  1. It would seem that the USB cable that comes with Helix(and LT) is sub par. Maybe they got a bad batch, not sure, but I know that I had various issues until I changed out the cable that came with my Helix. The first thing I wanted to do when I got my LT was upgrade the FW. It proved impossible on 3 computers but the 4th worked. Thinking back, I don't think the 4th computer was the key but rather the USB cable. Since then I've had zero issues.
  2. I don't have the HX effects pedal, but looking at pictures of it there appears to be a pair of arrows directly below the "action" button(which is the group of controls farthest right).
  3. The Ownhammer's usually have a "Quick Start" folder. Per their documentation, they recommend you start there. Personally, I'm a fan of the Rosen Digital IR's. They usually come in sets of 3-6 and I find most of them usable. Unfortunately their documentation doesn't go into great detail regarding specific IRs. I don't really need that info, but my inner "gear-geek" wants to know.
  4. Does anything show in in upper left corner when this occurs? I've had my LT for just under a year. Within the first month I experienced twice what you are describing. It would never boot up. In the upper left corner of the screen it read :-28 in red letters. I opened a ticket and Line 6 support instructed me to do a factory reset. Long story short, I've never experienced the issue again.
  5. I bought the Focusrite Scarlett Solo specifically to use with Native. The Solo is, of course, the entry level Focusrite model for $99. I've been very happy with it. I did a quick and dirty comparison with the LT and they are near identical but I would say the LT has a slight edge, but I would say the lay person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. There where a couple times I was even confused to which one I was using. Before the Focusrite I used the POD HD500 and an old M-Audio Mobile pre. The HD500 worked well, but I couldn't get the latency that I get with the Focusrite and I had problems with Win10 and it's drivers. When I upgrade my interface I will definitely consider the Clarett.
  6. I have the LT and luckily haven't had that sort of issue with the expression pedal. But I have seen others that have, so I don't believe it to be an isolated incident. I use an additional expression pedal for my wahs and pitch effects as those are the ones that are used more often(for me). I use the LT pedal mostly for controlling effects parameters(delay mix mostly). Here is another post discussing this:
  7. I'm using a modded crybaby. I replaced the pot in it and also spring loaded it. It's been working flawlessly for wah and pitch effects. The onboard pedal of my LT works fine unless I use the toe switch in it. When I do use the toe switch it seems to mis-calibrate and the forward pitch only goes to 97-98%. So I only use it to blend and mix certain effects.
  8. I ended up with the Focusrite Solo. It works great for me. I don't have an overly powerful computer by any means but I followed a couple optimization guides and I've got the latency down to where it's very usable. Up until a week ago I actually had to disable the network interface in Device Manager to get the low latency without pops and clicks. I read (yet) another article regarding PC audio it suggested trying drivers provided by the network chip set manufacturer (in this case Intel) vs those provided by the computer manufacturer (in this case Dell). I really didn't think it would make much difference but it really did. No more pops and clicks and I can keep the network enabled(as well as anti-virus). I can surf the web and even view youtube videos. I can basically still use the computer while using Native noise free. If I'm actually recording then I will go through the effort of disabling network and anti-virus. Most of what I use Native for, however, is just playing guitar and building tones. Just to have a platform setup and ready to go at home without having the setup the hardware Helix and my FRFR speaker.
  9. A pedalboard case is probably your best option. For years I used the 500(and later the 500x) with this case from here: http://www.rondomusic.com/pedalcases.html Unfortunately I don't see the exact case that I used. I also mounted a small 4 plug power strip into the case and always kept my board plugged in using the strip to power it on and off. Both my PODs survived years of gigging with almost no issues. I did have a beer dumped into one of the units, but that's another story(it acted funny for a bit but still works to this day).
  10. I'm pretty sure it is Praise and Worship, although I mistook at first for Passion and Warfare.
  11. I use the exact same speaker and like you found it to be pretty bass heavy when it sits on the floor. I use this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Proline/PL7000-Adjustable-Amp-Stand.gc It helps tame the bass quite a bit.
  12. Do you have a different computer you can try it on? When I first got my LT, i was unable to get it to connect to my main windows computer, I borrowed my mothers laptop and it didn't work either. It wasn't until I dug out my wifes laptop running windows 8 that I was able to get the FW updated. After updating I was able to connect it to all of my computers.
  13. Just for giggles(and for the fact I was slightly worried about the garbled text during the first install) I did a factory reset. After the reset I now have the factory1 patches. I reinstalled the firmware and this time I didn't do it from a "local" file, This time I saw the verbage that HonestOpinion has quoted. If you download the FW file and update it you don't get those instructions. I also didn't get the garbled text across the helix screen this time. I've restored only my setlist and IRs(from a 2.3 backup) and everything is good now.
  14. I did a backup with 2.30 before the update. I didn't do any resets or restores and everything seems to be intact here. During the update the screen on the Helix became jumbled through about the 2nd half but so far everything seems fine. I've got a lengthy rehearsal this weekend, I'll see how it behaves. I have the new amps and effects and have played with them. I don't, however, have the "Factory1 32A Space Case"
  15. I always read these tuner threads just to see what direction they will take. It can be quite amusing. That said, I've been using the Helix LT(and it's tuner) at gigs now for about 7 months. Sure it's a little jumpy, but nothin' I can't work with. I'm also in the "don't give a lollipop" category.
  16. It doesn't appear that 2.50 is available yet for LT. Not sure what you are trying to install, the only 2.50 available appears to be for HX Effects only and this isn't going to work with any other Helix product. I would guess that the video was made by a beta tester.
  17. Using the capacitive touch feature is probably the most straight forward way. From the unit itself, use the joystick to highlight the effect to want to assign. With the effect highlighted now touch the button you want to assign to it. This unit will ask to to verify the assignment. That's probably the easiest way to do it.
  18. You could connect the Helix to your laptop via USB and it will be your computer's "sound card". Then connection your Mackies to the Helix via 1/4" cables(which I think you already have).
  19. I use the gate on quite a few presets and I can honestly say that I don't have this problem. Do you use the gate as a block, or are you using the one "built into" the input? I ask because for the first couple weeks I was using a block gate that I added not realizing there was one available already at the input. I also set my gate with the guitar volume rolled all the way down. I ride my volume control, when I'm not playing my volume is down. With the gate set this way, there is still a little bit of noise if the guitars volume is wide open, definitely not as much with no gate. I also use snapshots and set the gates threshold control to snapshot. This way I can set the threshold per snapshot. My clean snapshots are usually fairly noise free, so the threshold is dialed way back.
  20. I use the stomp/snapshot mode. When setting up snapshots I save after the parameters/bypasses are all set how I want. Mine is also set in such a way that any changes I make to a snapshot with the stomp pedals will remain until the patch is reloaded. Under the global settings > Preferences there is a Snapshots edit setting that you can toggle so that the snapshot "discards" any changes made and returns to it's saved state. You also have to make sure that your parameters(threshold, guitar z) are set to snapshot as well. All that said, there have been a couple rare occasions that my snapshots didn't behave as expected. I ended up building the presets up again from scratch and remembered to save often.

    Snapshot help

When you go to the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN screen, there are two drop downs, the First is for Bypass, which will bypass the entire amp/effect. This won't have a snapshot option. But if you click that dropdown you should see your different parameters. Click that. and choose the parameter you want to snapshots to control. Now the second drop down should has snapshots as an option. For me it is the last in the list.
  22. I also have the E530 and using the 4CM it sounds great with the Helix. BUT....I will never use it this way live. It just makes setup that much more complicated. I can easily get usable sounds out of the Helix by itself. At my gigs, I can be setup and running within 5 minutes. My last gig, I used the Derailed Ingrid with a Rosen IR, (the Legacy 4x12) for the whole show. It was a benefit with about 12 different bands. There where a lot of guitarists in the audience. Everyone I talked to complimented my tone. A couple guys assumed I was using the provided back line amp(a Marshall tube combo). Helix into a FRFR is all I need.
  23. Check out this thread here: http://line6.com/support/topic/21821-modding-a-cry-baby-to-make-an-expression-pedal/ This is where I got all the specifics in putting this together.
  24. I don't have the Mission expression pedal but I've put together a very similar design using an old crybaby. I took out all the crybaby guts and and put in this 10k pot: https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/potentiometer-dunlop-10k-linear I put in a 1/4 inch guitar jack as well. I use it strictly for wah and whammy effects using the auto-engage feature. I also stuffed a spring in the toe end so it returns to heel position when I take my foot off. I put a dab of gorilla glue at the base of the spring although It probably wasn't really needed. I've been gigging with this for months now and it works great. For wah stuff i like the feel of it better than the on board pedal. I was also having problems with the on-board pedal not reaching 100% on pitch-wham stuff (I have theory on why this is, but that's for another thread). I've had zero issues with the external pedal.
  25. I've had this same issue on the HD500. It got to the point where the tuner would engage on it's own. I was able to get it repaired under warranty. I later got the HD500x and it never failed, but I did lose the "clickiness" of the button. Fortunately you can get a replacement board here: http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/280562-Line-6-50-02-0234 or the individual switches: http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/184172-Line-6-24-31-1105 Replacing the board is pretty easy. I'm going to work on replacing the switches on the original board as well. I don't know for sure, but I think the Helix uses the same switches(I may be way off on that). My question is can you use something like this with Helix?: https://reverb.com/item/806628-one-trick-pony-tap-6-line-6-tap-tempo-controller-footswitch-by-molten-voltage I use the tap tempo as much as some would use a wah. An external pedal would save a lot of wear and tear.
