  1. Has it been previously serviced? If so, where at? If it was previously serviced, were all of the gaskets and seals installed prior to closing up the unit? Correctly torqued down screws upon closing up the unit?
  2. "Would I be able to transfer my Celestion Vintage 30's (marked as 16ohms) to my v 240?"--- No. Don't do that. What is in there, is in there for a reason,.... don't mess with it.
  3. Make certain the impedance of the cabinet matches the impedance of the amp output. Follow the user manual on this to the letter. Impedance mis-match is a bad thing.
  4. Check the Knowledge Base regarding tube bias.
  5. Check with Mark Wright Music in Northampton. Mark was a repair tech at Line 6 in Rugby, when we had a location there. He has his own shop now and still works on Line 6 gear. Good tech, good mate.
  6. Narrows it down to a connector not fully inserted or a failed piezo.
  7. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/guitars/james-tyler-variax-guitars/variax-shuriken-custom-user-presets-r859 Make certain you have the bundle loaded. If it's still a problem then it's probably the the piezo. What is described in the initial post here, sounds like a failing piezo.
  8. "The fact that the toggle switch works for the models, pretty much rules it out as the cause"--- Not necessarily so, though it's a good guess. Yes, it could be something else like a failed bridge pick-up, or a connection on the toggle switch assembly. Contact cleaner would be useless. It needs to be troubleshooted by a qualified tech, preferably Line 6 authorized, as they will have access to service information and they can consult me if needed.
  9. Go into your Line 6 account, log a support ticket. It needs to go to your local Line 6 authorized service center. They will have access to service information, and they can consult me through our service partners there, if needed.
  10. Yes,... Stew-Mac catalog refers to it as a two-way rod. Dan Erlewine refers to it as a dual-action. All JTV's use the same rod. Clockwise to take relief out, anticlockwise to add relief in. Do it in 1/8 turn increments and let it sit for a day. Torquing too much one way, and then the other over short periods is a good way to warp a neck.
  11. Opening a support ticket, then our support partners in the Euro can deal with it.
  12. Sounds like the interface kit that came with the guitar. Also,... when connecting, put the fully charged battery in the guitar, and plug in a stereo 1/4" headphone adapter into the 1/4" output to engage the battery. Then proceed.
  13. Thanks Steve good as usual,... Use the VDI Interface device instead of the Helix, it has LED indicators. Make certain that both LED's on it stay green throughout the entire update process. If at any time it blinks red, wait for the process to complete, click on "Change Device" to re-initialize the GUI, then update it again.
  14. All the JTV's use the same truss rod. Anti-clockwise for relief, clockwise to take relief out. 4mm hex tool is in the hex kit that came with the guitar.
  15. Regarding #1,... No, the newer HD version is not compatible with the older Variax guitars. The "HD" version of Workbench is for JTV, Standard and Shurikens with Flash v2.00 or higher. Different circuit board, different programming.
  16. Mostly wood density due to different wood types. But yes, those other things and string tension play into too, though to a lesser extent. Two lefties, one using a Flying-V body, the other using an SG copy body,... each had slight differences in tone color. If you play a lot of JTV's, you will notice a differences, if you don't, then you would not know any differences unless you A/B them.
  17. -Bridge bone transducer problem -Loose connection -Oxidized solder points -Minor hiccup in the programming In any case, it's an older product, so it's probably time for a good technical going over and check out. Log a support ticket in your account to get things started on that.
  18. If re-loading software won't do it, then it's time for a service center. Regarding Spider Jam,... could be a failed chip or loose connection on the guitar input circuit. Do not try to fix it yourself, there's a lot of stuff to this product. It will need a qualified authorized service tech to deal with it. Regarding Spider V,... that posting ought to be with the other Spider V postings. With that said, the Spider V should be taken in to an authorized service center, as it is likely still under warranty, and should be look at by a qualified service technician. Chances are it is a failure for reasons different than what would be for a Spider Jam. In spite of them both being amps, these are very different products. A failure on one isn't necessarily the same as the other. In both cases, before taking it to an authorized service, log a ticket in your account to get any such process started.
  19. Counter clockwise loosen and allows relief, clockwise tightens, taking away relief leveling/flattening the fret-board. Extreme care should be taken when doing this to a guitar with a set/fixed neck.
  20. http://line6.com/support/manuals/fbvsmkii Found a user manual.
