  1. The one who dies with the most toys WINS!
  2. It sounds like you are using two different physical pedals to control the two VOL blocks. You could optimize your current setup by assigning both VOL blocks to the same physical pedal and configuring their Min/Max values oppositely. When one is at 100% the other is at 0%. That way you achieve a blend of the two inputs, with the pedal at heel position being 100% one input and at toe position being 100% the other. The blend can provide an interesting option that you might want to explore. Or, you could try assigning the Variax Vol knob in the Input block of each path to the Snapshot controller and set it at 10 or 0 as the snapshot requires. Another method might be to assign the Output block (or use Gain blocks?) Level parameter in each path to the snapshot controller. Assign the Level to minus or plus whatever dB as required in each snapshot to suppress the desired path outputs. There may be other methods too. These are just the ones that come immediately to mind.
  3. By default when you connect an external expression pedal (EXP 2) it is assigned to the VOL block. You can remove this assignment, or simply turn the VOL block off (bypass it). See manual pg 29.
  4. No. The POD XT has no wireless or Bluetooth capability, and there is no built in media reader/writer (USB memory stick, SD card, etc.) so there is no data transfer method that does not require a computer.
  5. I understand there will be a series of lawsuits to prevent the release. Dead people designed it and no one was allowed to review it.
  6. Follow the instructions. Start by installing the latest HX Edit package. It includes the compatible drivers and Line 6 Updater program. After installation, run HX Edit. You can update the firmware from there.
  7. I use the POD Go or my Helix Rack interchangeably as the interface; my older non-Line 6 interface device is collecting dust. I find I don’t need to switch interfaces in my Windows 10 system. When the POD Go or Helix is powered on it automatically becomes the computer’s input and output device as well as being recognized as the audio interface by any recording program. When neither is powered on the computer’s internal audio system is used. I leave both devices connected via USB to my computer and also to my studio speakers (using different speaker inputs). I power on the one I want to use for any session; no switching or setup of cables. There is a small and generally unnoticeable improvement in quality using the POD Go or Helix via USB because the signal remains digital throughout, avoiding a D/A and subsequent A/D conversion required to pass through a separate interface.
  8. You’re right - a software/hardware mismatch. The Helix VDI communication is not compatible with older Variax guitars. It may work to some degree but it is not supported. You should use the analog (1/4”) from the guitar to the Helix Guitar input. However I think the original Variax Workbench software (not Workbench HD) should work with your Variax Acoustic 700, allowing you to store alternate tunings in the guitar. You won’t be able to control anything via Helix but you will get the alternate tuning when you manually select an alternate-tuned model in the Variax.
  9. I also own a StageScape mixer and a set of StageSource speakers. They form a wonderfully integrated and great sounding system. If you can pick up a set of used ones that are in good working order at a great price you will be doing yourself a favour. But I agree (and I have no inside information here) that Line 6 is no longer pursuing their own brand of mixer/speaker products. Since Line 6 was bought out by Yamaha it seems that Yamaha is incorporating some StageScape/Source IP and technologies into their own Yamaha brand of similar products.
  10. Refer back to my previous post in this thread. Helix does not officially support any Variax guitars prior to the JTV series. In particular the Variax 500 is not supported and not guaranteed to work in any way with Helix. Having said that, in that post I described some limited success in my experience with a Variax 300. I have not re-tested any of this with more current versions of Helix firmware. The situation may have changed by now and may change at any future time. You should assume that the Variax 500 will not interact in any way with Helix. Any successful interaction cannot be predicted and would be a bonus.
  11. When you purchase a Marketplace product it is immediately associated with your Line 6 account. But you need to visit your account’s Marketplace area to download it. Have you done this? To get to your account page click on the Support tab at the top of this page. Then scroll down on the Support page and click on Account Services. Then click on Helix Marketplace in the left hand column. Your purchase should appear there and you can download it. Then import the presets and IRs (if any) into POD Go Edit.
  12. You’ll need to open a support ticket to get more info and a possible repair/recovery.
  13. No POD Go does not replace the 3rd party IR with anything. And there is no way to save it separately from the preset into the POD Go IR library. The reason is that 3rd party IRs are commercial, purchased products. You are not entitled to it since you haven’t purchased it. What you can do is replace the IR with one of the stock POD Go cab/mic models. If you have the name of the IR in the Customtone preset you may be able to decipher that to give you a hint about the closest POD Go cab/mic option.
  14. Yes Helix Native is being updated simultaneously. It should be released at roughly the same time as the Helix firmware and HX Edit.
  15. Since the POD HD is a stereo output device it would be best to connect both the L and R outputs to your mixer. I don’t think that the signal collapses to mono if you only use the L output. If you want to use just the L output make sure you place a mono FX block at the end of the signal chain. That will force a collapse to mono.
  16. It means you have edited the preset and it is in an unsaved state. It doesn’t take much - depending on the preset configuration and settings something as simple as moving an expression pedal can be interpreted as an edit.
  17. Excuse my ignorance but I don’t understand what you mean by ‘stereo widener’. Please elaborate.
  18. I would use an FX Loop block in the Helix preset. For stereo operation choose FX Loop 1/2. Connect the Send 1 and Send 2 outputs from Helix to your first stereo external pedal and connect the last stereo pedal’s outputs to the Helix Return 1 and Return 2 inputs. No need for multiple paths. Using the stereo FX Loop setup should maintain the stereo signal throughout the loop as long as all your external pedals are stereo and connected accordingly. If you want to use some of your external pedals at one point in the signal chain and the rest at another point you can use FX Loop 1/2 at one point and FX Loop 3/4 at a different point, connected as described above.
  19. Try turning off the global EQ. It is the prime suspect, I think, based on what you’ve said. The Global EQ does not affect the USB output, which is what your DAW receives. It does affect the Main and Headphone audio outputs, so it may be causing the fizziness.
  20. There is no headphone setting that you can alter on the POD Go.
  21. Sounds to me like something in your setup changed in the last 3 or 4 days. It’s possible that some component or other has suddenly failed (headphones? cables? i/o jacks?....). But it’s more likely that something has changed in your POD Go device setup. Global settings? New firmware? Headphone settings? Think back to what you may have changed recently for clues. Those headphones seem to be wireless and work over Bluetooth, which is not supported by the POD Go. What other equipment are you using to get the Bluetooth signal to your headphones? I’d start there. If nothing comes to mind back up your POD Go presets and restore factory settings. As a last resort reinstall the firmware.
  22. Yes you can get a dry guitar signal from HX Stomp to your DAW using your regular audio interface. Assuming you also want to record the wet stereo signal simultaneously you will need to use three audio input channels on your interface device. Connect your HX Stomp main outputs to two of those channels and use those to feed a stereo track in your DAW. Connect your HX Stomp Send output to the 3rd interface input channel and use that to feed a mono track in your DAW. In your HX Stomp preset place the SEND block at the very front of your signal chain, before any processing blocks. This will carry your dry guitar signal to your interface. Make sure you set the Dry Thru parameter on the Send block to route the dry signal to the rest of your signal chain. This will get the processed stereo signal to the HX Stomp main outputs.
  23. Could that be why it’s called the... (wait for it).... Helix Floor?
