    I guess either way u have to do at least ONE SINGLE move, ie; 1. Power off the monitors, OR 2. Set the Amp/Line switch in the middle position (assuming silverhead's "trick" is a go. So there is no way out but to to do repeatedly either action 1 or action 2 above...

    Try attached demo patch 'n modify at taste. With FS1 u can switch between POD amp sim and ur 4cm'ed tube amp. Note that u can also use BOTH pod amp and ur tube amp, if u enable both. 4cm demo.zip

    u shld consider using the VDI. It offers a lot on unique advantages (model+tuning+tone knob selection per preset, pure digital signal, battery-less operation, HD500 parameters control thru JTV).

    Just place a mono FX (eg noise gate 100/0) before the FX loop block. According to documentation, the FX send jack provides a stereo (when using a TRS cable). So, if u do not wanna use the mono FX solution, check by trial 'n error.

I used to have a BV60. But I believe the JTV+HD500 is an unbeatable bundle, both for studio and live use.

    JTV + HD500 is a go ! I am now using a JTV69s+HD500 directly XLR'ed to PA, no amp. Before I used a Fender Prosonic Custom Shop with a 1972 Strat (with 3 position selector switch), really cool 'n original pure vintage stuff. You can "taste" the flavor of this gear in the attached video at about 04:00 However, since i bought the JTV69s and the HD500, the 72 strat+fender prosonic custom shop tube amp+many other tube amps+analogue equipment are now decommissioned.

    Audio-wise the signal is digital (ie the sound is represented by 0's and 1's). By skipping a D/A A/D stage, by definition the "quality" is better. Of course, the human ear can not "sense" this tiny deterioration in sound quality, this is why u think it does not sound any better than the analogue output.

    It is a sound idea to always "double" ur gear for the live shows. Back in the 70's all guitarists had backup amps/guitars, just in case a component of their main rig failed. Nowadays it's is much easier (2 HD500's, 2 JTV;s), XLR connection to PA and double set-lists (one for the DT and the other for direct output to FOH)
