Go to sonomawireworks.com and look for the T4 version download. It's free I think. -
Master volume Question
silverhead replied to Tboneous's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Generally you want the HD Master volume set on the high side rather than the low side. The higher the Master, the less noise in the output signal (better signal-to-noise ratio). On the other hand, it is recommended that the L-series speakers be set with the volume control at the 'notch' position - about 50%. In my experience setting the HD Master anywhere near max with the L-speaker notched is wa-a-a-y too loud for anything but gig levels. But still, setting the HD too low introduces noise. For practice and small-venue settings I find a balance by adjusting both levels to suit the room and still yield a good signal-to-noise ratio. -

Glad you've found something that makes you grin and play! At roughly 4 times the cost it should make you grin. -
JTV/HD 500x to L2/3T
silverhead replied to tumenibrother's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
You can save the Lt speaker mode as part of every HD500 preset. To do what you describe above is simple. Just manually set the desired Lt speaker mode while the HD500 is connected via L6 Link, then save the Hd500 preset. Henceforth when you recall the preset the speaker mode will be reset to the saved state. -
1. No - the tap tempo is not a global setting; it applies on a preset basis.

If you buy a second hand POD, will you have USB connection issues?
silverhead replied to hoodermaniax's topic in POD HD
The support ticket system is global - you should open a ticket. The service center system is regional; if it is determined that your device needs servicing you will be directed to a local service center. -

silverhead replied to hoodermaniax's topic in POD HD
At this point I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this. One other thought: check the usb port on the HD500 device. There should be a plastic rectangular piece protecting the 4 wire pin connectors. If you don't see this plastic piece, its absence could explain things. That would definitely involve a hardware repair - and I would return the device for exchange/refund if possible. Did you have a chance to observe the HD500 working properly with a computer before you bought it? -

Try using different USB ports on your computer - especially those on the rear panel rather than front panel of your PC - and make sure you are not using any USB hubs. Also, try temporarily disconnecting all other usb devices to determine whether there may be a conflict with some other device. -
Are FX100 effects & amps from the X3 series ?

Yes - the modeling is from the X3 series. -

Have you tried registering the HD500 yourself? If you are able to register it using its serial number then it is no longer registered to someone else and hence you can eliminate that possibility. If you are unable to register it, open a support ticket to get Line 6 to help you with registration. If it is registered to you and the problem persists, please come back here and provide more info such as your computer type and OS. Also make sure you are using Line 6 Monkey to assist you with driver download and installation. Pay particular attention to when Monkey tells you to disconnect/connect the HD500 via usb. -
Pre-Sale Question: FX100 USB connection to computer
silverhead replied to markbond's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
No - the FX100 is not an audio interface for general recording purposes. The usb port is presumably for future purposes, not yet specified. -
When recording via the usb connection the HD500 becomes your soundcard; your laptop's internal soundcard is bypassed. 1) Connect your HD500 via usb to your computer. In your DAW, select the HD500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input and output device. Connect your headphones or monitors to the HD500 outputs. Set your HD500 Output Mode to Studio. In your HD500 preset, use the FULL amp model and select desired cab/mic models. You will probably want to use different presets when you play live or use your amp as the monitoring device. The reason that your recorded sound is good but the sound through your amp is not is that you are effectively using two amps: the HD500 amp model and then your real amp. Only the HD500 amp model is recorded; but you are listening to the processing from both amps when you connect your headphones to your amp. 2) While it is possible to set things up so that you can use your internal laptop soundcard (and hence its speakers) you will suffer a significant reduction in sound quality. I don't recommend it.

I would open a support ticket and include your serial number in the information, or call Line 6 directly (see Contact Us below). It this issue is specific to certain serial numbers they will be able to tell you if yours is affected. Then you will know whether you need to bring it to a service center.

pod hd500 not able to drag l6t files to the pod itself
silverhead replied to devilx's topic in POD HD
l6t filetypes are not compatible with the Pod HD series. There is no converter to make these older files compatible. To find compatible files use Customtone and select Pod HD500 as the device. -
None. Use HD500 Edit to save the HD500 preset to your computer. Then open HD500X Edit and drag/drop the saved HD500 preset to the desired location in HD500X Edit. Then use the HD500X Edit SEND SELECTED command to send the preset to the HD500X device.

How Do I Save My Created Patches With My Hd500x In Case They Would Be Lost?
silverhead replied to mjamborn's topic in POD HD
The SAVE BUNDLE command is in the Editor, not the HD500x. That command is what saves all presets in the HD500X to a file on your computer. You can also save individual presets or setlists using variations of the SAVE command in the Edit program. -
You can use a standard Ethernet cable to replace the VDI temporarily, just as a test. Don't use it longer term - if you discover the VDI cable is bad replace it asap.

The signal sent from the pod to the pc can be heard and recorded in the DAW. I'm not sure what you mean. You are right about the ASIO protocol - that's why you use the Pod as both the audio input and output device.

Use Pod Hd Pro As Guitar Interface And Mic Interace?
silverhead replied to UNDEAD5150's topic in POD HD
Check out this thread. I think it's relevant for you. http://line6.com/support/topic/7442-hd500microphone-problem/ -
I think you're right. The m20d is not necessary for your setup. Neither is the Mackie. For small setups like that I simply use the two input channels on my L3t side panel mixer. It also sounds like you could connect your guitar directly to Channel 1 on the L3t, bypassing your VoiceLive for the guitar. This will enable you to use the excellent acoustic guitar 'body' emulation of the L3t. Try it.

Using Logic Pro and HD Edit at the same time may be problematic. Both programs will be using the same USB connection, and that can easily confuse communications. I recommend not using them simultaneously. You're right about the Looper; it's a recording function rather than an editing function so the Editor does not address it.

No - when your Pod is connected, and especially when you select it in Cubase as your audio interface device, it becomes your soundcard. Your internal computer soundracrd, and hence the speakers connected to it, are bypassed. You need to connect speakers/headphones to the Pod outputs to hear the audio. As for the manual, here's the part you missed (page 8-2): Audio Routing When using the POD HD USB connection, the audio driver manages several tasks. The driver feeds the processed guitar signal out the USB Record Send to your computer and receives playback audio from the computer. It also grabs the processed guitar signal before routing it to the Record Send, to provide a low latency monitor signal, and then mixes the monitor signal with the playback audio and feeds this combined signal to your POD HD analog outputs.

The advantage is purely ease-of-use. All parameters of all amps and FX are more visible and accessible; you can see/do most things in a few screens rather than many, many individual screens. You can't do anything in Edit that you can do on the device, and vice-versa. It is no more difficult to SAVE and you don't need to do it more frequently; in both cases it's a conscious action that involves pushing buttons, either on the device itself or with the mouse.

Jtv Factory Models Available In Hd500?
silverhead replied to brue58ski's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I remember getting myself confused about this. Seemed that sometimes HD500 Edit showed the F- models available for selection, and sometimes not. iirc, it boiled down to which type of Variax (older model vs. JTV) was selected in the editor. Although the JTV is connected via VDI, the editor seems to ignore that and presents you with the option to select an older Variax model for any given preset. It may even default to an older model. And for older models, the F- options are visible and available for selection. But if you switch your Variax Model selection to JTV the F- models disappear. So, in my case, on the occasions when I saw F-models available when my JTV was connected I had not recognized that an older model Variax was mistakenly selected as the Variax Model parameter.
