  1. It looks interesting, but the true test is yet to come... Let's see what happens when hundreds/thousands of users begin debugging the unit and stomping on those double duty encoder/foot switches. For the time being I'm still very content with my Helix.... and feel no need to replace it, or add to it.
  2. Yeah, that kinda moves the goal posts a little :) The Tone Sovereign and Heir Apparent pedals are a natural for MIAB.... I'd also suggest taking a good look at the Tee-mah (Timmy). I find a with the Tee-mah and some clever snapshots I can cover a lot of dirt territory.
  3. The dreaded loop.... the MIDI equivalent to audio feedback. Glad you got things sorted out.
  4. Amp in the box pedals copy the tones of the preamps of that particular amp. The Helix provides "preamp models" of every amp so a dirt box stomp version isn't really needed! You want a JTM45 MIAB tone. Insert a JTM45 Preamp model. You want a Plexi MIAB tone, Insert a Plexi Preamp model. Keep in mind, if you use amp modeling in the Helix then this is sort of redundant when you could just use that full amp model.
  5. MIDI 101.... each device should have a dedicated midi channel and OMNI mode (on any device that offers it) should be turned off. I suspect each device is currently on defaults modes.... channel 1 and/or Omni mode (which listens to all channels). That means everything is listening to everything... which creates the chaos you are encountering. Defaults are quick and dirty to make sure sure stuff is working... but when you start adding devices you need to give them their own space (channel) to communicate.
  6. You can be as dramatic as you want with the EQ's so something is either wrong in your setup, or wrong with the stomp. There is no "right/mono" on a Stomp. Why wouldn't you come out of LEFT/MONO? Coming out of the right alone may (or may not) be part of the problem. To be honest you are still not giving us nearly enough to help you. What EQ(s) are you trying? What is the rest of your chain? How are you connected to your computer? How are you getting the signal into cubase? How are you analyzing the signal in cubase? Can you share the preset with us? etc.... etc.... etc.... etc....
  7. Obviously Blue weighs less than Black - LOL! I agree with rd2rk.... I am pretty sure the only difference is suppose to be the color.
  8. Since you don't actually say how you are setup and connected.... By chance... is the stomp connected to the computer via USB? By chance.... are you attempting to use the global EQ? If so there are many posts about this already. The global EQ does not apply to the USB output! If that is not the problem, can you provide more details... your OP is actually quite vague.
  9. The sheer "number" of votes cannot be the only thing taken into account. Meters have always had the highest number of votes (by far) and took more than 4-5 years to get. I've seen other things added with just a handful of votes. Quite often things are added that don't even appear on ideascale. Like any business.... they'll have a board room where all options are considered and debated. I'm sure they are well aware of the chatter on the forums or in the FB group, but ideascale is the official place to make a request. IMO... if they can find a way to add the global EQ to the digital outputs without permanently reducing DSP availability I'd be happy to upvote it. But I do not want to give up precious resources if that is the only option. I'm also aware that if I owned a PC or DT, I'd probably feel very differently about that :)
  10. AFAIK, there is no way to change the scribble strip on the UP/DOWN buttons. They are either Bank, Preset or Snapshot
  11. Although I agree some dirt pedals don't like loops, your description leads me to a different possible problem. I suspect your send/return is set to LINE. Check your Global Settings.... Global Settings > IN/OUTs > Find your Send/Return Pair you use for the loop > Set this to INSTRUMENT Once that is set.... simply inserting that mono loop should work great with it's default settings - although you can use the send/return levels to fine tune it further if needed. IE: Pedals should behave "similar" to normal with just the default loop settings once the global setting is correct.
  12. Is this the Zoom effect you are talking about... the SeqFilter
  13. That sounds great... I'll have to download a copy when I get a moment. The Princeton model really is special. I've swapped out the Deluxe for the Princeton on many of my presets. I use similar style presets on my Helix... always trying to make most of the snapshot versatility!
  14. Where do you set your contour button? Hint.... Engaged would be the wrong answer :)
  15. It's just a matter of preference. FRFR mode will provide more of the "finished" tone, but some players prefer that.... me being one of them. Other players love that "amp in the room" sound.... no problem, that's why the PC's have different options. To each his own... but I have never, and would never use the global EQ as part of my core tone. It's purpose is to be corrective... only when required. I don't know why L6 Link is not an option with the Global EQ. I believe the DT would not require it, but the PC could benefit from it in bad rooms.
  16. I bought a Helix LT in November of 2018.... preloaded with Firmware 2.3... I have no idea where my unit sits in the production timeline, but I have not had any issues with the expression pedal. I did break out the Allen key to loosen it just a little, but that was for feel... not problems. It was really stiff out of the box.
  17. FYI: This is not your topic to close... it belongs to another user... Daleosq

    128 IRs

You are entitled to your opinion.... but if you are going to scream from a mountain top how crappy the Helix is, you might want to back it up with some credibility! You can't be serious! On any forum system you do not have to look far to find complaints. If you didn't find them, you didn't look beyond the first post on the first page - LOL! Line 6 doesn't ban people because they complain about the tuner.... they ban people for bad behavior! In regards to IR slots...I'm not against having more slots available for those that want it but 128 is enough for me. I use about 10 on any given night, and I keep another 50 or 60 loaded and ready. I'm still only at 50% capacity, give or take a little. I should note that I don't "trial and error" 1000's of IR's from a package. I know the configurations I like in the real world and I zero in on about 20 (per package) to run through quickly in order to find the one's I'll use. I never have to extend beyond those to find what I am looking for.... because I know what I am looking for.
  19. Since both of your helix units do this... the problem is likely within the GUITAR. Even when set to force choices made on the guitar always override.... I suspect the "pickup selector" and/or the "tuning selector" on the guitar needs cleaning. One (or both) are likely sending signals unintentionally. On a normal guitar this translates to a scratchy selector, on the Variax it translates to unexpected changes :)
  20. I'm not sure how that is going to get you two great signals.... did you test it on BOTH outputs? With the "split crossover" everything you send to one side will be "missing" from the other side! IMO... I wouldn't bother with any splitting, panning, etc... etc... then trying to remember where Left/Right is intended to go.... I would simply put a SEND block directly before the IR block and send it to the Magnum/Cab. The IR then continues to the Main Outs. Even though you won't have volume control (to the cabinet) from the Helix, the Magnum 44 provides that already. Just set the send for the optimal output to the Magnum. As for the POST effects... I fully agree with @rd2rk.... those need to be before your cab so you don't have to duplicate anything. This is an often over looked position but "in between amp and cab" is the most accurate position to simulate the effects loop of a traditional amp :)
  21. I didn't.... I've added a few products since I started this thread so it is still behind. Maybe it just takes a snapshot from 2 years ago :)
  22. IMO.... that's a pretty easy to tone to find on the Helix. The times you point out are more "core tone" and "pickup position" than they are pedal. What would I do to get the tone in the time positions you suggest? Setup a clean amp tone.... either a Deluxe or Princeton model with the gain fairly low (no dirt) and the channel volume high. These are VOX pedals, but that doesn't sound like a VOX core tone to me. After the amp I would add a touch of reverb.... nothing special, just a small amount. Prior to the amp I would place a Teemah (timmy) overdrive. Dial the gain back so it only breaks up if you hit the strings hard.... Set the guitar for the neck position and start noodling! Now EQ the Teemah and Amp to taste. There no specific settings because it will vary based on the guitar you are using.... how you monitor your rig, and how you attack the guitar (ie: how you play).

    best I.R'S

There are two things missing from the Stock Cab settings that IR packages often include several options for. You can't set a mic off axis. You can't move a mic from the center of the speaker toward the edge of the speaker. (Center = Brighter, Edge = Darker, and every inch of movement within is noticeably different) Not missing, but limited. I think the current limitation of moving a mic from a cabinet is 6".... in a real studio you might want an ambient mic several feet from the cabinet.
  24. Not trying to derail this thread but....17 Years? I thought I was doing good at 13 years... when my front door light finally called it quits!

    Okay

Every guitar will have a pickup position that works best... it's important to isolate that "favorite" position then build the tone from that. Flipping pickup positions on an electric would produce wildly different sounds... but it wouldn't be any different if you had an acoustic with a moveable pickup. That's the nature of how pickup position works. How the AC-2 and AC-3 were used makes all the difference. Both sound a lot better when the 2nd output is utilized to send the acoustic tone directly to the PA or a Full Range amp. With the Helix AC Sim it would be just as important to make sure it is monitored full range, without any amp/cab modeling taking place. (of course there are exceptions to this general rule of usage) Certainly couldn't hurt. I made my own set of IR's from my Fishman Aura and use those on all my acoustic instruments. I haven't tried them with the Acoustic sim yet, but I'm sure they would provide a nice improvement - when used appropriately. If I were in the market for a 3rd party IR I would look at 3 Sigma and choose a package of choice for $10. There will be several options in a single package to keep you busy for a while to see if it's a directly worth pursuing further. https://www.3sigmaaudio.com/acoustic-impulses/
