JTV-69 Alt Tuning Wheel Issues

Sounds like something with the control underneath then. It will need a tech who knows the insides. Line 6 authorized or me. -
JTV-69 Alt Tuning Wheel Issues
psarkissian replied to ajmee's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Re-Flash it with the interface device and Monkey application. Also make certain that the control screws holding stuff in, are not loose. Keep them snug, or you could have an intermittent chassis ground occur. -
And WiLAN (Wireless Local Area Network for the uninitiated) typically uses I/Q, with the quadrature (Q-signal) signal phase at 90-degrees with a +0 to -3 degree tolerance range. Very good Dave. Taking the wireless packs and sub-planting them into a guitar is not so easy. The mod connector (RJ45) is also used for updates through Monkey and Workbench HD, which would complicate things even more. Nice idea, but there would be hurdles to be overcome first before something like that would be doable.

BTPA,... I guess it's okay. Dual jacketed is usually pretty good. Looks like it's made by the same company that makes ours. Interesting, the part number is almost the same too. Been using the L6 version on a daily basis for the last 9-1/2 almost 10 years beating the crap out of them, since I service the guitars here,... and on my third one. Also have four JTV's with a cable for each one, all still good. It isn't just how they're built, it's how you treat them as well. It's like a car, treat it nice, it runs forever, beat the b'geezes out of it, and it's in the scrap yard within a year. Either cable is good.

Pickup Switch for JTV-59
psarkissian replied to rsto10's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Use 99% isopropyl alcohol, on a cotton swab. don't spray directly into it. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/cleaning-pots-and-faders-r816 Something I wrote for our Knowledge Base. -
And when you're hangin' at Malibu, Zuma or Sunset beach, it sounds even better. I can only imagine what it would sound like hangin' at Bondi Beach. Getting hungry for prawns and Foster after shooting some curls. Keep your eyes out for guppies.

Pickup Switch for JTV-59

It's the current version. And the one you have in yours would also be current. The problem with the early, early ones were purged early on. I made certain of that. Any found in early guitars still out there that were returned for servicing, that still had them, got replaced with the current version. If it's failing, then it may be nothing more than an oxidizing solder point. Solder points in electronics can oxidize and fail over time. And with switches and jacks with mechanical stresses, even more so. Normal wear and tear. stevekc,... always on the ball, thanks. -
No. Tone quality shouldn't change. But if you change a set-up parameter like that, you will need to have the set-up checked by a luthier/tech, to be certain that the other parameters are not affected. And adjust any that need to be compensated for. Changing string gauges changes the tension, and so changes the set-up. And so would also rquire a set-up check, and if needed, an adjustment. This should be done by a Line 6 authorized service center, as they will have access to service information.

Ah,... okay. I've come across a number of things since then. No worries, I'm here to help. Very good, carry on.

Don't know who informed you differently. All of the ones I got back with other than spec tubes, failed because they had something other than spec tubes in them. And being biased incorrectly didn't help matters any.

No, don't see one on the list. Darn. Say hello to Leicester Square for me. Love the Theatre there.

I've had too many of our valve amps (Spider Valve, Alchemist, DT series) come across my bench here at Line 6 HQ with other than specified tubes (JJ, Mesa, Groove Tube and others). And the reason they failed was that they had the wrong version tube in them. These are not all analog amps. The digital and analog section need to talk to work with each other. Hot rodding an already Bogner designed hot rod amp messes with the digital program, which gives the analog section incorrect functionality. And then things go wrong from there. Stick to the specs, the amp will last longer. Every year at the trade show here, I chat with the tube people, and am friends with a couple of them. And there products are good and I like them, but not in these amps. Stick with the EH EL84, and they have to be matched pairs.

It will sound the way it is supposed to.

Adjusting (lowering) bridge on JTV59

If one side is tight, adjust the other side as well, too much of an angle on either side and the post may bind and impinge a little. Use a 7/64" hex or a metric equivalent for adjusting the post. Should be one in the hex kit that came with the JTV. Similar to a Les Paul, but not the same action as a Les Paul,... just similar. And I use some of the supplied hex wrenches at my bench set-up. Though the 7/64", I use one with a longer shaft. But be careful with those if you do a lot of this, a cheap long shaft can twist or break over time if used a lot for this. Shorter shaft, no worries. Oh and BTW,... what stevekc said. He knows his stuff. -
Since you're in the UK, if you eventually need to to replace a piezo, there's E&M Electronics in Milton Keyes, and my mate old Mark Wright at Mark Wright Music in Northampton. Mark was my opposite number at Line 6 UK, in Rugby, when we had a location there, and knows JTV's really well too.

A number of factors,... -How close to the coast you. -Content of salts in your palm sweat or skin oils in your hands when you play. Couple of players had it so bad their prints would imprint onto the chrome of the bridge tailpiece and tuning machines. -How hard you rub when palm muting,... can be made worse by the previous mentioned reasons. Just a few things to be aware of.

And Ronnie Cox actually plays that kind of guitar music,... one of the reasons he got the part was so he could the guitar and banjo scene with the guy on the porch. He really plays that way, he's really good.

Like the title of a Bill Bruford piece he played on, he was "One of A Kind". Words are insufficient. :(

JTV-69 Acoustic Model Issues

Line 6 authorized tech who does guitars, and have the set-up checked for fret buzz, and maybe the intonation needs to be dialed in a little tighter.
