have the 2nd dsp path so at the moment you are trying to run everything off half the Helixs DSP power and you are asking it to emulate 2 amps and cabs Also using two heads and a dual cab is a more efficient way of doing it Keep experimenting and it will come together.. It's just a different way of thinking More flexible but more complicated

For all the audio problems I'm having with the Helix as an audio interface with the MacBook there Helix app works fine for me It does seem to be sensitive to the USB cable used Have you tried another one?

Thanks I'll try and replicate it tonight It's not a feature I'll use often I was just trying it out. Hopefully its consistent and reproducible (which usually means fixable)
